47 years old, and have just ordered all the bits and bobs to start arc welding. Been intimidated by the craft, but just wanted to say thank you. Hated school and channels like yours have made it possible for me to learn skills that I never thought I would. Cheers Tim, very grateful.
Absolutely agree , great tutorials & tool reviews !! I'm actually welding my nokka log loader with the little dekko pro inverter thx to Tim here. Before that I had no clue🤷upgraded all the pistons even made my own brackets! Thank you Tim! Keep on sharing brother 🙏😎
Another great video I’m 65 and just decided to take up welding as a hobby now retirement is near your videos are perfect for beginners like me keep them coming.
Really enjoy the fact you show every day people with basic stuff they too can do cool stuff. Then you show them setting and rods and polarity knowledge to help them not only now but in the future.
That's great you got your silver botton. I am new to welding. Just started school 2 weeks ago and how you brake everything down has been helping me better understand everything
Congratulation Tim ,I'm a new welder ,it's something I always wanted to do now at 60 ,decided to do it' what I like about your videos is the way you explain thing ,that even I can understand ,keep up the videos Tim ,there great, thank you very much ...Yves
Congratulations, Tim! thanks for your share this, it can save much cost base on most basic tools. We are a strong manufacturer of sheet metal fabrication in China, with high quality and competitive price. Rapid prototyping and batch produce.
Just got started welding barely two weeks ago! Watched so many of you videos which have been indispensable. so much great info shared clearly and concisely! best welding education content on youtube. 100k subscribers well deserved!!
I appreciate that you use some of the cheapest products as well as some the top tier ones. Your use of the Harbor Freight 125 amp mig with the top of the line Miller mig showed the results are dependent on the user. Just use what you can afford. I started woodworking with a Sears drill and circular saw. Let your projects determine your next tool.
👏👏 Congratulations 🎊 on your 100k Award. You deserve it and we're glad to help you get there. Cheers 🍻 to you Tim. The aluminum block heat sink trick is 💯👍. 🤣, grinder and paint 🎨, priceless 😂. Keep up the good work.
With good cut off wheels you can make 100% straight cuts freehand. I use the 1mm thick 3M Cubitron cut off wheels. Yes, they are expensive but they cut like hell and last forever.
Great video as usual. One thing I will mention, however, is this: Acetone is a known carcinogen. Rubbing alcohol is a much cheaper and safer solvent to remove magic marker lines.
Thank you TimWelds for all the videos you have made you have helped me to understand how to weld as I teach myself how to weld , without your videos I would have stopped trying to weld cause its not as easy as it looks !! I highly appreciate you taking the time to make your videos and explaining everything clearly in plain english....
I watch a LOT of instructional videos and yours are the best! You provide just enough background/theory so I understand what's going on but you quickly jump into the "How-to" without loosing us. Please keep up the great work and know that you are helping 1000s of us to become better metal-workers every day.
"A firm grip on the tool, but a light touch on the material"... There are too many ways, and too many different applications, where that is such great advice for the beginner fabricator. From cutting sheet materials to cutting a sushi roll... Quality advice for quality work.
Thanks for the tips ( especially about drilling corners) on layout . I'm curious , what was the thickness of the material that you where using ? Thanks
Man I’ve watched like 5 videos from you back to back. Working on saving up for a flux core mig welder and love these tips and tricks for fabrication. Keep it up! You just gained a subscriber!
Sheet metal worker here ... Ya done alright ! Congrats on the award ! what wire did you use to TIG the corners ? The other thing I noticed is you used hot rolled metal (on the plasma cut pc) and that alone will throw off some carbon during the process (welding) either mig or tig. Cold rolled would have fused like stainless butterness. Dont be affraid to use stainless 308L / .035 for filler it will actually help . Want an adventure? try TIG welding Galv or galvaneel ( paintlock) with the stainless wire. a 309 wire will actually make it even easier because of the americium in it.a good everything to anything.. SIB is good to but not a true weld in my book. Cheers and best wishes on 200,000 more !
Awesome idea thanks Tim, I need to make a draw for my drill bits this will be the perfect way to do it. I was going to use sheet metal and angle iron 🤔🤷🏼
Congrats Tim for your well deserved award. This video was just what I wanted I have just acquired some 6mm sheet metal to make an electric motor mount and belt adjustment set up on my metal lathe. I was wondering how to cut straight lines with the angle grinder and was going to drill several holes and file out slots for making motor adjustment for the vee belt, I will now use the angle grinder as you did. Very grateful to you for taking the time to show us, you have taught me so much,I have got my son in Atlanta is now subscribing to you channel Dave H (ENGLAND)
Congrats on the 100k. Hands-down best beginner welder channel out there. You are the one that convinced me to just buy a cheapy welder (Deko) and get started learning. My needs are more farm-related like fences, so wind is a concern. It was good to know about shield gasses before choosing the type of welder. Thanks
Congrats , just subscribed. I’ve had a stick weld machine for years and have never used it myself so am taking lessons from you channel. So far so good I’ve welded two steel rebars together 😁✌🏾
Another tip instead of cutting slots use your 3/4 angle as a guide and score the bend joints to thin the material to make it weaker all the way along the bend joint
I learned 6010 and 7018 in welding school; I guess I just gravitate toward what I know best. Through this doing this channel, I've become aware of what a staple 6013 is in so much of the world. Thanks for watching and for sharing your perspective.
@@TimWelds I was same way.. Old Coast guard weldor we used 6010 just about exclusively repairing old rotten steam pipe around the base.. Took me until a couple of years ago to buy a mig machine..Thing terrified me until an old buddy came by and showed me how to set it up.. Now it's my go to machine for all but big stuff.. Take care.Eric
This is the first TimWelds video I've watched and it was very helpful. I make smokers out of old water heaters and I blow through the sheet metal sometimes, so the aluminum trick is going to get a lot of mileage. Thank you. And congratulations on 100k Subscribers.
Was there something in that link that was supposed to be helpful or was it just dropped there because this is the current highlighted comment and you wanted visibility? If there was something pertinent please direct me to the time stamp you would like me to start at. Otherwise you get a thumbs down for guerilla marketing tactics.
Tim . . . congrats on the trophy . . . you earned it my friend! I love the project and tips you shared. I will definitely be revisiting this video in the future. I may watch it 50k times just for the tips . . . the slot idea was awesome . . . thanks again.
Thank you so much! Great suggestion! Tools like jigsaws and circular saws are often overlooked when it comes to metalwork, but they can be great for certain things.
Congrats! You earned every subscriber you have! I've easily watched 10 of your videos since buying myself a cheap stick welder to weld my own exhaust. Your tips and tricks are great for anyone trying to learn the trade for whatever reason. I was also kind of relieved to see you have the same little welder I just bought. The Deko MMA-160. Keep up the great videos!!
Some good tips there Tim on how to get the job done with basic tools. - Thank you. Also, congratulations on the 100,000 subscribers award. - You make great videos, it's to be expected.
35 years experience...nice welds. Stick is always the cheapest, easiest process to use. Try those 13's on your AC/DC inverter; run 'em on AC, 70ish amps...
congrats on the button, you deserve it. and thank you for this video, it came just in time. Planning on doing some stuff and for a beginner like me, this is absolute valuable information. thanks again.
I agree congrats 👏 Do you sell the measurements? For the projects? I just ordered my dekopro After watching many of your videos I do plan on buying the courses When I have a bit more coin
Long time viewer, but infrequent commenter. This was a really excellent and helpful video, the tip with using the angle iron as a grinder guide, and the aluminium block as a conductor where something else. I'll definitely be implementing them on my next welding project!
Congratulations on the silver button! Hopefully you get another soon! I’m actually finishing HVAC class so I think after it I’ll take the Welding but not 100 percent sure just yet!
Great video! I am just getting ready to start welding and this was great! Pleas, make more minimalist videos like this ( with a arc welder and angle grinder). Considering that is all I have.
You can learn to weld. I'll show you exactly what to do in my affordable online welding courses at courses.timwelds.com.
This is what we need. Most people don't have $2000 welders, $5000 fabrication machines etc.
47 years old, and have just ordered all the bits and bobs to start arc welding. Been intimidated by the craft, but just wanted to say thank you. Hated school and channels like yours have made it possible for me to learn skills that I never thought I would. Cheers Tim, very grateful.
Congrats, Tim! Well deserved. By far the best beginner welding channel on UA-cam.
Thank you so much!
This is great. Straight to the point and "begginer" friendly. Thank you

Really enjoy the fact you show every day people with basic stuff they too can do cool stuff. Then you show them setting and rods and polarity knowledge to help them not only now but in the future.
Well deserved man.... I've learned more on this channel then I have in 6 months of an intro course in Fab
That's great you got your silver botton. I am new to welding. Just started school 2 weeks ago and how you brake everything down has been helping me better understand everything
finally, I found the tutorial I need to do some basic forms using simple tools. thanks a lot!
that bending technique were you cut first is life saver . thanks
Congratulation Tim ,I'm a new welder ,it's something I always wanted to do now at 60 ,decided to do it' what I like about your videos is the way you explain thing ,that even I can understand ,keep up the videos Tim ,there great, thank you very much ...Yves
Congrats Tim! Thanks for all the help!
Thanks so much!

Congrats on the Silver Play Button, it's well deserved, you make great videos with great instructional value.
Tim, very clear and you added nothing more than what was needed to understand the bending and welding. Well done Sir.
Just got started welding barely two weeks ago! Watched so many of you videos which have been indispensable. so much great info shared clearly and concisely! best welding education content on youtube. 100k subscribers well deserved!!
That play button is rad. You rock!
Thanks Daniel! Appreciate it!
Sooo many good tips in a small time span. Thanks so much, Tim.

Congratulations, Tim. You deserve it.
Thank you very much, Mel! I always appreciate your comments!
I watched your video after cutting what will be a table into smaller pieces because I didnt know how to bent 3mn sheets. I wish Ive seen it before!
Congratulations! One of the best channels.
I like the project because there is an endless possibility only limited by imagination. All providing practice
Thanks so much!
Great Idea Tim on the way to Bend the Sheetmetal without using a Brake.
With good cut off wheels you can make 100% straight cuts freehand. I use the 1mm thick 3M Cubitron cut off wheels. Yes, they are expensive but they cut like hell and last forever.
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll have to give those wheels a try.
Cubitrons are the best! Your right, you pay for them, but they are great.
Great video as usual. One thing I will mention, however, is this:
Acetone is a known carcinogen. Rubbing alcohol is a much cheaper and safer solvent to remove magic marker lines.
Thanks for talking measurements in both Imperial and metric
Congratulations Tim welding keep the steel welding
Congrats on the 100k Award Tim!

Congratulations Tim well deserved! Everyone can learn including season old guys. Great stuff keep it up

Using the aluminum as a heat sink great idea
Thanks for the tips ( especially about drilling corners) on layout . I'm curious , what was the thickness of the material that you where using ? Thanks
I was wondering as well. Found it in a previous comment. He said 16 gauge. 1.5mm for metric friends.
Thanks for cm and mm information. Very professional.
Congrats on 100k subscribers! Love your channel!
Thanks so much!!
Woo hoo! Congratulations on the growth.
Thanks a ton!

Grinder and Paint makes you the Welder you Aint!! Hahahahaha, almost killed me with this one!!! Thanks Master!!
Awesome idea thanks Tim, I need to make a draw for my drill bits this will be the perfect way to do it. I was going to use sheet metal and angle iron 🤔🤷🏼
Ti , thanks for thee tips!, I just subscribed mid video. I liked it.
It helped me loose the fear to do sheet metal without all the machines needed.
Great channel and content Tim.
Well deserved.

it's rough but it's cheap and it works everywhere....
Congrats Tim. You deserve it. Great content from a great guy.
Thank you, Joe!
Congrats , just subscribed. I’ve had a stick weld machine for years and have never used it myself so am taking lessons from you channel. So far so good I’ve welded two steel rebars together 😁✌🏾

6013 IS NOT A BAD ROD!!! It gets a bad rap in USA but is specified for root weld in most other countries..
I learned 6010 and 7018 in welding school; I guess I just gravitate toward what I know best. Through this doing this channel, I've become aware of what a staple 6013 is in so much of the world. Thanks for watching and for sharing your perspective.

Greetings from England, fantastic channel! I use a jigsaw with metal blade for sheet metal as a cheaper option.
Thank you so much! Great suggestion! Tools like jigsaws and circular saws are often overlooked when it comes to metalwork, but they can be great for certain things.
First time im peeking in. Looks promising👍
Congrats, Tim! Thanks for all the great videos, you’ve taught me so much!
this is awesome. you showed some great techniques. thanks!
Congratulations on you 100k subscribers. Definitely deserve it. I wouldn’t be an amateur welder if it wasn’t for your channel
You mean that you would be an amateur welder if it wasn't for Tim's channel
Thank! I appreciate that!
Keep up the great work you helped me out with your videos congratulations 🎉

Congrats on 100k Tim! Well deserved, you’ve been doing a great job. I always learn a lot and enjoy your videos. Thank you!
Nice idea with the Ali heat sink. I'm going to try that
Thanks! I have a bunch of aluminum bars that I clamp to stainless steel to help reduce distortion. No reason it can't work for stuff like this.
That's some good information. Thanks Tim, Congrats!
Really great stuff, always learn something useful! 👍
I score the bend line instead of plunge cutting it. Bend seems more crispy, but obviously not as strong
Some good tips there Tim on how to get the job done with basic tools. - Thank you. Also, congratulations on the 100,000 subscribers award. - You make great videos, it's to be expected.
Your channel is great. Congratulations on the UA-cam play button. Best wishes from Spain.
Thank you so much, Diego!
Congrats on 100k! Your videos were integral to convincing me to start learning. Just started with stick welding a couple days ago.
Great tips and a nice little project! I need something similar for my shop, so I'm gonna give this a shot!

Thanks! I don't have any project plans available right now...I'm often just winging it :)
Congrats on the button!
And I think I’ll be replicating this design, or something quite similar to it!
This is a really good video. Maybe one of your best. Definitely worthy of the upcoming gold play button ;)
Thank you so much!
Congratulations Tim!! I’ve loved watching and learning from your videos in my journey of learning about welding. 🙂
Another great video - lots of tips and nice and easy to follow for a beginner like me. Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Congrats on the 100k subs! 100% deserved
Thank you so much!
reminds me of the time I started and I had to cut everything with a 4.5 or 5" grinder .... and then plasma was a total game changer .... ...
Long time viewer, but infrequent commenter. This was a really excellent and helpful video, the tip with using the angle iron as a grinder guide, and the aluminium block as a conductor where something else. I'll definitely be implementing them on my next welding project!
Maybe I missed this, but what gage sheet metal are you working with? Thanks
This is 16 gauge. That's my go-to thickness for most parts other than signs, which I use 18 gauge for.
Tim is like Kevin James's smarter brother
Great information. Thanks.
Congratulations on the silver button! Hopefully you get another soon! I’m actually finishing HVAC class so I think after it I’ll take the Welding but not 100 percent sure just yet!

That was a good idea to use stick welder, I hardly use my.
send cut send is good!
I liked the comment you made that this is a "real world video!" Congrats on the 100k subs! I'm a proud one myself. Good content, it helps me a lot!
V
Thanks a ton!
Great vids. Keep them going
What about slightly angle the part, so you run downhill and kept minimal burn throught ?
Good content in your videos!
Thx
