I am a coded welder from lincolnshire, stumbled across one of your videos and now watching the back catalogue. Interesting vids with nice explanations. Subbed.
My ae86 is in Hawaii Rusting from the top down I need to find someone who can really help with some repairs I try bondo it’s messy and shitty like a dental filling will crack and micro leak..... I liked this vid very informative
Love the Welders Tan... 😏 That ride is gonna be a beauty. Appreciate you speaking sense that even a bloke from Wisconsin understands. Thank you. Got 2 replace the bottom corners of my 05' Trailblazer Door so this video is gonna help loads.
Good evening, great video. Lots of expertise and creativity. And you don't use a building full of high dollar equipment. I do like the use of the gilbo sheet metal snips. They really have a precise ability to do fine cutting. Thanks and you take care. Good luck.
I learned the hard way. Take your time and spot weld it. Cool it off with air. It doesn't take a lot of heat to warp the metal a lot way up from the welding spot. I hope I learned anyway.
Keep a close gap with each tack it will want to close up so grind it almost flush and hammer and dolly the weld to stretch it back out the gap will open back up again use that as a reference rinse and repeat all the way along as you tack make sure your flush then come back and fill the gaps 5 tacks at a time grind and hammer and dolly again then planish until finished once you learn to stretch the shrunk weld area back out heat isn't an issue either because you can stretch it back out so you can move much quicker.
I could follow most of it as I've done some welding at the body shop thats a nice neat tool 8:58 he used to space out the lip to fold skin around underhood.
Very interesting! The time flew by! I don't weld, but hoping to get into it and play around with some metal soon. Looking forward to your other videos.
My vehicle has rust near the sunroof metal is gone I might try to tackle this job,I do tacks at work mothing more than that so hopefuly it comes out good
Definitely be careful with those fingers! I just barely nicked one and pretty sure that wheel could take it off like nothing. Your video is helpful. Thank you! :)
It's funny, as i've worked with metal over the years and always listened n learned as much as possible from pro's with more years in the game, they explain it like metal is a breathing creature more akin to wood with grains and crystals. lol. Metallurgy is quite an art.
@11:01 got a cut on the thumb, really important to wear safety gears, I know it can sometimes obstruct the workmanship, but the mastery skill will be gone if unable to practise his skills anymore! Take care!
Thanks for the tips getting ready to takle some swiss cheese on my fifty dodge pick up overly excited to get into it tryingnto retain as much information as i can before starting
I have been watching your videos for some time now and like the way you shoot them, I love they way he can turn his hand to any job with such a high level of knowledge & experience but always with common sense approach, I try to do the same with my videos but i don‘t have anybody to film them for me lol, I would love for you both to take a look at a few of mine and let me know what you think, Cheers Dave
Good work and Good welding tech !!! We also have rich experience in sheet metal fab, we are a strong manufacturer in China, with high quality and competitive price.
Compound bends are the hardest to make. Yes you need to shape them first or pie or slit cut and weld up the corners to release the stress and weld up the cuts.
Hi, sir your work is really amazing 👏 . Sir I have question can we make our own car design I mean car outer metallic body with all appropriate tools and machines
I once saw our instructor use copper or some non ferrous metal at times then cover gaps created by blow through; he'd go back over them with that material and the weld would sit nice and flush, didn't stick to the scrap either. even acted as a heat sink.
welding from either ends towards the center is not good, your panel will have a huge hump by the time you get to the middle. stay in the same direction. spread out small welds, use a blow gun where it gets a bit hot. very nice work, could just be a little different with the heat spreading and avoid bad warps
I think he is still trying to close that wound with a sheet metal patch . So kiddos do not work with grinders or any sheet metal tools with out any PPE I been working with sheet metal for 28 years and it will send to the ER every time you slip up ! You are a master of your craft Sir .
Great craftsmanship old school very talented impressed work is amazing Will eventually will wind up seeing an eye doctor fir surgery as well as a skin doctor for melanoma skin cancer Safety glasses gloves and just put the helmet down or get an auto darkening helmet
This video screams 25+ years experience just seeing how he just casually (or at least seemed like it) cut and shaped the metal. Also what dolly set are you using, looking to buy a good set. Great video and awesome editing to make it flow.
so the helmets there incase the inspecta comes along? i also enjoyed the precision measuring instrument to scribe your lines, I just started welding and fabricating in my garage, and i practice better safety than this.
He will make an ophthalmologist a lot of money eventually. Great skill but such a cavalier attitude to eye safety. I see cataracts in his future if a penetrating injury from the grinder doesn't get him to surgery earlier.

Making something hard look easy, No fancy explanation's just lots of skill and experience. Nice on mate.
Thanks 👍
No doubt , I’m a body guy and it motivates me to use less and less filler for worthy cars !
Yes, i agreed
when you wear the helmet but just close your eyes instead
epic fail
I was gonna suggest an auto darkening helmet for xmas. Otherwise spot on fabrication from a true craftsman.
Yea a lot of boilys do this ahahaha
Or, alternatively - when you've got enough welding experience you can do it with your eyes closed!
Yeah not only can you still burn your corneas through your eyelids. Eyelids also provide no protection against shrapnel. Only dust protection.
Like the calendar above the workbench..hahahaha. Great video! Thank you.
When you make something thats really really hard look this eazy, thats when you know your a pro. Great video mate!
Thanks Richard!
Love watching not only a master of is trade but also obsessed with restoring, modifying, driving well anything that has wheels n a engine lol.
Yep that's Ash alright!
What a great teacher! Camera man did excellent as well.
Thank you kindly, glad you liked it!
God bless you guys! As a novice I've been trying to get no gap thinking I would burn though...now I know better, thanks!
Cheers Joe, glad it helped! If you've got any questions just let us know!
You can tell this man has a lot of experience and failures. Incredible craftsmanship and teaching. Thank you for the upload!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What a thickness of sheet metal?
thumbs up from a US hot rod builder you teach well you tellem why you do it that way good job!
Thanks, appreciate that!
I always like true quality metal repairs instead of bondo repairs... Thumbs Up

Big gash on his hand, no big deal! Keep at it. Separating the men from the boys! I love it. Metal work isn’t for everyone!

A good stong magnet will get all those tiny metal splinters out of your eye there Mate!
Love the calender

You're right. And in the right hands metal appears to be incredibly flexible, pliable and adaptable.
hmm. metallurgy is a science, and the majority of metal workers don't have the first clue about it.
Absolutely mustard mate 👌

IMO patch panels on those old 18 or 16 gauge cars are easy compared to the 20 gauge or 19 gauge VW ones. they warp so much easier.
Great work ol scout, I’ll be watching for more tips and tricks so I can do my projects

Welding like this is vey easy and I do it too.. Although you will be increasing your skin to the harmful arc rays...
I think it’d be easier to flick the helmet down than squint that hard... lol. Great vid
Good call, couldn't agree more!
Id put some rust protection on before folding that edge..

ABSOLUTELY!! Fitzee's Fabrications!
No welding gloves while welding or grinding (resulting in a ground thumb) and a safety squint? Never understood the aversion to PPE...

Why where a welding helmet if you’re going to use it. Grinding and welding without safety glasses?
Keep your gas flow on the work after ewlding
Mig doesn't work like that.
So what is the helmet for?
Its for welding, when welding the light is extremely bright and can severely damage your eyes without that helmet.
