I'll be real, I adore the studio killers art style. Now that I'm an art student coming back to this song after several years, i understand that 3d models are really hard to animate properly so the fact you guys have had it down so well for over a decade is amazing to me. I have no idea if the Studio Killers crew will ever see this but I'd love to know: What programs do you guys use to model and animate? (this goes for both 2D and 3D)

Blender is the most likely, since it's always been free since it came out in like 2007. And yeah I agree getting your topology right to where you can actually animate something organic is a NIGHTMARE
they may have have used Maya, as it was very popular even in the early 2000s. Thier are legal versions that cost a lot or that you get for educational or work use, and there are.... versions you are more likely to run into in certain overseas studios that have been cracked :p
@aurorauplinks I was taught how to use Maya when i was in uni, and I'll be real with you, after using the program for 2 years, I never figured out how to properly retexture and topologize things to look this smoothly, so if thats the program they went for, I'm all the more impressed

Can I just say, that in 2011 of all years, they had a completely rendered and detailed 3D model fully interacting with a 2D frame-by-frame animation... wow. Just wow.

3D animation was everywhere in the 2000s. It really isn’t that impressive.
This is really not that impressive. Ever played a video game? The art in this video is unmistakable and deserves credit, but it was hardly revolutionary.
Anybody know why the 3D animation in their next video "Eros and Apollo" is not nearly as high quality as this? It's very stiff and static. Where this video's movement and dynamism is good even by today's standards.

Actually, this is what happens when you let an artist have his/her way. We don't see the world the same way others do, and sometimes, what makes sense to us, doesn't make any sense to others. We often see the world in a less realistic way, more colorful or colorless, and emotionally involved with it. Not saying that the way you see the world is wrong and ours is right, just different. I don't see anyone having crack to make this because I've done this type of things on my own, and it's usually when my emotions are on the right side and I want to express them.
