I say this with a lot of love, because I WANT this show to succeed. And I understand it's only a pilot.
But this is an awkward start for this show. Too much happens too quickly, we don't really get a proper introduction to the characters, and there are a lot of weird cuts in the video that makes it feel choppy.
I really love the art style and there's a lot of cool potential here that I hope gets fleshed out in future episodes
Edit: additionally, I do not agree with the comments saying go back to music. SK are trying something new and I think it can be good and introduce new music if done properly

@@lou3998 It doesn't really establish or introduce the characters well. I barely caught some of their names and I'm not really interested in any of them because none really shine in this episode.
Additionally, the world being in cyberspace isn't a bad idea but it's executed in a way that's gonna...age poorly. Planet Jeff being related to Reddit is going to look kinda cringe in the future. But I hope that the show will expand on these ideas and make them into more structured concepts.
There's also no time to digest the world, I really had a hard time keeping track of where we were in time and location bc it was going too quickly.
There's a lot of potential in this episode, I'm not saying its a waste. But a lot needs improved and worked on more.
Honestly the pacing could've been fixed by literally just pausing between conversations and showing more scenic shots. Not to mention not cutting every half a second during action scenes to keep it more coherent
that's typically how pilots are tho. They aren't (esp these days) meant to be "episode 0s" they're meant to showcase as much of your idea as much as possible to catch the attention of network executives and producers. Almost no shows that make it to air look ANYTHING like their pilots. SO it was likely intentional that they skipped on pacing and story introduction to focus more on the visuals and style of comedy/writing.
hope that helps, im seeing a lot of comments about pacing and while it's def good feedback for the team to keep in mind going forward, it's likely more of a result of what i mentioned and not bad writing/editing etc. ^-^ (i mean..it could be but... from my experiences the former tends to be true)
@@Heliocanix While I understand that, you still want to introduce the characters somewhat. We know who these characters are because we're in the fandom, but if I showed this to someone new, they'd be very lost. Even in other pilots I've seen, they were slow enough that you could get a feel for the characters to a degree so you would want to see their relationships flourish and be fleshed out. And I don't know anything about these characters and their dynamics.
The point of the pilot is to make the viewer want more and I was just mostly confused by the end because I didn't know what was going on a lot of the time. I think there is a lot of potential and I hope the show is a lot slower, but this wasn't a start that really hooked me in.
What a strange pilot, it does feel like we missed an episode or something. Since the pilot kept going so fast I didn’t get to understand what was happening exactly, but it is a pilot so I shouldn’t be complaining. The animation style is very interesting and i do want it to become something bigger and better.
Normally pilots are totally different from the actual show, say like supernatural, bojack horseman, steven universe
@@Dextea They are basically to give the initial viewers a taste of what the show can be. Steven Universe's pilot was designed as what the show could be, though it was ultimately watered down to not spend so much on animation, though I still love it. The criticism with this show is that it is way too fast paced, to me it feels more like an oversized trailer than a pilot.
Cherry's personality is really off. I think it resembles modern cartoons too much. I love your style, I'd love to see something that is not based on other shows, but rather a piece of art that stands out - as did your other works :)
It kinda makes me sad that all the comments offering real criticism to this pilot have been bumped down by other comments. They had genuine advice on how to improve the show for its future release, I hope that Studio Killers read at least a few of them.

I just want to say this pilot is what it is, a pilot. NOT a finished series. I just hope the constructive criticism comments aren’t just dismissed as “hate comments” by “haters”. Those comments are more than that, we LOVE Studio Killers and we do LOVE this amazing pilot, those that are commenting constructive criticism just want to see this possible series grow into its highest potential! I hope I am making some sense. Good Luck Studio Killers!

Yes! Pretty much all the issues are basic pilot issues anyway. Meaning they wanted to put ALL of the ideas into one episode but that means that no one thing gets enough time to settle in. If you made the first episode basic exposition, viewers would have enough context for what's happening in episode 2. But if you only get one episode for a pilot, a basic exposition doesn't show what the series is about and what it can do but if you skip over the exposition, which this pilot unfortunately does for the most part, viewers have no ides what's going on for most of the time.
Funfact: by saying not for kids, it actually attracts more kids.

I hate seeing videos like this and seeing a bunch of 14 year olds like you talking about/mentioning being 14 In the comments like it's funny when thay can cause the channel creater to be fined for saying their video is not for kids yet tons of kids younger than they claim the videos target audience is, are in their comments UA-cam could see them and deem that the video is infact for kids (especially with it being an animation and coppa claiming there is are no adult animations)And it's not small fine either.

I really like the idea of characters and an animated show, but I'm kind of wondering why this show just seems to be like a wink and a nod to all of your gripes as creators? Like it's totally 100% valid to have those gripes, but I think it stops feeling like a story about characters and starts feeling more about creators who are just upset about some things and are directly telling me those things. Which makes it kind of less fun and more of just a reminder about things that are kind of bad or unfortunate. Like is this the specific platform with which you should make the point about people pirating music? I dunno.

the weirdest part about the whole "don't pirate music" bit is that ... i can almost guarantee you that there is next to NO ONE "stealing" SK's music... it's all already public anyways, why tf would someone need to pirate it in any way? and if they're saying this about other music, it feels like the whole "you wouldn't download a car, would you?!" kind of commercial. LOL.
exactly what I was thinking, I always perceived Cherry as smooth spoken and mature character with a delicate yet confident nature. This version of her wasn't what I was expecting at all and feels incredibly generic :(

its so disappointing because cherry always stood out for being different, in music videos and clips of her she was always shown to be a confident go with the flow character who is quirky in this she is incredibly generic and dull even down to her accent i dont understand why they changed her so much shes unrecognisable outside of her actual appearance
yeah it's even less about her voice to me even with the inconsistency, it's that her whole attitude is different than her vlogs and songs. I figure she would be more cool, calm and collected. Kind of apathetic or like you said, nonchalant

Not gonna lie, this pilot was all over the place. The voice acting and animation was pretty nice though but the way the pilot was structured kinda put me off as well as confuse me. Hope the actual show is better.

@@teekosaurusrex valid valid I was like that in my sophomore year. I still favor some of their songs like Bedroom Eyes and Raincoat. But once the fans have been saying OTTB sounded like they were saying "Bowser" then they started to go along with it I started to cringe :(
Honestly not a big fan of the voice for cherry, it just doesnt feel raspy enough like her singing voice is. But im super excited to see more of this! Wishing the best for you guys

To be honest, I don't feel like this was a very successful pilot. It seems to operate off of the assumption that we already know these characters - which, to be fair, most of us watching this do, but the whole idea is to shop this to people who presumably haven't listened to the band, right? But even for those of us who are familiar with them, why are they suddenly travelling through the internet when that's never really been a part of their general mythos? The pace is breakneck, but at the same time, the really salient parts of the plot - who our heroes and the villain are, why they're travelling across the internet, Cherry's abilities - are very quickly skimmed over in favor of random internet jokes about Redditors, piracy, and porn. It simultaneously feels like a lot of things happened, but none of it really contributed to my understanding of what the show wants to be.
On the positive side, I do like the visual style, the animation was solid, and the voice acting was pretty good, though Mr. Data was a little hard to understand at times.
I think perhaps this might have benefitted from being a half-hour episode rather than 15 minutes; that way, we could have had a little more time to establish our characters and the central conceit of the plot.
I have very similar feelings about this. The biggest problem was pacing which led this all feel very confusing because lot's of things were not explained at all. Now many here say that it's just a pilot but what is important to realize that pilot is exactly the thing you use to advertise your creation to people who might want to buy it and thus give you money to make more of it. I didn't really feel invested in to this and I'm afraid to think do those people either? Especially if they are no familiar with SK.
I think even a full 15 minute episode could have given them enough time to achieve more

Cherry's voice inconsistencies is very disappointing. For the first minute she has a British accent, but for the rest of the episode she doesn't? Cherry's voice in other Studio Killers vlogs is very unique, and you can tell they wanted her 'talking' voice to sound like the vocalist's in the actual songs. People have speculated for a long time that Teemu Brunila is the vocalist who plays Cherry in the songs, and idk if they have ever confirmed it, but Cherry's boring voice in this pilot falls SOOOOOO flat compared to the beautiful and unique vocals in the music. The vocals in Studio Killer's music is what made me fall in love with them in the first place when they released Ode To The Bouncer, so it's disappointing that they went with /this/ voice for the animated show.

I noticed that too, but it seems more like an issue with how Cherry speaks in general. When it comes to speaking she has always had a sultry-sassy vibe, not much emotional range (no panic, no befuddlement, etc). So when we finally hear it... It sounds off?
Though the audio itself sounds different too. Like the music and short videos have a filter over her voice and in the pilot it's not there. Either that or Cherry's sultry-sassy voice is really just that pronounced compared to her other tones.
For a pilot it did well enough. At least they did way better than High Spice Guardian.

well, there's a lot to unpack.
I want to preface this by saying that negatives aside, i *adore* this art vomit-esque style, its a clash of different vibrant visual elements that is true to the Studio Killers image.
I have been a long time fan since first discovering "Ode To The Bouncer" and their eventual album release (I'm still praying that "Cosmonaut" gets release someday)
However, sadly i'm not sure those factors alone will keep me invested in this new venture.
This was really just not it. The jokes and references feel unoriginal, borderline offensive and pointless and the plot is just not fleshed out enough, that could be attributed to the episode starting off at a 10 instead of having a gradual build up from a 1. I understand that this is a pilot, but that's meant to leave us wanting *more*, the only thing this has left me wanting is for some sense to be made of what i've just seen.
I also don't know if this is trying to imitate the Magical Girl genre but i'd be really disappointed if so. I'm tired of seeing this wholesome and tender subgenre being abused.
I'll keep tabs, mainly because i want to make more sense of what the story will be, and what direction this animation is hoping to go down. Is it a parody of reality or a portent of the society we live in? I'm hoping that MGS reference was more than an opportunity to get a popular name in for views ...
(EDIT) I absolutely do not condone the harsh comments of 'just go back to music' and anything making fun of the animation and art style.

Yes I agree! I was so excited for the pilot but it let me down. Instead of aiming for a funny relatable show filled with meme references, they should've written a compelling story instead
Totally agree with this, I think I was so used to the high quality of their music videos that I thought this pilot would be like them, too bad it wasn't like that
i think this has potential. The overall story was kind of hard for me to follow, everything kind of moved too fast for me and the writing was a little confusing too. but I really love the character deigns and color so much! there were specific scenes that were so beautiful artistically. I really loved the scene were cherry realized bipolar bear was just gone and she was floating alone in space with him. I this would work extremely well as a comic.
This feels like it has so much potential, yet the plot, deliveries of lines, and some of the animation just aren’t doing it for me. But the style is wonderful.

@@matiasmartinez720 The only reason I am able to listen to it on UA-cam is because fans reuploaded the original music video and got archived before it was deleted and the second part of your answer is completely false. After they sold the song it was removed from all official sources where it could be streamed or bought including Spotify and Apple Music.
Also is it really "stealing" if they no longer own it? Considering the inferior OMI cover it's no surprise people have no choice but to pirate the original or listen to it from second party sources.

I’ve been waiting for this since backing the OG kickstarter… and I really wish I loved it. I don’t hate it but it wasn’t quite what I expected either. I know my comment will probably get washed away in the numbers but in case you guys see it, I have some constructive feedback:
Positives first
- I loved the animation in the transformation scenes. It felt smoother than the rest and I think breaking out the good animation for that was really excellent. Pretty much all of pornica moving around was really well animated too. You can really feel her size and impact.
- I really appreciate the “show not tell” approach to throwing the audience into the world
- I see a lot of influences from things I love. Cherry’s phone reminds me of BMo from adventure time, and Mrs. Pannkaka-Pow gives me lady raineacorn vibes with her lines not being in discernible english. Pornica feels like an adult version of a powerpuff girl villain.
Criticisms:
- I was pretty surprised there was no musical number, given that studio killers is a band. I wasn’t necessarily expecting a never before heard song, but I WAS expecting a musical number as part of the narrative, like cherry using music as a literal weapon against Pornica, or actually putting on a concert number to get the hearts from the Jeffs needed to escape. With the mildly retro elements (like cassette tapes) I'd been under the impression this whole that it would have an early MTV vibe- where the point is the music and entire shows were built around the presence of a musical number.
- Although I did like the "show not tell" approach like I said, I think the execution needs some work. It is a lot to understand at first. By the end I was feeling like I was getting a better grasp on it all, but i was pretty confused for the first couple minutes especially.
- This is a personal taste thing, but I don’t care for the art style when animated. I think it works better as static illustration and a different style would suit the animation better. Studio Killers have used other styles in the past and I think it’s ok to have more than one, for different purposes.
- I’m just having trouble connecting this with the rest of studio killers’ collective, it doesn’t quite have the same vibe to me. In contrast, I think the dirty car music video hit the nail on the head, although I can’t point to specifically why that one did it for me and this didnt.
Congratulations on launching the pilot. I know you guys have been working on this for years and I don’t want to take that away from you. I know this is just the start and it’s got room to grow.

Cherry's voice is super cute but I think it would really cool if she sounded more like she does in the songs, like really uniquely deep and funky. Not sure if the singer could do her VA too but that would be really cool...
Only other thing is I kind of liked when Cherry was sort of 'ugly cute', rather than just cute. I understand for an animated series the main character has to be cute and 'attractive' but I loved her weird makeup and unique facial features from the old videos!
I would prefer a story following the lives of these characters in everyday scenarios rather than a (cyber) space adventure tbh
The thing is I'm pretty sure they're trying to convey how their band is just a tiny part of cyberspace and how some things become forgotten and insignificant while others take over, and if they don't fight for it, they will too so id say it's good

I have a LOT of thoughts on this pilot, but for now, as someone who's been listening to you guys since 2013 and backed the kickstarter, I'm disappointed. For a pilot that's supposed to bring about new music, there was no big musical moment. I was expecting for there to be some sort of big moment of a new song that could've been the climax. A miniature music video within the larger episode. This show is supposed to be about a band, right? There should be more music. It never felt like the members of Studio Killers the characters were part of a band.
You can do better. I know it. I want you guys to succeed. This is a start. There's a foundation for ideas here, and it all has potential. I hope to see more of this show and that it only gets better and better.
Yes! This comment nails it; they needed a music MOMENT. Don't tell me they're a band, show me they're a band. It'd make the annoyance with Jeff/piracy have some actual weight too lol
I really like the art direction and the animation is quite good for an independent project. The pacing was a little too fast at some points. It felt like you wanted to introduce so many things at once. That's something quite a few pilot episodes suffer from so I'm interested to see how that develops in future episodes because I could really feel this series shine in the slower moments, especially when Pornica was on screen. She was awesome.

I really liked the style, but I didn't understand anything about the story...
Well, that was rather rushed. Kinda feels like the storyboard was missing some dialogue or was trimmed for time. Set-up shots were missing, settings not really established in the front half. I think a bit more 'in universe' information is necessary. Maybe fleshing out goals a little cleaner.
Bipolar bear is missing? Where's the crew searching. Use the search to establish where the ship is, point out that it's "in the internet". Audience doesn't need to know why, cause there's a goal in "finding bipolar bear".
Hopefully y'all stick with it. I appreciate the visual design and of course the soundtrack. But the writing and pacing are the squeaky hinge here
I'll admit the episode is a little jarring. Like you're starting a series, but instead of starting at episode 1, you start off on episode 10. It's that kind of confused feeling.
But I love the animation, and I hope you guys explore more of this whacky world along with it's characters 💕💖

I sorta understand this being a test episode. It's a pilot, after all, and pilots are supposed to show what the full series can be. It's not the first episode, but a demonstration of what the average episode would be.
It's a bit stiff, but watching it whole gave me an idea or what to expect on the future episodes

☆I really like the idea of cherry transforms into different clothes (magical girl vibes) Imagine, every fight, new kewt clothes
☆Pornica will be a final boss (Would be funny if she had a song with a beat starting with you know you know)
☆I do miss the old cherry vibes with the -diva laid back tone- of her voice, tho ngl the voice actress did a great job, but cherry in a clearer view (which is the fully animated, that shows her personality and how she talks) I didn't expect her personality to be like that, well...its sorta the usual protag personality imo...
Also this is still a pilot, and we still haven't had the whole picture
But hey I love Studio Killers since I was in Highschool, I hope they can still keep up! The artists worked hard, so let's not bash it down, and appreciate their hardwork.
as a hardcore studio killers fan this certainly isn't horrible but it is disappointing. no real plot except for 'we make our characters say what we want to say and they're on the internet'. love the art. pornica is my favorite character out of all of them because she's actually interesting, fun, and has a very cool design. none of the members of the main crew stick as much as she does, nor are they as entertaining. i think this could do with some better writing, and maybe a few redesigns. cherry and jenny are the only memorable (barely) members of the crew at this time.
Pornica admittedly is really goddamn cool. Other than that… this is really boring.
I wasn’t expecting Cherry to have that personality. I feel like she needs something different. Way different. I hope you guys succeed in this project! ❤️

Honestly, i don’t think it’s awful- it has potential, but needs a lot of work.
Firstly, the lip sync and certain parts of animation are somewhat choppy, but that’s probably an issue of budget and roughness that pilots usually have.
Secondly, the plot feels.. weak. Cyperspace, social commentary on the internet, and all that stuff is good and can make for an interesting plot- but it’s not presented in a super great way here. The humor is weak, and mainly centered around very borderline and basic things about the internet (ex. porn, shitposts, incels on reddit, etc.) that could be expanded upon to be way more interesting.
My main problem is that it feels very corporate and like it didn’t have a lot of personality behind it. Cherry doesn’t feel as raw, ugly, confident, and unique as she used to. She gives off more basic tough girl vibes then what she used to be like. Dyna, Mink and Jenny are all iconic and interesting imo- but the unicorn girl and Mrs. Pankaka Pow were less distinct and kinda felt thrown together for the sake of a bigger cast. Old studio killers content felt more weird and bold: with Cherry having a less stereotypically attractive face, having the voice of a male singer, wearing really obscure outfits. and being very daring and taking shit from no one- as well as the music having a less mainstream pop sound to it. This however feels more like a cheap Adult Swim show that could be popular for a week because people were excited to have good LGBTQ rep finally, and then not staying for the plot.
i feel like if it centered more on the band itself, as well as Cherry and Jenny’s relationship it could be a lot better- because at the moment it feels like it’s tryharding to be quirky and funny. “LOL internet porn *fart joke*” type shit can’t go that far and can’t carry an entire show.
There should also be more clear motivations behind the characters: Are they just trying to survive in cyperspace and get their band afloat, or is there a bigger motive? Why is Cherry being a magical girl important? Where and when did these characters meet eachother? What is this looming threat- as Pornica seemed to have blown up with the Jeff planet? What are hearts? Are they equivalent to likes or…? Why are they (hearts) a big deal? What does Pornica even want from the Studio Killers?
I think a show that’s more a slice of life/drama/whatever with some social commentary in it, that’s mainly centered around Cherry and Jenny’s romance and their band would fit the cast WAY more than this weird, “quirky”, 2015 humor, internet commentary show would. I think focusing more on the art and music and having a light but not boring plot would be perfect; even dialogue in general could be skipped and just focused on it being a musical art experience with easy to understand story details. Maybe even a short film would work better, at least as a starting point.
My main advice would be stop focusing on weird meta humor and more on the band itself, character dynamics, music and art. Also, please, please, please- take time to flesh things out. The art way be super unique and pretty but the pacing makes it hard to watch. This feels more like a trailer that’s a collection of random clips that won’t make sense until you watch the movie- but instead of a trailer, it’s a pilot. Good luck to y’all, though! I love your music and I hope this will go far; with some changes, reworks of characters and the plot- this could be really, really good.

I think the idea is great, but the pilot could use a couple of adjustments. Internet culture moves very fast and references become dated extremely quickly, so it might have been better to shift to a more universe-specific internet culture that doesn't necessarily mirror real life, to add some longevity and to not date the series. Another problem is the pacing. The dialogue moves way too fast and doesn't give the audience enough time to process what's going on. Finally, I think the episode is missing a very clear conflict. The characters' only goal here is to "figure out what's going on" which doesn't really get solved in a satisfying way especially because they seem to be at least a little bit familiar with cyberspace. I really do hope they give it another shot because the aesthetics are spot-on.
i can definitely say with confidence that this is in no way a bad pilot, it just needs a bit of polish
hopefully it gets picked up somewhere or they find a way to make more episodes so they can flesh out the world and characters
There is definitely room for improvement HOWEVER if someone picks this up and makes it an actual show it will be 10 times better

I really loved the visual direction of this like I do with all Studio Killers videos, but the plot and characters seriously need work. No one was really introduced, it feels like the plot was just cobbled together out of nothing, theres unclear motivations for the characters, a confusing setting and generally just way, way too much happening all at once. This is a lovely start but please, please try and make the concept more readable in the future.
I understand the criticism from the comments; the writing and storyboarding could use some work. However as an animator myself I can tell a lot of love and effort went into this! The idea for the show truly has big potential, gives me rick and morty vibes when it comes to the traveling through dimensions, except they're on the internet so literally everything and anything is possible; while it doesn't mean the main characters are invincible.
I love the creativity of the character designs, I think my favorite so far is Pornica! Wonderful art direction, amazing voice acting, super fun ideas, I guess the only thing I would suggest is keep the blood/violence at a minimum, but that's just my take. Otherwise I think you guys are on the right track: keep working, keep improving, and overall don't lose the passion you have for this project!

People can grow and change as artists. Imagine being forced to make the same sounding music for years on end. Sounds terrible. Look at the other most famous virtual band, the Gorillaz. They're all over the place even on the same album. Don't pigeon hole artists. It's shortsighted and neither you nor them deserve it

Idk if you've seen behind the scenes for The Shining but the lady who played the mother/wife was put through multiple shots of the same scene because the director didn't get enough emotion for his scene. My final opinion of this is as follows:
Characterization: The majority of characters have a lot of charm. A MAJORITY at least. It's kinda sad though that some of the main characters don't have a proper personality yet, and I feel it's because there's a lot to work with here. It is a common mistake plot-hole that creative people, including myself, can run into. The introductions we're flat as well making the ironing of this much worse. Since memory loss is a core feature to this pilot however, there is a high chance to put things in line correctly and give the characters the show-off they deserve. The best character in this is of course the villain, Pornica, and the least is the cyan wolf dude (my mind is pudding right now so I don't remember the name) which is kinda odd to start off with. Pornica is a very entertaining and stylized character and should root how you should continue the other characters following her.
Setting: The setting is seriously confusing and poorly introduced. We know where they are but we have no idea why they are there which is a bad start. The meta commentary does not compliment it either. The style is fine but the colors are flat and could use more eye-catching polish. Detail is very varied from too much to too little. Again, memory loss subject can change the big 'where' question, but not it's style. Work needs to be put into this category and maybe it would give it a better appeal.
Sound Design: The music is great, and the sounds are mostly fine. Nothing much else to say here other than keep adding a little spice. NOT TOO MUCH THOUGH! It shouldn't be hard for you since you make good music.
Voice Acting/Dialogue: The voices are fine with matching the characters well, it's just their delivery is so late and awkward. As well as this, more emotion needs to be put in as well. Again, the best voice acted character other than Cherry is Pornica. Over all it's fine but it's very bland. The sound mixing can also use some work; again has the same issues.
Animation: The style is AMAZING and is the best part of all of this. Every character has an eye-catching and pretty stellar design. I just wish the same can be said for the backgrounds, objects, and ESPECIALLY the animation itself. The movements range very little and extremely stiff, to fluid as fuck which does not blend well. Transitions are also very awkward, but that leads more into:
Pacing: *BREATHES IN* Bad. Very very bad. The pacing is the biggest issue of this whole pilot and it effects every subject. It is pretty difficult to crunch a massive world and tons of characters in a nearly 12 minute runtime. There is so much to take in and very little is explained. It makes everything more awkward than it already is and it's so noticeable it hurts. Timing and ironing is key to fixing this or at least make it better.
Plot: Interesting at least. It's good that it's not basic A to B and there are more conflicts to continue this story than ever. I just feel some pieces are missing. It's ironed out but something is missing.
Overall Score: 5-10: This show needs a lot of work. The memory loss core could be a key piece in making this better and make more sense. It's enjoyable but it falls kinda short. This has a lot of potential it just needs work on it's execution and punchline.
Don't get discouraged if this is not the best. Shows with awkward pilots can come back very good. A big example of that is Over The Garden Wall. With some energy, ironing, polish and spice, this can make a come back. Don't be afraid to watch other shows to give you a direction. What you have is different enough to not fall into unoriginality. I'm not excited for this, but I am interested enough to see where this goes. And most importantly, this is just a pilot and not the final product. There is room for this to improve. I feel like this could be great, but it needs better story set up. I was really confused about what was going on, where the characters were, why this Pornica character had beef with the gang, and so on. It feels like the viewer is thrown into the middle and end of a story and we missed the first half. But I love this music, the animation, the voice acting and character designs!
The writing especially the character talking is a bit unnatural but the art is gorgeous and the premise is pretty cool. Please make more!

The dialogue isn’t exactly natural - take for example 0:47 - 0:55. Nobody told cherry that she couldn’t do this , and the way she says ‘I said , I got this!’ just doesn’t seem sincere.
it doesn’t feel like it’s telling an actual story rather than line after line after line. It feels like the characters are just saying something and then someone says something else and then someone says another thing, no room for visual storytelling . They just say everything out loud

I love the character designs, animation style is great and obviously the music is a good ol chefs kiss. But it feels like the story wasn't proof read and like half the pilot was lost to planet Jeff because it felt rushed and muddled.

I was wondering why Pornica is so good and familiar. I searched it up, and found out she was voiced by GREY GRIFFIN! The same VA who did Azula (Last Airbender) and Daphne (Scooby Doo).

Dialogue needs some refinement, I feel the jumpy way in which character talk to eachother is disorienting. Also quiet moments are important, they give needed rest for emotions to set in.
I think I would’ve preferred smth more “daily life”ish rather than space heroes and porn villains, Cherry doing her clothing and makeup blogs with the animated tattoos and “my outfit of the day”s used to be so much fun to watch- I rly miss the og SK but I’m glad they’re finally getting the recognition they deserve!!

That was actually really tragic. An entire planet deleted. All Jeffs deleted along with the planet. With one soul survivor never to see any of his friends again, how will he survive? I feel really bad for Jeff. I do not think he grasped the full extent of what happened. What about Bipolar Bear? He has been strangely silent through all this, not even a distress call. Could Pornica be infecting him with a trojan?

Been following you guys since 2014, and i'm kinda dissapointed. I think I speak for a large part of the fandom when I say that the thing that makes Studio Killers so unique is the mix of their music and visuals and how they compliment each other. But this time you only gave us some visual art, and nothing of music. Which I think is even more important than the visuals. I'm all in for evolving and finding a new sound, a new style, but, this is clearly directed at the demographic who discovered Jenny trough tiktok and only watched that video. where's the surreal style? the funky music? the sassy and sexy (yet powerful) personality of cherry? the cool visuals?
Everything is way to fast paced, I have almost no idea what the plot is other than "inside the internet" , and I was hoping to know more about dynamink and goldie foxx but i still have no idea who they are as characters. And the music is just forgotten in general. Visually there's a lot of room for improvement, some camera shots dont work, some cutting between scenes is way too rough, etc. There's some things I like, I think Pornica as character can work, and I like her design too. The art style is good, is just that it stays in a safe zone and doesn't try anything that can grab the viewers attention, feels generic, like lost potential.
I love you guys, I wont stop listening to your music, and I think the animation project can still work, Daft Punk's Interstella movie proves that it can be done, Gorillaz has proven it too. I feel like you're only trying to sell cool looking characters with "cool and relatable" internet names, instead of trying to tell a story trough music and visuals.
They made one song, though, I don't think we can judge that all their music will sound the same. The song they made fits with animation/background/transitions too, and in that regard it works

As much as I enjoy Studio killers, this pilot felt very underwhelming. I think the pacing was way off, like it was constantly rushing to get to the next scene. Some of the dialogue felt unnatural especially at the beginning. Speaking of the beginning, I feel like we’re kinda thrust into the world without a proper introduction, I was as confused as the characters in the beginning, it would’ve been nice to get more of an explanation. I will say, I think the animation and music is amazing and on point, it doesn’t make up for the rest of the pilot’s problems unfortunately. I did enjoy it, I just wished it had better pacing, better dialogue and a better introduction.
Long time fan since Ode to the Bouncer first dropped. About to finish film school now so I know just how time consuming, labor intensive, and expensive animation can be. I think giving 2-3 more minutes in the third act to make the conflict have a bigger payoff would really flesh it out-but again I TOTALLY get why it’s this length. It also totally works as proof of concept. I mean… fucking bravo.
No matter what everyone else is saying, I think it's amazingly impressive what the studio killers team was able to accomplish here. New beginnings are hard to wrangle, but I know that this series is going to evolve into something even more amazing! ❤ nothing but support and love
As a long time fan from around 2012-2013 I really did have high hopes for this pilot. But I do feel like it's missing an aspect that made me fall in love with the band in the first place which was how clever and dark the humour was in the music. This pilot, asides from surface level swearing and adult references didn't feel that clever or biting writing I've come to expect from a band that has written stuff like All Men Are Pigs or Ode to the Bouncer.
I really do hope for the best in the future for the band and that they get to continue making content that they want to. I just guess my expectations were different.

i really feel like there's a lot of things that are missing. Like introduction for the characters, you can't expect everyone to know them. alors i find Pornica a bit too..vague. i suppose she is a commentary of people who oversexualize things and cross boudaries but for now she just look like a critic of sexuality on the internet. i like the variety of artstyle and comentary from the point of view of the artist but again there is too little for the viewer to want to see the rest of the story. but i'll wait to see if it get better

I'm gonna disagree with you on "subtle adult themes from past songs." In Tokyo is literally about Cherry having sex with a robot. Funky At Heart talks about having sex in a car. Their music is very sexual at times, but in a sort of... almost classy way, I guess you could say. Otherwise, I agree with the rest of your comment.
Okay criticism time: Love the style, there are great ideas there but it feels a little choppy and muddied in delivery. Even with the context that the characters are confused, as a viewer I'm also confused because the pacing is kind of odd and the world-building is kind of limited and not explored enough. It's kind of like 'we're here and things are happening now' but what does it mean, ya know? Why are we scared of Pornica (even if she already seems iconic)? What are "hearts" and their function in the universe? Stories often follow the "show don't tell" rule, but with an introduction pilot, there's some 'telling' that's lacking that would help to strap in the viewer and prepare them for the ride. There's not much that we can tell from the dynamics other than 'CherryxJenny and The Gang".
So, all in all, showcasing the concept, it did that and I'm interest in learning more about the characters. But the set-up is kind of scattered. I still enjoyed myself and I am dying to see where it'll go since I really do think there's some potential. 💖

I think this has potential, but it was a bit messy. Honestly I wish we had gotten a more grounded story that maybe followed the plot of some of the songs, we could have an episode about Cherry not being able to get into the club and stuff like that.

I don't know if I'm dumb or something, but I find the plot really hard to follow and this is literally just a pilot. Also Cherry's personality just feels completely off.

Here’s some constructive criticism.
1- I think the internet lingo is going to be a little complicated for more casual viewers that don’t use the internet too much, especially sites like Reddit. Hell, I didn’t even know what Basic Bro or Jeff was. But if the point is to use internet culture, be careful not to overused.
2- I think the Villain is a little “on the nose” with the whole p❤️rn thing , and to be honest, I don’t even know what’s the point of her character. She feels like Mad Moxxi from Borderlands, but with more sex jokes and less character. I think it would be better if she was a little more menacing and she had other character traits other than “ yes, innuendo” ( Tales from Borderlands reference ). Love the character design, would love to see other villains based on other internet concepts ( Dark Web, Trolls, NFTs, etc.. )
3- The part where the yellow dot dudette person plays games with the Jeffs and kills them could have being cut out. I don’t think that scene moves the story forward and the time and animation could have being used for other characters that people are familiar with, like Mink and Foxxie, or the other characters people don’t know too much about, like Jenny and the Unicorn Boxer
4- There are sooo many questions in my mind like: “ Who’s that yellow dot and why does she likes to kill things?”, “Who’s Bipolar Bear?”, “Why does Cherry got a talking phone and when did she have Majo Shojo powers?”. To be honest, I think 11 minutes isn’t enough to answer every single question, but thankfully, this is a pilot, and that can be fixed by making this episode longer ( if a company funds the series and gives it the proper time to breathe ), or by just exploring this ideas in the future
5- Okay, I know this is a indie pilot, with a certain amount of money put into it, but I think some of the scenes ( animation, editing ) are a little janky in the execution. Also the voice acting is very stiff and unconvincing.
6- The argument about “Pirating art is bad” is a very good idea to be explored in this kinda show, but it was a little forced in this pilot
But here’s the thing, we all do mistakes, and we learn from those said mistakes, so don’t worry guys. Just keep moving forward, take the right criticisms, don’t be afraid to tackle weird and controversial topics that works in this animated universe, and go kick some ass.
Hell, just look at Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. They also didn’t have a “great” start, but they grown into something special, and I believe that ST 404 can grown into something incredible.

Although I am excited for this series, it feels too random. It’ll feels like we the viewers have been dropped into the middle of a story with no explanation of what’s happening or what they are trying to achieve or who some of the characters are. And with a main villain called Pornica maybe the viewership age should be raised to 18? But the visuals and art style are amazing and it feels so good to see a full length video!

I love this! All the characters are distinct and their designs are *chef’s kiss*. If I had to offer one piece of advice, I feel like the mood changes are too abrupt. Pornica came out of left field. Perhaps heavy footsteps or a looming shadow could be used to signal a change of mood

For the record I am happy SK are still active and doing as much as they possibly can, with what's gone on in the past 2 years and then some it's hard to start as such a small fraction within the music industry- which is on a galactic level.
I am all for experimentation and believe this is what SK are testing the waters with and I'm happy that they've done this. The graphics are lovely, I enjoy the ''acid trip'' it kinda gives you and there's not many out there that may appreciate it as much as SK does.
However, the plot _does_ come off as cheesy and unoriginal which doesn't share the same vibe as the stories their music videos told- IF they're following up on them with this. The stereotypical LGBT tropes of sex appeal and dry humour just..it's been done before and I know this is just the start and has the potential to be better should it continue.
I don't think I'll be sticking around for it honestly but my support still stands regardless.

i feel like this show has potential to be pretty funny and engaging. just right now being pretty underdeveloped because it's just a pilot. with the main characters outside of cherry and jenny not standing out much as individual chatacters. but i'm sure if this had more episodes we would see these characters more and their personalities. the pilot is a bit too fast-paced in its plot and it didn't fully sell me on the concept and setting. though i like the concept of pornica, i liked cherry's style transformations, and funnily enough jeff was a pretty fastly established character you could grasp onto. i'm a fan of studio killers music and the visual style of the show is appealing to me. i'd be willing to give more episodes a shot. i hope this project works out well for them, and hope they find a good direction to take this show. 💗💗
i love the fact that this show is on the internet, both literally and their universe.
this whole thing feels very rushed and confusing, but the potential is there. i feel like the voice acting was unintelligible at times, as well. I love you guys, but this was disappointing.
i get this is rough because it was a pilot made for a network to buy the show, but i just feel like this was not worth the time it took.
again, i love you all, but your core fan base fell in love with your message and music, and this feels like it missed the mark on both.
I don’t hate it, but if the entire premise is centered around current Internet culture… this series is going to get really dated _really_ quick

south parks been doing it since the 90’s and is still around, that being said, some ENTIRE older seasons of the show are pretty bad to watch nowadays.
The concept of reddit and 'liking' things in general is probably not going to get dated any time soon.
