What to expect when flying with AirTransat to Europe | Full Flight Review

- In this video we document what you can expect from an economy class AirTransat flight to Europe from Canada. Since we don't usually take AirTransat when flying overseas and assuming that this may be the case for many others, we figured it would be a good idea to show you what the journey will be like. AirTransat is a Canadian airline based in Montreal, Quebec, operating scheduled and charter flight to several destinations around the world.
Flight Details:
Air Transat - TS 336
Departing from Toronto International airport at 7:20 PM, arriving in Lisbon at 7:20 AM.
We are flying from Montreal to Barcelona on June 16. We have flown throughout the Caribbean, France and Italy with Transat and have never had an issue. While returning from France our pilot was Robert Piche. It's safe to say that Transat is my favorite carrier and I have flown with just about every major North American carrier.

According to Transat's website from May 2018 on Transatlantic flights a choice of two hot meals are offered as well as the " Europe Bistro Menu ". I'm travelling Vancouver to the U.K. next month and I'm pleased to see a choice of meal other than the " Bistro ". I travelled Transat to Glasgow two years ago and the " Bistro " as a meal was sadly lacking. Of course there is an option, they ( Transat ) offer a Chef's Menu for $ 25.00 ( Can. ) that looks quite good and I may just go for that. I think Air Transat are the best, just over eight and a half hours from Vancouver to Glasgow non stop, excellent, no need to go anywhere near Heathrow.

I hope the seats are more comfortable than Air Canada! At least they give you some food for free, which these days is a bonus, even if it isn’t that great. Thank you! ☺️

danny1966 you might be taking an a310 instead of the a330 he is on. The a310 has no entertainment system so you need to get some app first. Make sure what type of aircraft you are going to be going on.

I went to Europe this year with Air Canada and and the choice was pasta or chiken. The aircraft flown was the Airbus a 330-300 and there was a 2x4x2 layout. On the flight AC 892.
Enjoyed watching your video.....I flew British Airways business class last July to Toronto, I'm thinking of trying Air Transat business class next year :)

I am flying with Air Transat for the first time (Montreal-Malaga) next June...thanks a lot, now I know what to expect. The meal service doesn't look appealing but most of inflight meals are these days, particularly when you fly economy class, regardless of the airline. I never expect too much food-wise, that's why I eat before getting onboard and during the fight I get something to drink, or eat whatever pre-packaged snacks they have...and coffee at the end to perk up a bit. The other option is to bring your own food. It's very hard to please everybody. Those who eat gourmet food only can fly Business or order the fancy menu in advance.

That's the main reason we made it, because I've only flown with Air Transat a few times and I figured a lot of people would be flying for the first time with them. I totally agree with you, the meal service isn't good. We brought something with us on the way back home. Thank you and have a great trip!
As far as I know you can order the " Chef's meal " in advance ( $ 25.00 ) even if you are flying economy. Anytime I fly Air Transat I always pay for the " Option Plus ".
Okay folks here's a follow up, I just returned yesterday from a two week visit to Scotland. I flew return Vancouver / Glasgow, Air Transat, well I really have to give you two big thumbs up. Right on time, good seat pitch in economy ( I always choose " Option Plus " ) I chose a chef's meal, $ 25.00 and well worth it ,, delicious. Entertainment was good, nice selection, service was excellent, good job the cabin crew. There was a slight delay on the departure from Glasgow but the flight crew made that up. Service on the return flight again was excellent and the meal service was very nice with a glass of complimentary wine. I'm totally pleased travelling with Air Transat, good value for your money and good service ,,,, see you next time ,,,,
Nice video. Could you tell me if the USB port where you plugged in had power to charge a phone / small electronics? Flying to Amsterdam in a few months on the same airline.

How strict was the carry on luggage check? Says AirTransat only takes 20 inch but all my carry on's are the usual 21 inch so just curious if I should go buy new luggage or just attempt with the 21 inch carry on?
I don't want to make any promises but I think you should be fine. We had 2 backpacks so we could squeeze them in.

You guys are lucky. You flew on the A330. My flight sadly had the A310 which has no inflight entertainment systems. I just uploaded my experience. Go check it out. Overall great stuff.

They have really gone down the pan. Last time I flew with them it was a hot meal each way plus a more substantial pre landing snack. They also had a small glass of wine in economy with the meal. What they have dumbed down to is a poor substitute that makes BA long haul before the last pre pandemic revamp look good.

It would be between London and Toronto.
mousyaud There should be. We had meal service between Toronto and Paris, as well as Toronto and Lisbon. But to be honest the food is not good.

Thank you for watching. Yes, it was economy class. Where are you flying in from? I fly with WestJet twice a month for my work, but I've only take AirTransat on a few occasions. I prefer WestJet because of their great customer service.

I would say both are fine. London-Toronto flight is fairly short (by Canadian standards). I fly with WestJet regularly so I know their customer service is better. For a short flight like that, I would personally choose based on the price.

They had USB ports to change your phone, I don't recall power outlets though.
@@BahadorAlast Yes they have power outlets as well. At least in Club class.
In economy, their A330s have a small USB for phone charging but no full outlet.
Do you get hungry on these long flights? It does not look like you get a lot of food.
You'll definitely need something else other than what they give you. We ate at the airport prior to it, and slept for half the flight.
Hope my upcoming Paris flight is similar...

Too bad, I enjoyed my flights from Vancouver to Glasgow which I've taken a number of times. That service is no longer available with Air Transat at least the non stop service is no longer available. I flew with Transat last September, Vancouver / Glasgow, flight time 8 hours 35 minutes, cost $ 1037.90 ( including " option plus " ). If I book now on the dates I wish to travel it's 14.50 hours to Glasgow and 18.20 hours on the return flight.
They have also priced themselves out the door, return flight $ 1498.88 ,, not a chance I'll pay that, British Airways $ 1203.65, flight time ( including stopover ) 11 hours. Air Canada $ 1110.93, 12 hours 20 minutes including stopovers. So good bye Air Transat, it was good while it lasted.

Air Transat lost my luggage on my way to Europe last month. When I arrived, I was told that I would get it the next day, so I was stranded in Europe without my belongs - not even a toothbrush, deodorant or a pair of pajamas - but didn't buy anything. They said my luggage would arrive the next day, and buying stuff would mean that I would have to take it back home too.
But my luggage never arrived. I kept calling the numbers they provided, and no one ever answered. I e-mailed the addresses provided, and STILL haven't received a response. When I was finally able to get a hold of a laptop, I completed a claim form (the form wouldn't submit from a smart phone). The airline ruined my trip. My luggage eventually arrived after 11 days. Days after I had returned home from my trip. When it did arrive, the telescoping handle on my brand new luggage no longer worked - so I have to buy a new suitcase too. I was never refunded the money they charged me to check my baggage. I was never compensated in any way, not even for the stuff I had to buy. I have never received an apology. I've never even been contacted by the airline. WORST. AIRLINE. EVER.
But yes, the purple ambient lighting was pretty.
I have flown many times with airtransat and have found them to be great ,way better than Air Canada ,they treat you like dirt

We flew TransAt yyz-pop-yyz A330. Great service onboard the A330!!!! Will fly them again but bump up to Club Class. Economy is comfortable but more than 4 hours is too long.

I am just telling my experience of my trip from Toronto to Rome on air transat. It was not nice sitting in a 3-3-3 configuration on an Airbus A330 it is very tight. We didn't even get menus and had to eat the same thing. DONT FLY AIR TRANSAT

I don’t know why the food sucks on Canadian based airlines. Even the food on Air Canada sucks and for a dessert they give you a cookie in economy class....How the hell can a cookie be a dessert 😐

Yeah, their food isn't that good, but as part of this review, we felt that we had to show everything that matters for anyone who intends on flying with them.

@@BahadorAlast I used to fly the YYZ to LIS or YYZ/OPO route yearly starting in the 90's; last in 2015. It wasnt always like that, you would get a hot meal each way. Air Transat has always been a low-cost carrier - they're just cutting corners now. :(
Look at the difference in food: Canada to Europe- bread, bread more bread.... Europe to Canada- real food!! Hahahaha... talking about food culture!

Id like to see all Air Transat Evening flights to europe quiet with no kids on board under 10 years old , as I had a bad experience the last time I flew from canada to italy , and had a kid behind me all the way to italy all night , so please family groups leave your young kids at home as they cant behave them selves on board . Never expect too much from the meal service in an economy flight...they are called ECONOMY for a reason
Really must agree with you, I am a big fan of Air Transat flown with them a number of times, fabulous non stop into Glasgow from Vancouver. The so called " bistro in the sky " was for me absolutely terrible, a soggy dark corned beef sandwich, that was my " evening meal " on my last flight.
I am flying with them again this September ( Vancouver / Glasgow round trip ) I understand you can pay for a meal ( $ 25.00 ) which I would be more than happy to do after the last experience.
