    I think its all cool and a great idea but think about this: how many times have you been trying to pick something up and it rubberbands back to the ground or drop something and it reappears in your hand 7 times in a row? now think about doing that hundreds of times. this cargo update is going to destroy servers even more. one cargo ship load spawned in and everyone lags out across the system

    • @FreebirthBoccara
      @FreebirthBoccara Місяць тому

      Except this doesnt happen when moving cargo boxes.. we have ready been doing this exact same gameplay ojtside of our ha gars for more then a year and we dont have any of those issues. It doesnt happen for people doinf salvage and moving rmc boxes, it doesnt happen for people doing erts and moving high value cargo from the dead enemies, and it doesnt happen for lirates when they have been attacking players and stealing their shit.

    the new cargo loading at the mining outpost is better now. the C2 was never meant for the small outposts. small ships for the mining outposts, the C2 is supposed to always go to the Distribution centers for bulk hauling.

    • @Hanger12-yr2fu
      @Hanger12-yr2fu  Місяць тому

      @@ash_whole5442 I believe the chain will go something like, small haulers move cargo to a stockpile in a Distribution Centre. Distro Centre's will then use larger haulers to send to larger stockpiles in Orbitals/Gate Stations then Cap (hull C+) haulers will move those large collections of goods and deliveries across multiple systems and then it will be distributed the same way in reverse.

    Traditional hauling (w/ the alerts) is dead. This is their new system as detailed in the missions SCL, and this is a good thing because it gives every size and tier of cargo ship a purpose in the game for the small, supply, and bulk grades across different distances

      I think there will be room for both in the future but I agree, having a structured progression within the world of haulage is a good thing.

    The changes are following the "as intended" plans from a long way back, as others mention.
    Big ships for bigger jobs, from safety in hangars, or with crews for protection. As intended.
    Smaller ships for smaller, faster loads that are worth less to pirates. As intended.
    Ship prices going higher, towards actual rewards, instead of an evening's casual risk free work.
    And yes, smaller profits in blue collar solo gaming of all kinds, also as intended. For 2 reasons. One, no one ever made it rich trucking without a *shitton* of long hard work. And two, MMO's are all grinds. That is by design. You either enjoy the gameplay and that is why you play, or you just want the end result right away as fast as possible ...and want a different game type.
    So yes, as intended. Less instant profit, more risk, value to team play that doesn't exist for solo play in the same way, grinding for rewards in gameplay we enjoy, rewards that match risk and effort, and no more magic gamey crap like inventories accessible from wherever.
    All of it, *as intended.*
    (edited for grammar)

    The only way solo cargo will be safe is if you use smaller ships to take cargo to the spaceport where larger ships can be loaded up for transport to TDD in cities.

  • @Jomanda76
    @Jomanda76 Місяць тому

    I think that once the novelty of the loading and discharging ships has worn off, most players will be forced to have multiple copies of the same ship to keep gameplay (and progression) moving forward...

I would guess that as it seems there are chapters in S42 where you have a Wingman, that some work has gone into this. I wonder how detailed the behaviours would be. Would you be able to have them land with you and stand guard on foot or have them circle the sky's looking for enemy ships? Or a mix of both. Will cargo hauling be profitable enough to afford escorts. Capped at 20-30% margins the answer is no. I will try hauling when the patch comes out but if it's tedious then I will do something more entertaining. If pirates felt like they were waiting forever before this may redefine the concept.

    but then again, C2 is desigened as a 1-2 crew ship, it only has two sits in cockpit and 2 beds. it sells for 400 dollars and marketed as a 1-2 men ship. if one person can't operates it, CIG should open a refund channel, not refund to store credit but in real money. in real life freighter ship and air freight crew don't move the cargo, porter does, porters hired by the wharf and airport warehouses, not by the shipment company.

      5 seconds per SCU is pretty quick for even an average player loading, them making the time depend on what size the containers are, would be better, but this is the first iteration of it.

    • @Spaze2503
      @Spaze2503 Місяць тому

      I think you are the idiot here. If we look at star citizen in the real world side by side we can see similarities between these two. The trucks that drive from one country to others or just from city to city are the small cargo ships (Nomad, Avenger Titan) in star citizen and these are supposed to transport cargo from the small outposts to LEO Stations or landing zones/distribution centers. Then we also have the big cargo ships that transport goods from continent to continent over the water. These are the bigger cargo ships like the Hull-A, Freelancer, Corsair, Cutlass Black. Such ships are supposed to transport goods from LEO Stations/Landing zones/distribution centers to LEO Stations or Lagrange Points (not sure if they are supposed to transport to other LEO Stations or not) and then we have the C2, Ironclad, Caterpillar, Hull-C and up. These are supposed to transport goods from LEO Station to Jump Point stations and other LEO Stations. They are also supposed to go through the Jump Points to trade on the interstellar side. But that is just from the SCL for the cargo missions so I don't know if that really is also meant for non mission hauling but it makes the most sense for me.
      TL;DR: Trucks are from city/country to city/country, small haulers (Nomad, Avenger Titan) from Small outposts to LEO Stations, Landing Zones, Distro Centers
      Big cargo ships are from Continent to Continent, Medium Haulers (Hull-A, Freelancer, Corsair) from LEO Stations/Landing zones/distribution centers to LEO Stations or Lagrange Points.
      Big Haulers (C2, Caterpillar, Hull-C and up). From LEO Stations to Jump Point stations and other LEO Stations.

      Sure the truck driver is alone for the drive. But what happens when they get to their destination.. they talk to s&r and get loaded...the more people loading them the faster it goes. Three people on hilos load a truck in a minute or two.. a single one takes 5-10. A single handcart take 30 minutes.. a half dozen working together by hand takes 10. Its not a solo thing irl
