I own ALOT of ships, but every time i melt this thing it hurts my soul. Im very about the combat game loop but this thing is just to beautiful. WE NEED MORE ARGO!!
7:41 those are all four suit lockers. the RAFT provides suit lockers for either an environmental suit as well as a combat suit or two environmental suits for different conditions for each crewmember. the escape pods are the bunk beds, similar to most Aegis ships.
Like the concept as a outpost hopper with quick cargo drop offs, but current mechanics means you can just deliver goods for others to yank away . Love these reviews.
I quite enjoy the Raft, fuel for days and all the room you need to make a snack on that long haul. Great video. If I can dream id be interested in seeing variants, imagine a vehicle hauler that just slings the vehicle under the beams, or an XL with one more retention point for the 32scu
I really like the heavy industrial aesthetic of Argo. It'd be cool to see a smallish multi role starter from Argo that competes in the nomad/hull a/syulen category.
As other people have stated, the RAFT is kinda useless currently, especially if you want to carry more than one type of cargo, However, I LOVE this ship, its looks and interior really appeal to me and I look to fly it whenever I can, I see the lack of manouverabilty and speed as a "more relaxed" gameplay loop :)
This is proabably one of the best made ships in the game. It has many features compaired to other ships. Feels like you are actually flying a space truck. Engines are directional and can be used to fly differently in different situations. It has an airlock port (currently nothing to dock to) It has a system to load and unload cargo(not yet operational) You can lock the doors to different parts of the ship from the bridge(has saved my life a couple times) It has good interior storage, along with weapon racks and something else I'm assuming is to hold small boxes or something maybe? Easy access to compoents. The elevator takes you to different levels of the ship. It really just overall feels really well designs and looks great for what it is. Yeah it's damn slow but you're a space truck of course it's slow. I feel like it wouldn't feel right if it was faster, it is fast enough to get where you are going.
I like the RAFT. She's giving me a stressless feeling. Most ships have a military structure, some kind of an expectation, that you need to be a hero, a big player in the universe. Planning, shooting, destruction, retreat, refill, get on your feeds soldier.... not so the RAFT. In the RAFT, you can just be a Joe Everyone, a regular nobody for the 'verse, just doing his daily business. Surely not an exciting gameplay, but perfect if you're not on the mood for the big action right know, but just want to perform a relaxing task.
The Raft only recently caught my eye when one of its limitations was removed and 3.24 started to become a reality. This ship is easy to load up with containers and can carry all sizes thanks to the fact that now all smaller sizes can be docked to the cargo arms and not just 32 scu containers. Its huge quantum tanks mean you can fly multiple trips around Stanton without having to refuel. And its cargo capacity is 1.5 times the amount a C1 or Hull A can carry safely. So for anything up to 96 scu the Raft is an excellent choice; it´s a freighter, plain and simple. The sort of target noone can claim bragging rights about should they shoot one down and the type of ship one should be extremely embarrassed by if one gets shot down by it.
Great video Evenlease. I was looking to get one of these at IAE. I really enjoyed you sharing your concerns and leaving no stone unturned. I'm still up in the air about. Definitely wouldn't be a great idea for the Pyro system like you said.
This was one of my favorite industrial ships to own in the past on my CCU upgrade path to the Caterpillar I now run. Might buy one again in game for nostalgia, but it would certainly be cool to see it get a Mark II revision -- or even better, an 'XL' version that can hold its own against the Caterpillar or C2 Hercules.
For its size, design, complete lack of speed and protection it should carry double its measley 96 SCU for such a looking ship. Double its capacity at least amd increase the price if you must.
If this Raft could take along the CSV, and ATLS I would buy it instantly. However, since it's just a defenseless hauler, spending a bit more for a Taurus or a C1 feels like a better move.
Unfortunately it didn't have a tractor beam at concept. It's supposed to be a gantry crane system. Which is dumb because that can't work in space. It definitely should swap that to a tractor beam.
@@FoxVelox222 FROM THE SALES PAGE WHEN IT SOLD: Control Cab The crew can monitor cargo transfer and operate the rear-mounted tractor beam from this station.
The raft use case is as a surface to orbit bulk cargo lifter. It's not really meant to be in situations where it would need to defend itself. It should be relying on local law enforcement, station guns, and a fast calibrating quantum drive to survive situations that it would otherwise be destroyed in. The turret is a standoff weapon at best.
I just upgraded my pledge to this and have been looking up guides and tips/tricks to get the most out of it and your guide was the most concise. While I agree with your negatives, I feel the score is still rather low. I’d give it a 7.5/10 cuz it does its job very well, it just has some pain points that hopefully get resolved in 4.0 or in the next patch after Pyro. This ship is not meant for combat AT ALL it’s JUST a space truck and a good one at that. If there were any gripes I’d give it though it’s the following 1. No guns? STACK SHIELDS - seriously, this looks and flies like a brick so it should be able to take a hit like one too 😅 2. Tractor beam (planned, i know, but with the “Cargo Empires” update, it’s desperately needed now) 3. Compatibility - give us a dedicated compartment for a loader vehicle (ATLS or equivalent) while the docking port glitch solves this, it’s not intended and obviously breaks the immersion. If they can fit a small mount at the base of the ship facing the cargo racks, it would allow the ATLS to sit comfortably facing the cargo racks for easy loading and unloading.
The QT fuel amount is definitely a typo and probably a rounding that gave it .5 but the code just gave it as an integer. It will have 2759 like other ships of this size, but for now it's 10x bigger.
this thing needs to have way more cargo, ships like the freelancer max have more cargo at the same size, but also have far more firepower, shields, speed, and maneuverability, plus having internal storage which is more secure and allows it to carry vehicles (which the raft cannot). CIG has always said that the tradeoffs between external and internal cargo storage is that internal is more secure but you cant carry as much while external is more exposed and less safe for your cargo, but you can carry more of it as a result. this thing has such an abysmally small amount of cargo yet also sucks in every other aspect of the game. Honestly, it should have more than double the SCU it has right now especially considering how bad it is at everything other than cargo transport. Also despite it supposedly being concepted as a short-range quick pickup and drop off ship, it is absolutely terrible in atmo (so you're not really going to save any time), and everything else about this ship says that it is more of a long range cargo transport (big livable interior, massive QT fuel tanks). it is just not economical to do long range cargo hauling with 96 scu of cargo. When we get more star systems in game, this thing due to its sheer helplessness will be exclusively relegated to the safest systems where the margins will be very small (since there is less risk), would it really be so bad then that it could carry twice as much cargo as it can now? at least that way it could have a hope of being somewhat worth your time to use but even then people would probably still prefer the hull-b which is similar sized (longer than the raft but much thinner and shorter) while that thing will carry at least 384 scu of cargo. I bought this ship outright when it came out because of that beautiful interior, but i had to melt it because of how absolutely terrible it ended up being in reality, it really is a shame.
I feel like I needed to add it has a HUGE quantum tank compared to others like the C1 spirit, wish it could either defend or run away easier though cuz that QT range feels kinda useless if you're a sitting duck lmao
the skins released for this look really slick! Im sure ill think it out for a handufl of cargo runs in 3.24 before swapping to my c2. I think the argo shines when it comes to local cargo jobs around a certain planet and its moons or to move larger cargo containers from the ground up to space where a larger ship is waiting to be loaded.
I wish I had a use for the RAFT, but I rarely do trading or cargo jobs. It's still the best looking light freighter in the game imo. Instead I use my MSR. Much more awkward, but at least it flies well.
Something I didn't hear mentioned, is that this ship seems to ONLY have place for 3x32 SCU containers. If these can only carry 32 SCU containers, it severely limits what you can carry, considering that the cargo patch is meant to have outposts spawn with stock in specific container sizes. If they don't have stock in 32scu container sizes, can you just not carry any of them? Even in the current version where it autofills your cargo with boxes that will fit, how does it work when buying? Can you only buy in 32 increments?
In the next patch, you get to choose what size container your cargo is delivered to you in. Should be very good ship for the new cargo missions, as it will eventually load and unload quickly. That's really what is designed to do.
I would rank this ship a little better than a 6. If you factor in the fact that loading cargo can be done in three easy steps it's actually a winner. Consider other, better defended ships like the constellation or starlancer max. Those ships have teeth but they also require a LOT of loading since they stack cargo 3 SCU high. This means you will likely have to spend a lot of time playing cargo tetris to get the best profit. Meanwhile, Raft is already halfway to Lorville. In civilized space this is actually pretty top tier...
Argo RAFT is a pretty cool cargo. It has a lot of default (the first one is that it needs more love from CIG ^^), and clearly need to be defended by an escort or/and a gunner. But so much pleasure on this ship !! I could'nt find a cargo ship that hype me that much ^^ !
They need the ability to lock cargo. Same as you lock/unlock your ship hardware. For all exterior held cargo. Makes it equal to piracy. If you forget to lock your cargo… fair game lol
the Argo skiff/sloop keep it slow give it two forward size 3 top and bottom size 5 remotes and a rear size 3 The tractor beam needs to be on an arm pledge store price 350
I feel the "RAFT" should be used primarily for moving cargo to and from Hull ships to station cargo centers? I've suggested ("Game Ideas") that the ARGO RAFT looks capable of moving, not just three, but six 32 scu containers, but only in space (too heavy to land). ;-) Imagine several RAFTs moving containers from their grapplers (tractor beams), onto a Hull ship's cargo grid, while other RAFTs are removing containers, placing them onto their grapplers and heading to a station's cargo center or another cargo ship? It would be cool if there was a travel pod (like in S.T.T.M.P.), that would attach to that docking port?
A little ladder to access the air lock from the ground would be great. It is a pity they did not put a tractor beam remote turret on the engineering station. This ship is contradictory as you need a second crew to have any defenses but the cargo itself is automatized exactly to not need one ...
I love the looks of this ship to the bone. One of the few ships where i have the feeling: i could live here permanently. Too bad the RAFT has no secondary functions or roles.
Love the utilitarian look and feel of this ship. I'd buy one but would never use it outside of law enforced space. It's something nice to stick to commercial traffic lanes and move product. Do you have the ability to distress call in Star Citizen? I can't recall if you can. Haven't played in a while since I'm rebuilding a Windows PC.
It needs an external cargo pad. Or cargo weight needs to be a factor. The Nomad can presently lift a meager 462.3 tons ( 926400 lb) of gold into space. Really? Why have the cutlass, KORE, HULL A or raft? Just use Nomads for point to point deliveries.
Constellation Taurus. 168 SCU of Cargo. Lots of Guns, Lots of Missiles, faster, and multi function. Sure.. it's like 11mill, but take the 2 mill buy a vulture, then spend a week to get the taurus.
I am currently running an Andromeda... and been looking to "upgrade" through ship upgrades, this ship popped up... but yeah... think im just gonna stick to my Andromeda by looking at this 🤭
Love this ship so much. Tho my MAX is my pledged boat when it comes to cargo, the Argo RAFT is definitely a difficult ship not to choose. Specially with load/unload of cargo being more and more difficult. For outpost trading this might just be the best choice. Tanky, VTOL is awesome in it. And super fast on dropping/reloading cargo.
@@thierrybo6304 true and if in the future the tractor beam becomes useable on the back of it, you might not even need to leave the ship, just need remote operation for the cargo elevator somehow... Who knows what they can cook up for that.
C1 Spirit can actually carry more Cargo then this off the grid in it, I think I have personally managed to carry an extra 64 - 70 Scu of Cargo ontop of the 64 in my C1, though Obviously it isn't easy to stack the boxes so ease of access is still a fair upgrade, butt I figured its worth mentioning the C1 is deceptively big.
Beautiful ship with not a lot of practical reasons to use it. It gets outshined by nearly everything. Even the MSR. Which is surprising since it also is severely nerfed. The ARGO Raft is basically to move cargo short distances in very safe space. No combat, no ground vehicles, no running away. Makes you wonder why they even bothered putting living quarters on it
I love style of Argo ships, and Raft is the best looking outside and inside. Too bad it's useless. Unfortunately, such a slow and defenseless ship is not even suitable for carrying goods, in my opinion. After all, it is a light hauler, not a heavy tanker. In my opinion, nothing wrong would happen if he got these 2x size 3 cannons for pilot and speed and maybe a little bit worse than C1. After all, the Raft is a much more expensive ship.
Really cool interior and assets, but I HATE the ARGO HUD with the almost red orange interface, so hard to see the incredibly important red markers. Also, I must test this against the Zeus CL. The Zeus carries more cargo (128 SCU) and I feel it's gonna be a much better daily driver. Other than that, I feel with 96 SCU it would stll compete with the C1 64 SCU, great handlng and decent firepower, so... I'd just use this if the load/reload speed to the exterior makes a LOT of diference.
I don't understand this ship at all. The Constellation series has 96 scu storage, is a GUNBOAT, is much faster, and has a snub. Why would I ever use this??
Cost, speed and ease of loading, currently far superior interior, it has the perfect industrial look, and so many more irrational and subjective reasons.
I mean at the end of the day, it's honestly based on preference. Some people like the Connie's, and personally I like the Taurus out of all the Connie variants, but when it comes to the sheer usability of this thing, it's so much easier. Just slap the boxes on and go. And yes, 28,000 quantum fuel, versus the what, 4,500 in the Connie? It's just no comparison.
If Pirates get you, all your defense wont help you to fight them off so i dont see any point why this ship would need weapons. Maybe bigger shields. But if you want protection you need a escort
Like most ships and haulers, the shields feel dreadfully weak and undersized. Even on my Corsair I get shredded by NPC and players, with little fighting back possible when you are outmaneuvered. Even the terrapin has such a stupidly weak shield and it's supposed to be a super tanky nut to crack. So pain issue : shields for every ships. The raft itself could use much more cargo space. The lack of armament and poor manoeuvrability could be the tradeoff for huge cargo on a ship this size !
Good looking ship, but better buy a connie andromeda. Twice the price, but can do so much more with it. I will demand a free xenomorf if I ever buy it again 😅
This is a straight up industrial hauler. I really enjoy your reviews, but you do put an emphasis - I'd say over-emphasis - on ships being able to fight. Not all ships are multi-taskers, and I for one am glad of it. This ship has enough shields and HP to get away from a threat as long as it isn't swarmed or interdicted by a Quantum Dampener. As we all know is the norm with Star Citizen, this ship will be altered by CIG in the future. The real negative is that CIG hasn't given it its tractor beam(s) yet.
Love this thing design wise. Just feel like both it and the Hull A need their cargo capacity doubled. They're both slow and cant defend themselves. At least let them outclass non cargo ships in terms of cargo
It really may not be the best ship of its kind. BUT - if you see it for what it is, it's good. and I personally love the Argo style. The cockpit is exactly to my taste, the living area looks like a small apartment, the furnishings seem well thought out and detailed and for a ship of this size it is also damn spacious. the ship is true love ❤
If you ask yourself the question: what can I do with this ship? There is not a lot of. This is one of the most useless ships in the game but with a lot of potential.
the idea of any of the regular cargo ships around this cargo size being able to defend themselves is laughable. it really shouldn't play into the rating of these ships until the day comes where there is an actual realistic difference in outcome, not some theoretical number based fantasy scenario. unless we're talking cutlass, and even there it's now nerfed to die more easily.
CIG could easily fix this ship by getting rid of the nonfunctional crane garbage and give it an inverted cargo grid. Until then, it’s one of the worst cargo ships in the game.
I own ALOT of ships, but every time i melt this thing it hurts my soul. Im very about the combat game loop but this thing is just to beautiful. WE NEED MORE ARGO!!

I love the looks of this ship to the bone. One of the few ships where i have the feeling: i could live here permanently. Too bad the RAFT has no secondary functions or roles.
Something about this shit I just really really like
I love the interior of the raft. I just wish they put it in a better cargo ship.
I've yet to fly an Argo I didn't like, but I'm also yet to keep an argo ship due purely on them not fitting my needs.
Its still Awesome. Super industrial look is hard to beat.
I love this pile of lego. Just needs some updates. Hope they see it as the same.
**** the numbers fly what you enjoy. It's the only ship I'm waiting for to go on sale pledge store.
Constellation Taurus.
168 SCU of Cargo. Lots of Guns, Lots of Missiles, faster, and multi function.
Sure.. it's like 11mill, but take the 2 mill buy a vulture, then spend a week to get the taurus.
It's a nice looking ship and probably the most "realistic" when it comes to being practical.
Origin: expensive luxury
Crusader: Futuristic military
Misc: Elegant haul
Argo: Ordinated industry
Drake: Chaotic all-purpose
Favorite!
I am currently running an Andromeda... and been looking to "upgrade" through ship upgrades, this ship popped up... but yeah... think im just gonna stick to my Andromeda by looking at this 🤭
Argo needs a closed cargo variant of the raft with top and bottom guns I would buy
At least for outpost trading, nobody will enter your ship when you are loading cargo.
@@thierrybo6304 true and if in the future the tractor beam becomes useable on the back of it, you might not even need to leave the ship, just need remote operation for the cargo elevator somehow... Who knows what they can cook up for that.
Time to redo the review...they have increased speed, turn rates and HP in 3.24.
Absolutely! I’m always willing to hit up another ship after an update. I’ll make sure to have it out once 3.24 hits live.
This is more of an utility ship to load Hull A B C D E... ships, if it was such a mission, and move vehicles and boxes like a crane.
6203 hours space trucking in elite dangerous , and listening to this video .
I love this ship but i am an argo fanboi :)
Did they fix the issues with cargo grid?
Need that sweet sweet argo medium salvage ship to come out
Ohh that would be so nice!
Most beautiful industrial cargo ship.
The only thing I hate about your reviews is that I want to get all these ships again 😂.
Seems like the designers forgot the "Reinforced" part
Beautiful ship with not a lot of practical reasons to use it. It gets outshined by nearly everything. Even the MSR. Which is surprising since it also is severely nerfed.
The ARGO Raft is basically to move cargo short distances in very safe space. No combat, no ground vehicles, no running away. Makes you wonder why they even bothered putting living quarters on it
How do you do Cargo missions that are like x11 1scu boxes???
Price I guess and ease of loading without opening the ship to the elements
Cost, speed and ease of loading, currently far superior interior, it has the perfect industrial look, and so many more irrational and subjective reasons.
I really feel that this ship should have twice the amount of cargo cap
I mean at the end of the day, it's honestly based on preference. Some people like the Connie's, and personally I like the Taurus out of all the Connie variants, but when it comes to the sheer usability of this thing, it's so much easier. Just slap the boxes on and go. And yes, 28,000 quantum fuel, versus the what, 4,500 in the Connie? It's just no comparison.
It's supposed to be the dockyard worker - a small mobile crane to help drag boxes (32 scu x 3 ) to the hull series ships to help them load.
I can't wait till we can actually use the lowering arms on the Raft, instead of using the hand held to move them.
Ship designed to be in a convoy with 20 similar ships with a large armed escort.
Thanks for the feedback! I’ll try to adjust my approach on certain ships.
we're inching towards 5k subs!! 🎉🎉
can you load 1scu containers on it?
Love this thing design wise. Just feel like both it and the Hull A need their cargo capacity doubled. They're both slow and cant defend themselves. At least let them outclass non cargo ships in terms of cargo
The interior of Argo ships are just to good, I can't get rid of mt Raft no matter how good/bad it is.
For the price Freelancer max.
It really may not be the best ship of its kind.
BUT - if you see it for what it is, it's good.
and I personally love the Argo style.
The cockpit is exactly to my taste, the living area looks like a small apartment,
the furnishings seem well thought out and detailed and for a ship of this size it is also damn spacious.
the ship is true love ❤
The truck
If you ask yourself the question: what can I do with this ship? There is not a lot of.
This is one of the most useless ships in the game but with a lot of potential.
the idea of any of the regular cargo ships around this cargo size being able to defend themselves is laughable. it really shouldn't play into the rating of these ships until the day comes where there is an actual realistic difference in outcome, not some theoretical number based fantasy scenario.
unless we're talking cutlass, and even there it's now nerfed to die more easily.
o7 😎👍
CIG could easily fix this ship by getting rid of the nonfunctional crane garbage and give it an inverted cargo grid. Until then, it’s one of the worst cargo ships in the game.
The ship is ruined by bugs. The loading of the cargo is trash. The doors are trash. The light controls are trash. Fix those bugs and it will be good.
Not sure why anyone would buy this over a freelancer max
I personally wouldn’t. Some just prefer the interior and industrial look to the exterior.
I can't understand the purpose of this ship, honestly...
Bruh its a hauler
OP is such a normie for his comments about this ship... What a knob...
