I was born in the late fall of 1978. The Very Pretty and Extremely Talented Bethy Buckley is the best and one and only Grizabella Ever! She received the Tony Award for her portrayal of Grizabella! I was fortunate enough to see Betty Buckley in the national Tour of Hello, Dolly at the Kentucky Center for the Arts in Louisville, Kentucky as Dolly Levi! Betty was fantastic and so was the entire cast!
What is the name of the actor/dancer who suddenly peeks out from the iron grill and quickly moves his head around just like a cat at the beginning of the song? He's got bright orange hair. Is is Harry Groener? I'm very curious. What a great number from a wonderful musical.
@@monkon8313 Thanks so much for your reply.Now I know this cat was Reed Jones. I love those very 'cat like' movements he makes as he peeks out from the grill. I'm sorry to hear about his demise at such a young age. I was extremely fortunate to get to see Cats in the late Fall of 1983 at the old Shubert Theater. The music and dance were superb. And Betty Buckleys voice seemed to shake the rafters when she hit those high notes with the 'Touch me' phrase during the Memory song. In person her voice sounded so resonant and forceful. It just 'sailed' through the theater and gave you chills. Thanks again for your help.

His name was Reed Jones and he was the original Skimbleshanks on Broadway. Unfortunately he passed away at the age of 35 in June 1989.
