I race in manual on 80's and 90's so. It's really a matter of getting used to it. The hardest part I find is controlling both your throttle and your brakes, but that's a whole other issue that us, keyboard users, have to deal with.

The engine overreving is the automatic gearbox, he can't do anything about it except mash the gear up button and hope for the best. It's one of the ways Codemasters has to balance the game for automatic and manual users. Or so I think.
Mashing the button won't work either. Game forces certain gears, you will just cause car to go idle and back to lower gear.
Funny, I do that but it doesn't go to idle, it just keeps changing back and forth until it decides I really want that gear and sticks to it. Maybe it's something about me using a keyboard, don't know.
Good video Matt. Only thing would be the game audio is very loud compared to your commentary can barely hear you, other than that good job
Maybe you're really patient then :) It never agreed with my choice of gears. And due to me also using a keyboard, I shall not use manual

Game sound is way too loud, can't hear a word of the commentary.
Stop overreving the engine .. Nobody takes that second corner in first gear ..
