- Performing a factory reset on the Nest × Yale Lock is a little complex. We'll walk you through the entire reset process. Then you'll need to connect it to the Nest app again to use your lock and set passcodes.
A reset will restore factory settings and remove any passcodes you had previously.

This video is soooo much more informative than the instructions that came with the lock. the lock instructions say to just hold the reset button for 3 seconds and install the batteries.
For how often this lock just forgets it's setting and needs to be reset this is way too much , there should have been a reset button under the battery cover

The app asks you to hold the outer button in front of the battery cover to add it back, but this is also the same and only button for enabling and disabling of Privacy Mode to hide the numbers on the outer keypad. However this same function can be done with the app, so if this feature was removed, it could be *the* reset button rather than the one that is in the poor location we all know of at this time.

It is very easy to install and it works very well, with a clear picture through the app and good in-home use (we added the chime, which is also easy to install and doesn't require another thought to use).
This was very helpful. Before watching this video, I think step 3 was confusing because I didn't realize I needed to hold down the reset button at the same time as installing the batteries. This video is great!

Glad to know- I bought a used front door for my house and this lock came with the door. I'm not really interested in getting Nest and was going to pitch the thing in favor of a conventional deadlock, but maybe I'll keep it.

Google and Nest products are just awful when you need to do something as simple as change a wifi password. You should't have to factory reset devices and lose all of your settings to make these simply changes! All of the other manufacturers make it easy, so what is going on over there at Google?
I called yale support and one of their representatives attempted to verbally guide me through these steps but the agent gave me incorrect steps. I should have just watched this video. Don't bother calling support. They are useless. Just return the item. Don't waste your time calling.

I did exactly as the video says because it lost connection with the wifi.Problem is it won't relock the door motor turns the lock backwards??????????????? Had to do the reset all over again FINALLY got it to work after 3 hours.

@@pattiannreeves seems to me nest Yale lock is having some issues, I have to use my hotspot from my phone to make it to connect and then switch to my home internet not good

WHAT IS THE ONE-HANDED WAY TO RESET AND TAKE THE COVER OFF AND HOW DO YOU ADJUST THE VOLUME? I HAVE GONE BY MANY SET UP VIDEOS WITH NO SUCCESS. I HAVE WASTED MY TIME AND MONEY BUYING AND GETTING IT INSTALLED. NOW I AM STUCK IN MY HOME BECAUSE OF THE FAILED SETUP. THERE SHOULD BE A BACKUP KEY OR ALTERNATIVE LOCK AND UNLOCK METHOD. WOW, I REGRET BUYING THIS AND TO INSTALL AS WELL NOW I HAVE TO GET IT UNSTALLED AND RETURN. A UA-cam CHANNEL RATED THIS NUMBER 2 OUT OF HIS TOP 5.

This video makes no sense, it confuses you on when you have to let go the button. And then doesn't even explain everything. Just go to their website where they have all the steps.

Clearly no one at Google, Nest or Yale will ever buy or use this horrible device. Every procedure is complicated:
One of the most stupid things is the reset button which is hidden in the back and tiny and hard to keep down.
The "calibration" during installation is ridiculous. Why can't the direction of the lock be changed using the keypad.
Over the years they've reduced the functionality of the lock: no more access from a Google smart watch, no more access from a desktop computer.
Why can't I decide if unlocking the door with my voice is secure enough for me?
I would never buy another product from Google, Nest or Yale again.
This way of reseting is so brain dead...
What a pain in the ass
This is absolutely pitiful design and frankly has me in the business of replacing my two hundred plus dollar lock. Plainly dumb to have to uninstall it to reset. While I normally love nest products I really feel this is one that was a half @$$ed effort that feels even more so by the fact I haven’t seen a significant update to this product since I bought it years ago. If I was already priced into the ecosystem it would be gone in a minute.
