- Placebo are one of those bands that you forget how many songs of theirs that you know. They also used some pretty unusual tunings which I've marked below in the track list. Here are 10 cool songs of theirs in no particular order. Which songs would you include?

Brian Molko is a really underrated player/songwriter. Amazing
Yeah, he really knows how to write a song. Probably doesn't get enough recognition.
Yeah, he is a poor guy who writes great songs and works at walmart, very underrated
@@dave_clarke I mean, most of placebo records got really lukewarm reviews and his guitar playing itself is never regard by publications or other players even. You can be famous and still be underrated but I see your point
Many of these riffs are by Stefan Olsdal too.
@@pontonmscand on top of that he sings with vibrato and all kind of good stuff, Brian is indeed underrated
Placebo’s debut album is a collection of awesome riffs. Bionic and Hang On To Your IQ have memorable stuff too.
The guitar on Placebo's first album is what encouraged me to start playing guitar and looking back both my guitar and bass styles take a lot of influence from Placebo
Love all the Sonic Youth vibes in their riffs
Kind of like a glam Sonic Youth? Kind of.
They where huge fans of sonic youth, the guitar playing was very inspired by Thurston Moore so where the tunings
@@gob5974Almost every Alt Rock band in the 90s was inpired by Sonic Youth
@@samnoobsinnadaoriginal1176 After the 90s too.
jesus i never noticed this! guess that explains why i like them sm
As a big Placebo fan I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you for writing the tunings as well.
Thanks for watching!
they were such a formative band for me, i still immediately recognise every single riff haha - awesome work, thank you !!
Thanks!
this video just influenced me to take a look at Placebo. I'm 99% sure I just found one of my new favorite bands. Keep this up
How’d it turn out for you?
Bruise Pristine is a so powerful riff👌
Saw them this weekend at download and they were great. Played mostly stuff of the new album but they played bionic and infra-red which are my favourite songs
we got nancy boy too! they never play it anymore, i was so happy to be there:)
Surprised (well, maybe not) that you went here, and I love it! Placebo was amazing live. Dude, you're on a sonic kick lately... I was blown away by your Sonic Youth riffs videos. I love how you isolate the riffs and sounds so damn perfectly whatever you play. I have played these songs, too, for a long time, but the clarity you bring is helping me become a better player because I've missed some important nuances -- saying this as an amateur guitarist of 30+ years. I am still learning every day and don't often come across people interested in these sounds very often. Thank you, Bloxsy.
Thanks mate. I want to do some more Sonic Youth as there's so much to explore by them! Yeah I've found myself paying more attention to those nuances by playing this way. It's helped me too.
@@bloxsy_ you're an inspiration to various of us guitar players that are still trying to conquer our Harley Bentons and Squiers too! You rock man
Thanks man.
DUUUUDEEE!
teenage angst bring me some great memories
They played 2 miles away from me the other night and I could hear it. I realised that most of their songs have 2-chord progressions.
love these sort of big pedal note riffs, very much my own style of playing too. alongside the tone and riff selection you've got awesome rhythm man great stuff
Solid playing!! Loving those riffs that basically motivated me to start learning the guitar.
Thank you. I've been a placebo fan for years now I have the time to try and learn some of their songs.
One of my all time fav bands, since I was a kid. Love this 🙏🏼🙏🏼
This band seems really cool and great playing, it's like something I never heard before but need it now ♥
One of the first decent bands I got into as a kid in the early 00s. Brilliant choice!
I was only reflecting recently on just how excellent Sleeping With Ghosts is so I’m glad to see you featuring some of the best riffs from that album.
Wow didn’t expect this one but most welcome. Great tones man. They are brill
Thanks man!
Special K and Battle for the Sun are good riffs too
Hell yes, been waiting for a Placebo vid
Bloxy my stooge ... Nailed it again.. always was a frewt band to see in the early days. Thanks
Top fare as ever, and the tone from that V65 is awesome.
Impressive!! Very good work!!
Perfect as usual!
Nice! Love placebo
THANK YOU! Love Placebo! 🫶
Some of the finest fuzz jazzmaster riffs ever written! I would add Slave to the Wage to the list
Sugoi! Happy pride Bloxsy!🎉
Thank you for including the tunings in the chapters or whatever they are called!
No problem :)
okay this is the best video i have ever seen… when i start to singing, the riff is changing lol. please keep your playing good, you’re so talented.
Thanks!
Awesome playing!
Thanks!
This is amazing!
That’s stunning !
brilliant, you perfectly got the tones
Thanks dude.
Awesome video man, you nailed the tone perfectly, thanks for making this 🥺🙏
Thanks man! It was fun making it.
If I may ask, which string gauge did you use for the F tuning?
I was using a set of 9s for all the songs. I didn't change the strings for any of the tunings.
@@bloxsy_ Even the high C string? I mean, in forums I've read that the high C should be gauge 11 or 12
It probably would sound better with that, but I could never be bothered swapping strings.
My favorite Placebo song is “Infra-Red”. I actually bought their “Meds” album on CD back in the day just for that song, and I was kind of “meh” on the rest of the album, unfortunately. Maybe I should revisit it and see if it’s grown on me at all in the last 17 years…
It's got Meds, Post Blue, Song To Say Goodbye. It's an exceptionally solid album. Give it a go.
Under appreciated, they're golden
great video. I love placebo
Great Placebo! 😘
Sorry but this is fkn amazing. I too love placebo. Brilliant band. Well done mate. You smashed this.
Thanks man!
Very underrated band imo. Nice going!
They got almost 4 millions listeners on Spotify at mount. This band had many world tours also. I don't think that Placebo underrated
Smashed it as ever fella
Thanks!
Soo well played.❤❤
Thank you!
I expected the last entry was going to be a literal placebo, where you didn't actually play anything but did something to make it seem like you are great guitar player or something.
Bloxsy, you f*cking rule. Thanks for the memories!
Thanks mate.
Great. Brick shithouse is one of their most epic riffs imho
Placebo is my favourite band 🙂.
What a band, what a video
Wow man!! So fantastic riffs and sounds!! A question... are those Jazzmaster mics or p90s?? Greetings!
Very cool
i love the bitter end tone
Amazing
Bang on tones
Love this band, so slept on. Wish I wasn't late to the party on this video 😣
You're not late. Welcome! Thanks for watching.
I love Placebo but until I started playing. I wasnt aware that 90% of their songs are power chords although Brian is a máster of strumming.
Just popped "Without You I'm Nothing" into my car's CD player again today after a looong time of not listening to anything Placebo related, and guess what was the first recommended video in my feed next time I got online?
So just remember, your devices are most definitely always listening to you, and I guess I'd just like to say "Hi" to whatever CIA lackey is having to review/monitor all my boring ass activity.
The "Without you I'm Nothing" album has a very complex guitar riffs structure
It's basically the only album you need to listen from them. The rest is just repetitions.
@@MrColaKO The first album is very different too. From "Black Market Music" (despite being a good album) Placebo didn't change his sound and structure.
May i offer my own top 10 of their riffs?))
10. Pure morning
9. English summer rain
8. Black market music
7. Evalia
6. Lady of the flovers
5. 36 degrees
4. Hang on to your IQ
3. Every you and every me
2. Come home
1. Come home (again!!!)))
Thanks))
Of course! I'll give those a listen :)
Great top))
hey!! i loved your vid, placebo is one my favorite bands! do you have the tabs by chance?
Your video is so cool! What are the pickups in your first jaguar guitar please???
They are Wilkinson p90 pickups.
Can you do the top 10 The Offspring riffs
Sound great !! Good job bro!👌 How can i tune my guitar like you ? I’ve got only a standard guitar tuner😢
You can tune to any tuning with a standard guitar tuner. You just need to tune to the notes individually
@@bloxsy_ I will try it 🙏😉
Hi I love Placebo and I would like to know how to play bulletproof Cupid and wehere you get the tabs from
I learnt from watching some other UA-cam guitar videos and also watching live videos of the band playing live.
how’d you get that tone on the katana? it’s absolutely killer
I used the 'crunch' channel with some extra boost on top.
Special K is great also
Hey nice playing ist the guitar gut the coils in there .i want buy this Vintage are Wilkinson god?
The guitar has Wilkinson hardware in which is very good. The pickups are Wilkinson p90s. I'm happy with mine anyway but the squires are also meant to be good but I haven't played them.
Amazing 🫶🏻, what distortion do you use?
Thanks. I used a Boss Katana amp with built in distortion.
fuck yes placebo
first impression of this band. i thought their riffs were gonna be much heavier and badass, the name of the band made me think so, placebo sounds menacing
Wooow, what is the pedal you used in Loud Like Love Dude?
It's a Boss Katana amp with built in octave effect
I like the plant.
Мега хорош, в прочем как всегда
I really would love to know what pedals you are using! 😮
I am just using a Boss Katana 50 mk 2 amp for this. The foot switch is just changing the sounds.
How do i get this distorted guitar tone?
any suggestions on how to learn to play tight?
Maybe try practicing slowly first then play at the normal speed.
Do you use a pitch shifter to change the tuning?
No I tuned up. It’s only a semitone or two at the most.
This was great!
May be an unrealistic suggestion, but any chance of some Mansun?
Take It Easy Chicken
Wide Open Space
Legacy
Everyone Must Win
A good few gems
Thanks! I know a few Mansun songs, but I haven’t heard all those so I’ll give them a listen.
Is nancy boy on standard tunning?
I cant catch up
Yeah
👍🏻✊🏻
No Bruise chorus🤯, one if the best Placebo stuff...
Ah yeah, to be fair, that bit is good.
Teenage Angst sounds like a SP song imo
Hi ! What pedal do you use for this set ?
I used a boss katana amp. All sounds are from there.
@@bloxsy_ okey !! thanks
@@bloxsy_ you've actually draw some of the best from placebo indeed.. some missing, from the yellow and the blue album maybe... but great set
What are the tunings???
infra red ?? special k ??
10 Zippy Kid's Riffs from his album "Peak" -aha-ha_ I think you can't do it ua-cam.com/play/OLAK5uy_kbwO1crWs_8TCYlUOCMZeIIH1hPoJGUhw.html
I thought it was ichika
Судя по живым выступлениям Ичики - он ускоряет свои видео - это читерство
@@Artsunrise он просто социофобный хикан, и на публике ловит дикий мандраж. И я его понимаю, потому что сам такой
Tidy 😎
Like deployed 👍
Man, You Missed Pictures 😢
Certainly takes a skill to write all your songs on one string and at the same tempo.
They’re not the same tempo, use your ears
Neither are they all on one string. As a Rush, Tool, Devin Townsend and Opeth fan: how do you figure that?
Teenage Angst my fav
Riffs are tight, band is good, but there isn't a worse vocalist in all of rock music (maybe Anthony Keidis).
Are you sponsored by Vintage?
No
@@bloxsy_ interesting. That guitar is good though? I love my v6 reissued sunburst.
I’ve never played the V6 but it looks nice.
Come on man show us your face 😂
If you add distortion, it will sound like Nirvana
I had never realised how boring placebos riffs were before this video. I also hadn't realised how unoriginal they are. It's like Sonic Youth if Sonic Youth had zero inspiration.
Learn your skills.
