Massimo Cotto ha incontrato Brian Molko e Stefan Olsdal in occasione dell'uscita di Never Let Me Go, il nuovo album di inediti dei Placebo.
In un’intervista con BBC 6 Music, Brian Molko ha spiegato che il nuovo album dei Placebo Never Let ME Go disco era già pronto dall’inizio del 2020 ed è stato ritardato dalla pandemia e ha detto che il processo di lavorazione è stato: «Non rendere le cose facili a noi stessi». L’origine della creatività dei Placebo, secondo Brian Molko, sta nella poca tolleranza verso la noia: «Stefan Olsdal mi dice sempre che non ha mai conosciuto nessuno con un problema di noia come il mio. Ho una soglia molto bassa, e questo si riflette nel modo in cui lavoriamo». Il nuovo album, ha spiegato Brian Molko, è nato: «Completamente al contrario. Sono andato da Stefan con delle immagini e una lista di titoli di canzoni che ho scritto negli ultimi cinque anni e gli ho detto: scegliamo la copertina dell’album prima di scrivere la musica, iniziamo con i titoli prima delle canzoni e poi registriamo tutto l’album senza un batterista».
Il punto era ritrovare la sensazione di fare qualcosa di diverso: «Ovviamente non abbiamo potuto lavorare esattamente al contrario, ma è stato interessante cambiare completamente approccio» ha detto Brian Molko, «Alla fine abbiamo usato non uno ma due batteristi nel disco».
