    What baby products did you get that you regret buying??

    • @CassMarie7
      @CassMarie7 5 років тому +12

      LIFE OF MADDY agree with every single thing you said. But I also regret having a bassinet. We didn’t use it at all! My son actually slept in one of those Rock n Plays until he was ready for a crib. They are the BEST things ever!

      I regret getting soooooo many cute clothes that where under 3 months old. Who was I kidding? We didn’t ever leave the house and they are more comfortable in onesies or footed pjs...

    I disagree on the changing table. I think it depends on where your baby sleeps. My kids all sleep in their cribs from the beginning-so I used my changing table a bunch.

      I think it also depends on the size of your house. My house isn’t super big so I don’t mind walking over to my change table.

      I skipped the spific changing table, but use the dresser with the hatch changing pad that's a scale too. I like that combo. Plus the dresser will always get used.

      Amazon baby registry has a "diaper fund" option. I think that's a great idea. They just pay for a pack or whatever and then you order what size you need and what kind you want.

    • @mistiecasselberry7055

  • @LeftieLoosie
    @LeftieLoosie 2 роки тому +2

    Just a tip for other moms that might see this.... if you have leftover diapers that are unopened you can exchange them for another size.... at basically any store that carries them depending on the stores return policy... if you have someone to pass them along to thats a great option too, especially if its an open pack or case.... but if they're sealed.... exchange them for a size that you need!!!

  • @lidaparedes7396
    @lidaparedes7396 5 років тому +63

    If the diaper box isn’t open you could of taken it to Walmart or target and exchanged it for the right size that you need! So it’s not completely useless to do a diaper raffle at your baby shower. It’s saving you $$$$

    • @ienmel
      @ienmel 5 років тому +2

      Stormie Menyfield even if they were loss diapers she was suggesting don’t do a diaper raffle which makes no sense sorry I would totally recommend a diaper raffle I wish these were a thing with my kids because I would have loved having all those diapers when I had my babies instead of 200 pieces of clothes..

    • @nikkip.2343
      @nikkip.2343 5 років тому +1

      Omg me too. I'm 23 and no back problems. I bought a changing table at a goodwill for 10 bucks. Bought a new pad. And I used it for a year and a half till my son was too tall. It also stored diapers underneath. Wipes. Toys. That thing was a blessing lmao I highly recommend. I did NOT want to change baby on my bed and my son was sleeping in his crib at 2 months old

    I’m 22 weeks pregnant and I’ve heard from so many people that there is no need for a changing table! I think they’re really an outdated nursery item.. especially when they grow out of them so fast! I also wasn’t sure about a wipe warmer so thank you for the advice 😊

    Thank you so much!!! Being pregnant and still living in a one bedroom until baby is around 3 months was getting me a little insecure but I now realize how much he will be in our bedroom & by the time we move out, he will have his own room then. He will probably still be in his bassinet next to my side of the bed when we move also because he will only be around 3 months old

    I agree on the changing table. How often are you near the child's room to use it? Using a changing pad while downstairs in your home or out and about is the best plan and so much cheaper.

    Oh, I couldn’t live without a changing table. I always walk to the changing table. My son is 15 months now and I still use his changing table every single time. To me it’s easier to have all his changing needs in a drawer, and it eliminates clutter in other rooms. Plus, it helps with back pain to be able to stand at a natural height without bending over.

  • @nicoleloves9613
    @nicoleloves9613 5 років тому +20

    I agree about the changing table when they're newborn sleeping in your room, you don't use the changing table. But when they get in their own room a changing table is awesome! It's better than having to get up and down off the floor to change them, or like when they get out of the bath you can just take him to the changing table and get them all lotioned up and dressed

    A changing table is absolutely necessary! Used mine with both of my babies from day 1 until the end. And a diaper raffle at a baby shower is a savior! I didnt buy diapers for at least 5 months with both babies thanks to babyshower raffle. You just open 1 pack at a time and places such as target and walmart will let you exchange or even return diapers.

    It’s crazy how different our experiences are lol I’m SO glad I did a diaper raffle. I just exchanged the diapers for the size I needed. I didn’t have to buy diapers for the first year!! But I 100% agree about the wipe warmer. It’s also been known to grow bacteria bc of the warmth. And it shocks them when you’re changing them away from home and don’t have warm wipes. More cons to the warmer for sure!
    I agree about the changing table as well. Never used ours after 2wks old. Waste of money in my opinion.

    I definitely used my changing table for the first probably 3 months. I toyed with buying one, and I’m really grateful I did because I ended up having a crash c section and standing straight up was the only comfortable position for diaper changes for me.

    Our pack n play combo had a changing pad attachment and I used it ALWAYS until my son was about 4 or5 months. He quickly outgrew it. Now I just lay him on a towel on the carpet and change him. 🌝🤰🏽I’m preggs with my 2nd now and I think I may get an actual changing table for this one.

    It blows my mind how many moms don't find a changing table necessary! Obviously everyone's different and a lot of moms get by without one. But I can count the times I've changed my daughters diaper NOT on the changing table (in the house) on one hand. I ALWAYS use it.

    My baby will be sleeping in my bedroom in bassinet for the first 4-5 month so I got little corner changing table that doesn’t take much space but it’s nice to have it plus all side shelves and baskets work as good organization piece.
    For downstairs I bough non slip changing pad with handle and high edges that can be used for first 1.5-2 years. That I can use on the couch or floor.

    Mom of three here, I completely agree on the changing table! It’s easier and truly safer to simply change the baby on the floor with a just a pad under their bums! Wipe warmers are totally a waste of money, yes! I agree on the bottles too!! Buy big and just size down the flow till you need the faster ones! Diapers too! Do a book raffle instead!! Books are ALWAYS a great way to stock up a home!!

    I love having a changing table! My little one is 6 weeks old and we use it every night and morning because we feed her in her nursery. It’s also great for storage! I also disagree with the diapers. You can exchange for different sizes but you’ll want a good supply so you don’t have to worry about running out those first couple months with a newborn. I definitely agree with the complicated clothes! I totally thought I’d be dressing her in super cute clothes everyday but I prefer just putting her in onesies every day.

    I stocked up on diapers and wipes with my first born and did the same with this baby I'm due with in April. I would just recommend to keep them closed and exchange the unopened ones as baby grows out. I didn't buy any diapers for the first year with my first and I expect to not have to buy any diapers for the next 1.5 years with this baby. I got a bunch of freebies in newborn size but different brands to know that baby will be okay and not have an allergic reaction to anything so I'll exchange those boxes if that happens.

    I’ve used his changing table since day 1. And the wipe warmer is the only way I got my newborn to not scream during diaper changes. Ours never dries out the wipes. Agreed about the swaddles! My son hated it! He loves having his arms free!

    I’m so glad I did a diaper raffle, my daughter is almost 7 mo and we still have a few cases. The cases are to small but I take them to the store and exchange them for what size she need at the time. Most stores do an in store credit and as long as they have those diapers they will do it. No need to have a receipt and no need to match the store they came from.

I change her there every time! 😁 although when she was sleeping in our room we didn’t go to the nursery to use the table.

    I am doing a diaper raffle, but I included on the invitations a specific diaper size to bring if they’re going to participate. It takes some organization and thought, but that way there will be some variance with the sizes!

    Thank you for sharing! 😊 but for mommies who do need a wipe warmer (my daughter hated cold wipes) when you open the warmer flip the wipes upside down for moist warm wipes. Add water if need be. Also for the left over diapers, I returned them. I scanned the diapers with the bar code scanner and was able to see what store they were bought at. You don't need the receipt if it's a big chain store like target or Walmart. They just give you store credit and I exchanged them for the size I needed 😊

    I used the swaddles for months, and used receiving blankets for that purpose after. My son wouldn’t sleep without being swaddled. I think everything is different with each baby 😮 Never know what you’re going to need!

    As a soon-to-be mom and a mom of a 25 and 21 year old, I can say to each their own. Aside from changing tables, some of these products were never even around 25 years ago. I never used many of them, especially a diaper pail or wipe warmer, and made it just fine. But again, to each their own...

    Everyone is different but have 3 kids, used changing tables a few times on first baby, never used wipe warmer, used receiving blankets for swaddle, I bought individual bottles until I saw what they liked, u can use them small bottles for juice and water since you have them ❤the millers such a cute family

      leelee w agree with your entire comment!!! Exactly the same for me. The warmers have more cons than pros, changing tables aren’t worth the money, and I used receiving blankets as well. Also used the smaller bottles for water and juice. We must have older children hahaha

    Very good list. I knew from the beginning that I was only going to buy one type of bottle. Luckily he hasn’t had any trouble with them. Also, the wipe warmer is something I never wanted to deal with too. I found out real quick some of the complicated baby clothes were not going to get used near as much as a simple zipper sleeper (my favorite are the cloud island brand from target).

      All I've bought for my 2nd baby in newborn sizes is the cloud island sleepers and some Burt's bees sleepers 😂 the cloud island are the best especially when they have the inverted zipper

    I have 2 kids and currently 18 weeks with my third. I totally agree with not needing a changing table. I had one with my oldest and never used it, and It collected a lot of stuff. I don’t recommend diaper genies either. They just stink and the bags are just another thing to buy often. My last baby was 5 years ago so I’m starting over but I’m not going to worry about it because now I know what I need to buy and what not to waste my time or money on.

    I used my son's changing table a lot especially at night or after a bath. But I did use other surfaces in the house like the couch and floor if he was just wet. With baby #2 I won't be doing a changing table, mostly because of space but will mostly likely just use my bed or his bed to change him. Trying to simplify what our needs and wants are.

    You can exchange diapers at Walmart or Target as long as they sell that brand there.

    You can exchange diapers without a receipt at target and Walmart. So DO ask for diapers. If you end up with 3 extra packs of size 1 then exchange them for a 2 and so on.

    Not a mom, also don't really want kids, but it's be great if you made a video on what to get new moms for baby showers... I'm at an age where basically everyone is getting engaged and married and having babies and as someone who doesn't care about that stuff as much buying something useful is hard.

    Hahahaha I wanted to comment on some of your pregnancy videos about buying so much stuff. BUT first time Mum lesson right there! Every baby likes something different. But I do disagree with the changing table.. each to their own but both my babies slept in their rooms from a very early age & so we use ours A LOT. I also found it better for my back. Also Mum's who have had c-sections a changing table is at a better height & much more comfortable to use
