Hey Guys! So wanted to be specific on a few items I touched based on. 1) Put what you need on your registry but don't expect to receive everything even high ticket items. When purchasing left over items. you get a discount at buybuybaby on NOT JUST the items on your registry but on EVERYTHING you purchase at that time even if it is not on your registry. 2) EVERY BABY IS DIFFERENT! Which is why I recommend only getting one bottle from a brand and not multiple because you do not know if they will take it. My registry must haves video will be up next week. Hope this helps clarifies things.
LIFE OF MADDY can you please make a video on pop yum bottles
How did you manage to get places like 4moms & BABYBREZZA to send you products ?
Also don’t expect to get anything from your registry. Lots of people don’t even look at it and just buy whatever they want to get.
I think I said that in the video lol
LIFE OF MADDY I know you talked about the high priced items but I didn’t hear you talk about not getting anything else from the registry, sorry
@@HeatherLovesFeathers ya I think part of it got edited out by my editor but I touched on how I got a ton of stuff that wasn't on my registry lol. Its very common and to be honest I think more so for girls because everyone just wants to get cute girl clothes lol 😂
LIFE OF MADDY Totally! I didn’t put any clothing items on my registry because I already bought all the clothes she needs and I still got mostly clothes and blankets 😂
Yes! My close family didn’t get me anything that was on my register. It kind of made me mad because that was the stuff I really really wanted & needed. Instead I got 44 onesies and 500 pairs of socks 🤷🏼♀️
I would personally say to add the high price items because most registries offer a discount on remaining items as you get closer to your due date! Other than that this was definitely helpful.
Totally agree I was just saying don’t expect to receive them in most cases. At buybuybaby you get discount on your entire purchase not just your registry items which is nice 😊
And there is group gifting 😬
Agreed, I put many high dollar items on mine (nursery furniture) knowing that no one would purchase those items, but so I could get the discount!
Does it work on Amazon too?
@@Angie-qd7sn yes
My stroller, car seat, high chair, and pack n play were all bought off my registry lol. It’s fun putting together your registry (especially for your first) so you can add as much as you want and whatever you want!
Taylor Stephens I agree! People are going to buy you what they want to, but if they know you need those expensive things there is likely to be a few people who want to get necessities! I put what I want/what I need on there and people can feel free to get me what they want, some people want to get cute things and ya gotta let them.
Agree! And anything that isn’t bought it’s nice to have a list to go back to to see what you liked at the time and but it then. We loaded our list for our first lol
It’s not an LOL but a blessing people brought it for you
Your comment screams entitled and to be honest you don't seem grateful you seemed happy that it was "free"😬
I agree. My husband and I are nurses so all of the high priced items were purchased quickly from coworkers and friends. Many of them put money together and bought a group gift!
*mentions Gucci in a baby video, about loses me completely*
HahHaha I told my man I wanna buy my baby Gucci slides and he’s even not born yet.. He said no 🤣
This is great, but def do add your high ticket items that you DO need. It doesn't matter if nobody gets it for you. You will get a completion discount, which applies to those items and it will save YOU money. Add EVERYTHING that you need and open registries at places that you know you will shop even if it is expensive. I created a Pottery Barn Kids registry and added the crib, the Nuna stroller, blankets, etc. My parents bought us the crib and went with us to use the completion discount on it to save them money. My In-laws gave us money for the stroller and same thing... used the completion discount towards it and saved some money. I never shared that registry with my friends. I just knew that there were high ticket items that I knew I absolutely wanted from there that our parents were willing to buy for us, so I added it and applied the funds they provided to buy it at a discounted price.
Target will give you a discount on the items on your registry that weren't bought so after your baby shower scan the like detergent for an extra discount
People loveee to get you shampoos and lotions like can you get some diapers 😂
Girl most people at my shower were all about clothes lmao
I'll never bring clothes to a baby shower again lol diapers and wipes from now on
I got mostly clothes and daipers from other people.
Yup, every baby shower I've gone to people spend $40 on a bunch of outfits, and i'm like 'you could've spent that on a box of diapers and wipes'. My sisters friends were smart, she had a entire wall of diapers/wipes after her baby shower, and it lasted her almost a year.
I did a diaper raffle at my baby shower. People brought a present and diapers / wipes. We ended up with enough diapers for 6 months.
Good tips but my Mexican family no one bought from my registry lol
Yadhira Chaparro black family’s don’t either 🤣🤣
Lmao my husband is Mexican and I’m black and so far one person bought from our registry and that was my coworker 😂 everything else was what our family “thought” we needed 😂
Lol we're white and no one has bought from our registry either. SMH. I guess people just think they know better lol.
Seriously🙄 my mexican family tooo!!!
My Puerto Rican family didn't buy anything from my registry either, nor did my husbands American family.......
Swaddle blankets are a must. They are super versatile. We used them as burp cloth, diaper changing pads, car seat cover, stroller cover, breastfeeding cover, spit up clean up etc.
You can get them at the dollar store for a dollar
Im so thankful for my family because being a teen mom despite being 19 i had a lot of family get me those high priced items that i absolutely was not expecting to happen like a baby swing, car seat, and play pen
I actually received all/most of the high price items off my registry (including my crib)! Most of the items actually got shipped directly to my house so that's a great option for people who don't want to lug the item to the baby shower. I think it's great to give people the opportunity to purchase items at different price points because some people will actually want to help by purchasing those necessary higher priced items, especially if its your first baby.
We were very blessed, I added the Uppa stroller, highchair, car seat, pack n play, gym, hatch sound maxhine, changing table, baby brezza sterilizer ,bouncer, and swing and got it all! We also received pretty much everything on the registry and the stuff I got that wasnt on the registry, was very useful. Didnt have to return anything💕 all my baby bottles and pacifiers I got for free from target, amazon, baby list, walmart, baby box and my cousin who recently had her baby gave me all of the bottles she never used. My pump I got for free through my insurance. We haven’t spent much on. Just her crib lol we have been beyond blessed by family and friends💕 and now my husbands boss is having a baby shower for us in a few days for all the people at work 🥰. We are so thankful
Maria Bustamante I’m due in 6 weeks and I don’t even have enough friends and family to have a registry or baby shower 😅
Wow that's great !!
Oh my goodness. I'm so jealous. I saved thousands during my pregnancy and spent alot of it buying for myself. My family did their little baby shower so late (a month after my baby came home 😡) that I had spent my savings on most of the things I needed already. 🤪
I had 3 baby showers, planned by my friends, in-laws, and job..we were set! In addition my dad brought diapers for 2 years under a Amazon subscription, I would just change the size when needed! It’s amazing how family and friends come together for support!!
You made really good tips! But I would say that even though you may not use some items right now, they are always good to have in stock in case you go through some hardship in the future. Better to be safe than sorry.
YES, I always think like this. Gotta stock up for my child
Clearly you have $ if you are broke put it all on there!!!
Emaline90 yesssssss. Thank you!!!!!!! I was going to comment the same but didn’t know how to word it.
Yessss
This 👏
Lmao 😂
Please don't lol. Most of these convenience items you're NOT gonna use.
My stroller, carseat, and high chair came from my baby shower 🤷♀️
Same and we had boy/girl twins, so it was two of a lot of things.
I got my bassinet, pack and play, swing, walker, play mat, high chair, car seat, car seat stroller combo,
and changing table all from my shower!
We did a men’s pamper party. So the girls got the baby shower all cute like and the boys got there drinking having fun party where instead of gifts they just brought diapers. It helped soooo much and it was fun for them.
Do they play games like in a baby shower or just hang out and do what guys do?
Izzy De La Garza smart!
Ummm.... I LOVE this!!! How cool is that???
PREACH!!! I love your honesty! My husband and I are saving this video for when we begin to try and have children. Love your videos, thanks for always keeping it real!
I’m not pregnant, but I love your videos like this! It’s really good to watch now so I can learn things for later.
So helpful! I have the infant optics monitor on my registry - I’ve heard great things!! Can’t wait to see your other registry video 💗💗
I did a diaper raffle- it was probably the best thing I did. I had diapers until my daughter was 7 months. Same with wipes!
Curious as well
For all asking..I did a diaper raffle as well as a formula raffle becauseI cant breastfeed. Put it on the invitations with the exact formula and if you want to stick with a certain diaper brand/size I did NB-3 because you can exchange them. Whenever someone brings a raffle item they put their name in the bucket and draw a name towards the end. The prize can be a 15 dollar gift card or something like that.
We didn’t do a diaper raffle but we had diapers from the baby shower and we were good for the first 3-4 months of our daughters life and that helped so much lol
Found this super helpful!! I’m working on my registry now as a first time mom thanks Madison
In my opinion you can never ask for too many diapers. You can get any sizes. You will eventually use them. You can always trade in or save for next kid or gift to a friend. I didn’t get any diapers and it was so sad!
Loving these types of videos! I’m 29 weeks now and so helpful!!
Awesome video!! Definitely going to share with fiends who are doing their registry! I made a few of those mistakes!! ❤️❤️
I love both your main channel and vlog channel, videos are always consistant and full of wonderful information. Luv you Maddy♥️
Only a few people bought from my registry. I like to create the registry anyways because of the completion discount you get.
Maddy you have the BEST videos for first time moms! I've been watching all of them - thanks so much!
I'm currently 37weeks & 3days pregnant w/our second child (boy #2) & we we kept it super simple this time by only buying things we know well need like a few new outfits (mostly onesies), mittens (so he won't scratch his face), a couple bottles, a couple binkies, a new car seat, 3 packs of diapers (1 newborn & 2 size 1), 3 packs of wipes, a new baby bathtub, 2 shampoos, 1 lotion, 1 baby powder, 1 diaper rash cream, a rattle, gifted a new diaper bag & bassinet. I also got a bumbo bc even though he won't use it for the first few months I'll have it when he's ready. That's it. We kept our sons old crib, stroller & pack'n'play bc we knew we wanted more kids. I still use dreft on our 3y/o son's clothes so it's always stocked in our house & we still have baby washcloths that or son never used bc we bought too much stuff the first time around but this time we tried to play it smarter. (Thankfully our 3yr old is out of diapers & training pants just in time for us to start all over buying then again..lol.)
I figure we're can buy anything else we need when the time comes.
Omg I literally updated my registry as I watched this lol thank you a million 🙌 such good info ❤️❤️
Great video. Thank you! It was well thought out and I appreciated the bullet points.
Baby towels make the best hair towels when baby grows up! I still use my sons baby towels for my hair!
Autumn Delk me toooo
Husband and I are TTC so I've been binge watching you videos, it helps taking the anxiety away having a positive distraction lol
You are smart for watching pregnancy videos! Start training your mind and body to believe it will be pregnant 😉 sending you lots of baby dust 💕✨
Literally me too! I’m gonna try to conceive in 11 days💖🎀
It'll happen when it's meant to happen 😊 sending baby dust your way! Hubby and I didn't do anything different besides using preseed lubricant. I got pregnant on my first cycle.
90% of the gifts I got were not on my registry. Good thing to keep in mind. Make your registry but wait to buy things until after your shower. You never know what you’ll get because so many don’t use your registry. Also I promise you will get tons of clothes, blankets, a diaper bag and probably a swing lol. I just had my shower and I’ve been to so many and everyone gets those.
I am very happy I waited to buy stuff until after my baby showers. I was able to see what I got and now I’m able to get what I actually need. I also am glad I had mine at 30 weeks instead of the usual 34 weeks. I’m 31 weeks now and have plenty of time to get what I need. It was so hard to wait to buy but again worth it. I received a lot of stuff I needed, if I had bought stuff before my shower I could have ended up with too many things and would have had to deal with either the wasted money or hassle of returning duplicates.
no high ticket items...but most of the items in your baby registry video are over $100?
Hence the reason she included that in this video
Lol right!!!
Lmaooooo
Some expensive items are worth it because they last so long
I know this is an older video, but honestly the best baby related video I’ve ever seen. Very helpful, thank you!
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH... for this info! I am 13 weeks and just starting my registry. This is my first baby, so though the adding to my registry is exciting, it's been quite overwhelming.
Awesome tips on the registry! I needed this video as I am finalizing my registry. My mom asked about high priced items and I only put a stroller hoping a parent decides to buy the stroller. Thank you for the diaper tip! It is great that stores will let you exchange the size of unopened diapers.
How do you do this?? I had no idea!
Thanks for the heads up😊😊😊 love you!!💕💕💕
Hi Maddy!! Uuu these are great points and suggestions! I’m sharing this! My friend needs this right now!
Totally agree with everything you said ! I got the bare minimum with my two girls and they used everything , I did not have to get anything else the first few weeks .
This was so helpful! Thank you!
Great video! We have a fawn bag too and love it! 100% agree with everything! ♥️♥️
This was so helpful, Thanks
Such a great video very informative, second baby for me and I am enjoying knowing and learning what I don’t need 🙌🏽
Really loved this video and your whole attitude in this!!! 🙃
Sleep sacks were a must for me! (Both short sleeve and a warmer long sleeve fleece one)
Thank you so much I'm updating my registry while watch this.
Yess this video was a God send 🙏🙌🏼👏🏼 1st time momma & needed some guiding!
Who told you not to put lotion on your baby until a month old. I'm a mom of 4. Ages 14, 5, 2, 9m.... Never have I heard such a thing. My last 2 babies were nicu babies and myself and the nurses put lotion on my babies.
I was told by the doctor to keep lotion on my baby because they get so dry so easily.
I never heard of that either. My baby's skin was so dry. And my doctors said it was ok to put on lotion.. and i plan on putting lotion on my second baby lol
i was looking for a comment about this😂
Forreal!
Never heard such things either, I am a mom of 4 and I put baby lotion on my newborns. I am also a mother baby nurse, sometimes if the newborn has a very dry skin, the pedi prescribes a baby moisturizer. To each their own I guess, but I love baby lotion on my babies since day 1.
Thank you so much for this video. I really needed someone to tell me the mobile wasn't necessary because I kept thinking it but felt pressured to ask for one. Marked off my registry!
10:20 I've never had a problem with my Baby Brezza formula maker. They have a website and you HAVE to go to to find out what setting to put it on and you HAVE to keep up with the cleaning Maintenance. I have been using it since my son was 1 1/2 months and I'm planning on using it for my next son. I love it so much Especially at night. Works wonders.
This video is extremely helpful!
Super useful thank you!
Most people coming to baby showers WANT to get high ticket items because they really want to help you. In my experience they are usually the first items purchased from registries. The other info was very helpful though!
Very very helpful ! About to go delete and add things to my registry right now ! Thank you 💖
You are awesome, this is so helpful. Off topic - I love your hair and headband!! Where did you find it?
They recommend putting things that they will use for the 1st year of there life. If you concentrate on just what you need when you come home you will have WAY to much stuff that you will never use.
A lot of the times you don’t even get stuff from your registry. I got tons of gifts from my registry but few items that I needed for the first 5 months. So I had to go and buy that all after the fact. I rather get what I need for the first 5 months and then save and make the other purchases around 5 months instead of being hit with that huge bill all at once. That’s why I say focus and spend your money on what you need for the beginning stages and wait for the other purchases to spread out costs. Simplifying your registry will increase your chances of getting the necessary 0-5 month items. Hope this makes sense💕
Total agree with most of your suggestions... 1 4pk aden and anais Blanket, at least 10 wash cloths, all free and clear detergent, preferably just two bottles sets for eg dr brown has a 6 (4oz & 8oz)piece set for 20$. I tested my baby brezza water and formula measurement often and its exact, However I started using it 5 months. A boppy chair is awesome to start with if you don’t want to get a high chair. My registry has things up to a year and I got almost everything but you’re so right in keeping it small
This is soooo helpful
Really good advice!
Draft is amazing I recommend and there draft stain remover worked like a charm on my sons cloths
Dreft stain remover is the best thing ever!
I just finished my registry & only put things I’d need help with . I’ve edited it like 3 times! I put the more expensive items like the stroller&carseat, boppy pillow, bottles, bathtub , diapers & wipes ,Baby grooming set, thermometer , anything cheap or things I can just purchase myself I just put in my cart .
I put a baby wrap , swaddle blanket , pacifier clips & essential oil diffuser as well
Don't put newborn diapers 😂 just buy a pack. They barely go through the newborn diapers.
Also, swaddles are amazing. The muslin ones. You don't have to use it as a swaddle, you can use it to cover baby in car seat or for tummy time too!
For high chairs, think about the future...like, a convertible one. I love the Graco one, we use them for our babies at work and we get a lot of use out of it.
Breast pumps tho: totally depends on you. I always hear good things about the Spectra s2 though. I just got a brand new one from a friend so I'm probably going to get the Medela from my insurance.
AND GET A BACKPACK DIAPER BAG. trust man.
Great tips! 👍
Literally the best & honest baby video out there ! Soo true! I over buyed sooo much stuff! And i am still using the same bottle of shampoo since birth lol and he is 1 yr old now
So true ! Well done 👌🏼
thanks for this! I def' focused on stuff I needed for when she's here from the hospital... still overwhelming tho LOL
Thank you so much for this video! Very helpful! I’m obly putting those big items on the registry for the discount after lol.
I love hearing how people pronounce Anais. It’s my middle name and I’ve always pronounced it like Anay (rhymes with Renae) but after some research I did, it’s actually pronounced with the ‘s’. In French (it’s a French name) if a word starts with a vowel and ends in a consonant then you pronounce the consonant, so it turns in to Ah-nah-eece (rhymes with... like Ana-Greece)
Love the tips on the registry. I love your necklace, where did you get it from?
Hello this was so helpful! I'm currently working on my baby registry and it gets overwhelming and stressful at times. I'm currently 7 months, so I feel like I'm on a time crunch since everyone keeps asking if I had my registry yet. I was struggling with what exactly to put on there, I'm like I don't want to put too much or too little stuff on there. After this video I'm gonna watch your everything you need for a baby registry, thanks again!
From our experience, we registered for our high ticket items but made sure to register for all price points. I do agree with pretty much the rest of your advice. But we were gifted all of our high price options
I had 12 muslin swaddles and use them constantly. They're so handy for 800 uses so... I agree with everything you said but that
Courtney Austin same! I used it as a blanket, for diaper changes when out in public, covering the stroller, tons of things!
Really love your videos! They're so concise, thorough and everything is so nicely organized! As well as your channel is quite different than other channels on UA-cam. So many youtubers make the same videos with the same or very similar content and it's like "okay okay we get it, I've only heard this 1,000 times" lol. Keep it up!
I put high-ticket items on my registry specifically for any discounts I get towards the end of my pregnancy! Getting 15% off everything left from both Target and Amazon.
I bought the most minimal stuff too at first and then borrowed or bought when I knew what I needed when the baby was home
I wish I’d gotten more swaddle blankets. My baby loves them. She’s also very good with bottles. I haven’t used one that she didn’t like. I have at least one of all the bigger brands of bottles and she loves them all. I lucked out on that. She’s also been great with diapers too. Have had no issues with the different brands I’ve gotten (got multiple in case she was allergic to a specific brand)
I put my fawn diaper bag on my amazon registry. Just a heads up you can add it to your registry.
People always get what they want which is usually clothes lol. But to add to must have is a sound machine
Emily Rosengren I’m currently six months pregnant and been debating over a sound / white noise machine. Would you say they’re necessary or can baby sleep fine without them? Because my baby will be sleeping in my room and any sort of noise keeps me awake so if I got a sound machine it would keep me up all night.
@@NaNoon27 the baby should be fine at home sleeping without it.I have it attached to the carseat for when we are out to drown out noise. But when they are a few months old you can train the baby with the sleep noise to go to sleep.
@@NaNoon27 honestly my baby never used the white noise feature that came with our bassinet. I started using the music feature WAY later when she was like 4-6 months just to drown out noise because she's a very light sleeper.
It’s so funny the differences with moms. I absolutely loveeeee the on the go changing stations. I always keep wipes, a few diapers and an outfit in mine with bags that smell so fresh. It has been a life saver for us. I can’t count how many times I’ve used it. I just clip it on the handles of my diaper bag that I had specially made for us. Many times in the car on trips, long or short. With my two older kids hello hello wasn’t around. I used pampers baby dry that’s what worked for them and natural wipes. Then pampers and huggies when they were older but mostly pampers.&I personally preferred huggies natural care wipes over the pampers wipes. With my youngest he was just as sensitive as my other kids but 10x worse &hello bello has been a god send! The only diapers that worked for him. We use all their products. Even my older kids do. Now that he’s moving around crawling/starting to walk; we use the huggies movers and the hello bello. Also with my youngest he used all the things my other two didn’t like. Ie: binkies, the wubbanub to be exact. We bought those and the mam to try. He loved to be swaddled for the first month atleast . It’s funny how different kids are. I think a lot of moms go over board and get a swing, a bouncy a this a that. To be honest I think they should wait and get maybe just one item like that or if they have any family members or friends that have babies. Try something they have see if they like it.. some babies don’t like swings or mamaroos etc. I think you did well with the tips you gave :)
I’m loving these videos, Maddy! They’re so very helpful. I’m due at the end of August so we’re in the homestretch but I still have a few things to do on the list. Can’t wait to see the hospital bag video.
Ok my question is about the crib mattress: I was not quite sure if you said Newton was the brand. Was that it?
Yes the Newton is the brand. Next week I’ll be uploading a registry must haves video 😊 and will have it all linked there!
I guess we were lucky because most of the high priced/most needed items were purchased off of my registry. Crib, dresser, bedding set, stroller, 2 car seats, swing and etc., of course we got all the clothes and diapers and smaller items people usually buy you too but really thankful our friends and family got us what we wanted.
As a mommy of 2..soon to be 3....there is nothing wrong with putting different pacifiers or bottles on your registries. What you don’t want to do is add only a specific brand as you really don’t know which brand baby will like.
The best monitor was an Angelcare Movement Monitor. Saved our daughters life.
You have to have your high ticket items... people go in in a group. I didn’t purchase any of my expensive items and I think that’s true for a lot of my friends and stuff!
People buy you shampoo and lotion without asking or on the registry haha they go crazy!
Baby towels are a complete waste. I use regular towels.
Agree on swaddles. I have so many. She didn’t like being swaddled. Used zero
That’s a GREAT idea to ask for a book with a message instead of a card. That way you get something useful (and kids like to eat and tear up books, so you can never have too many lol).
*Going to delete most of my registry now* 😂
when you make a registry at some places (I did Buy Buy Baby and Target) they will give you a free bag of samples for registering with them. I got about 4/5 different bottles that I'm going to try first before I buy any bottles to see what my baby will like. they also give you little samples of diapers, wipes, soap, lotions so you can try those and figure out what your baby likes before you splurge
Im not even expecting but yet here I am watching this I’m dying for a fourth baby 😂
I'm a year late lol but working on registry. My worry is that people are not going to buy items from my registry😑
Hello Madison! Thank you so much for making this video it was extremely helpful! :)
I have lots of diapers on my registry because we're doing cloth diapers and those are harder to find and harder for people to know what we want and like. I also have a universal registry which allows me to put "must have" next to the items that I really need. All the rest is extra and if I get it, great, but if I don't no sweat.
You still get a discount of 15-20% from Amazon and a 15% discount from Target for anything you do put on the registry that doesn't get bought, so I still think it's worth it to add the expensive stuff. Even if you have to buy it yourself, it saves you money to put it on there.
#Millersquad 💖🙌🏼
love u 💖💖
If you put high ticket items on your registry with target, closer to the end of pregnancy whatever you didn’t get goes on 15-20% off sale
Hey girl! Been watching your videos while I’m in my last 10 weeks of pregnancy with my first :) I just thought I should let you know that as far as diapers, if the box is unopened, you can go to Target and exchange them for a bigger size even without the receipt! As long as they carry that brand. I’m not sure what other stores do this, but definitely Target!! I used to babysit this 15 month old and her parents just kept giving me advice (before this whole pandemic happened).
Best of luck! & love the content 😊
Omg I have to find out if they still do this!!!! Thanks!
Im not having a baby atm but I'm still watching this
Great video. Honestly wish you would have put pictures of each item you spoke on and maybe the ones you liked as comparison because 🤷🏼♀️ I had no idea on most of these Im really just going by my imagination at this point. Great video though. Presentation lighting editing. v nice
You def need more than 1 pack of wash cloths... I had to get a few more.
shortyylu I agree. This is my first pregnancy, but I’ve been a nanny for a LOOOONG time, and I like to use them to clean faces after meals. She must use a lot of paper towels or something. Or maybe her baby just isn’t eating solids yet.
I got one pack but it was a pack of like 12 so I'm all good. Probably depends on your definition of a pack
Audrey S I use a lot there good for using as thin blankets , for spit up and drool or if your babies a happy puker like mine was because using paper towels isn’t the bed on a baby. I’d clean her up with baby wipes then a recieving blanket then of corse a bath but if I couldn’t give her a bath then I’d just do that. Also to put down for changing in nasty public places if you forget your changing mat
