You can use the funnel to screw and unscrew the cap. Also when removing the air, put you hand near the filling hole, you can feel the air escape while pushing down the bottom.
I"m glad you do pillow reviews. They may be the most important thing we all use every single day (night) and have the most difficulty getting right. I'm over 50 and I STILL have not found a pillow that makes me happy. Now, that being said- I would never feel comfortable with a water pillow on my bed or couch or anywhere else. One failure, one leak, and you're dealing with some serious damage issues to your furniture. And a ruined night of sleep. Plus, I like to bend and smash and flip my pillows when they get warm or flat. No way all that manipulation doesn't bust a water pillow. No thanks!
A mate picked up one of these pillows unused second hand along with a memory foam pillow to stuff inside a waterproof backpack and use as a quad bike seat. We didn’t actually know what it was when he bought it and though it was a gel pillow or something. Anyway we filled it nearly full and stuffed it in the bag with the other pillow underneath it. It lasted quite a while to be fair but it did eventually leak. Felt decent while it lasted and u can kind of feel the bladder move around when your sat on it but it’s obv not made for fully grown lads bouncing around on it. We cut it open and it’s basically a regular pillow with a soft plastic bag between the filling like what u get in a camel back

"In the 70s everybody had a waterbed. I didn't really have one because it felt weird to me." Immediately followed by: "I like weird products and this seems weird to me." Lol
I slept on a water bed for near enough twenty years, but mine was a water tube design where it was just seven or eight long vinyl tubes that had to be filled individually and laid into the foam mattress form. It was a rather unique bed design, but a pain to maintain, as the tubes would occasionally develop leaks. I've yet to find any other bed that offers the kind of deformable support that a water bed can, but I also haven't been willing to spend $3k on one of the top of the line Temper-pedic all foam mattresses.
@@mndlessdrwer i had that exact same style water bed, with the long tubes; im 28 but got it from the guest room when we got a new one and my parents had had it since the 80s. Best bed i ever slept on.
@@MajesticSkywhale It's definitely one of those polarizing subjects. Either you love it or you hate it. I loved my water bed while I had it. It eventually developed some irrecoverable leaks and had to be scrapped, and I've been attempting to replicate the sensation of it in its prime through the application of various foams ever since.
My grandmother had a waterbed and we kids tought it was wierd and funny, damn good back support tough I must say but a pain to maintain in the long run.
Outstanding pillow!! My wife and I used it for years before switching to the Purple pillows. Our 3 year old son uses it now and he loves it too. Adjustability for neck and shoulder support and love the comfort. Was really great. I'd get another one in a heartbeat. I used the Firm water fill, my wife used the Medium.
I have been using one for over 5 years. It was recommended by my Chiropractor, and I love it. My wife doesn't like it so we emptied the water out of it, and she uses it as a normal pillow.
I've never had an issue with my 2 cats. I can definitely see this being something to consider if your cats tend to knead on pillows or are more destructive though.
All my life I had problems with headaches during sleep. It would last for about an hour after I got up and then be gone. About 15 years ago I tried the water pillow. That was the end of my headaches. This was awesome! The only other pillow that had ever helped was a $100.00 for a down pillow. However, that only lasted for about 2 weeks and the headaches were back. $200.00 a month for pillows is not in my budget. The water pillow keeps the headaches away for about 3 years, then I need to get a new one. In fact, I ordered one just before watching your video. I am going to try the gel toped one this time. It's back to the $100.00 price but if it lasts like the others, it's still worth it. Other than that, it is just a good quality pillow. However, if someone has problems with their pillows especially headaches, it's worth a try.
I’ve always wondered if someone made a pillow from water I’ve just been to lazy to look it up thank god I saw this in my recommended now I’m not wondering
I love these pillow s. I have two! Very heavy when filled up. Great for broad shouldered persons that sleep on their side. I find it easier to fill at the kitchen sink with the spray attachment inserted. I fill mine with as much water as it will hold.

@@jg148jg it gets quite a bit more firm when you really add water to it. The downside to that is the pillow gets really heavy and hard to move at night. I generally fill mine up such that i have just enough water that when i lay down on it my head doesn't displace the water completely. It's firm and supportive while also staying relatively cool.
About 20 yrs. ago, I used a water pillow I bought at the Brookstone store. I loved it! Unlike this one, the water chamber was more in the middle of the pillow, so I could flip the pillow and use either side. Also, generally, the pillow stayed cool for long enough, & I could flip it when I needed it cool again. The pillow you’re demonstrating seems a little easier to fill than the one I had. I used mine for years until it somehow got a puncture in it. I could never find another water pillow again. I was glad to see you reviewing a water pillow, but this new model likely wouldn’t work for me, as I’m a very warm sleeper, particularly my head. Thanks for this review.
I work for a chiropractor and we sell a TON of water pillows made by ChiroFlow!!! Soooo many people love them because they can adjust the thickness of the pillow by increasing or decreasing the amount of water in them. They greatly help people who have chronic neck pain and upper back pain!

I had this pillow and slept on it for years. I loved it because it didn't move around. My husband would sleep in the middle of the bed and my pillow would fall off until I got this pillow. Then he kinda respected my side by realizing he had to make an effort to move my pillow over. Where as before it would just give way to his arm as he rolled over.
Water beds remind me of Edward Scissorhands when he poked a hole in the bed with his scissorhands. The bed popped and it looked like a water fountain 🤣
I’ve used a water pillow for about 8-9 years and it’s still my favorite. As he describes in the video, the key is finding the right amount of water to get the firmness just right. The pillows usually last me 2-3 years before they need to be replaced because the cushioning eventually goes flat. I’ve never had a single leak with the 3 pillows I’ve had since I started using them.
This something I would like to try out. I had a water bed as a teenager and loved it. If I were single I would have one now. Nice review and interesting product.
The "cool" factor could have been achieved when filling it with y'know...VERY cold water, before you sleep. On the flip side (pun intended) very warm water would also work.
I’m going to purchase this to play a prank on my guests. I’ll fill it with fake blood instead of water and purposely leave it so the seal is barley on and guaranteed to come off while they’re sleeping. I’ll wait for the freak out when they wake up thinking they’ve been bleeding out of their head during the night.
I tried the as seen on tv Chillo that you fill with water then once activated (let sit out for 4 hours) put on top of your pillow or you put it inside the pillow case. Read the instructions wrong and learned that it didn’t need to be put in the refrigerator unless you wanted it colder. I loved it. I happened to have a migraine headache that night (had it since 11 p.m, the night before) as well as had a fever and legit fell asleep that night around 11 p.m. and when I woke up 3 1/2 hours later my migraine was gone and no longer had a fever.
My husband likes his, he likes a hard pillow. I'm not crazy about it, I find it too heavy. Even with the air out it still sloshes a little. Back in the 90's I had a hybrid waterbed, it was 90% waveless, it didn't slosh, it was SOOOOOO comfy. It was the same concept, it had bolsters around the sides and water in the middle, the water bed also had a fiber type thing inside. We had it and used it for 10 years, we had one leak in those years.
Definitely interested - I feel like it would provide better neck support than most pillows. Most pillows get pushed all the way down by your head so there's nothing under your neck, but this would probably displace the water to go under your neck for support. Incidentally, waterbeds basically worked the same way as this - I had a couple back in the day and really miss them. Good ones had large "dampers" that were essentially padding to keep you from sloshing around, but the water still provided perfect support right where you needed it - it was basically self-correcting support. Air mattress beds like the Sleep Number beds are the closest thing I've found to that feeling.
My hubby has this water pillow (4yrs)BUT we had absolutely no clue what was up with the pillow because we had no clue it was a water pillow until seeing THIS VIDEO..lmao we just thought it was weird having plastic on 1 side of a pillow.. Good to know this whole time it was a water pillow.(4 yrs)
The Mediflow water pillow is actually designed for people who have cervical injuries/pain, or have had brain surgery. The water & the way it moves helps reduce pressure. I have Chiari Malformation and have had 3 brain surgeries at the base of my skull/back of head. I used the water pillow post-OP to help aid recovery. It was a LIFE SAVER! It drastically reduced neck pain and almost completely eliminated migraines. It is an amazing pillow for what it was designed for! Also, to respond to some of the other comments... it doesn't mildew, and the water bladder is extremely durable (even around cats).
Thrilled to hear that our product helped you Marina! Our founder actually created the pillow after suffering from a car accident and suffering with neck pain himself. He found that the responsiveness of the water helped support his neck as he moved through the night.
@@mediflow_waterpillow it really is an amazing pillow for that. A lot of Chiari Malformation sufferers use the water pillow, especially post OP. It is listed on almost every Chiari group/site as a "must have" for post-OP. Who would have thought something so simple as water would make such a huge difference!

Dysons are trash. There was a time when they made decent products, but that's long, long over. Ask pretty much anyone who works on vacuums (and doesn't have a financial stake in selling Dysons). If you want a good vacuum look at Sebo, Miele, or Numatic.
I had one of these just overlooked one thing. Pet owners be ware specially a cat. My cat Hunter took a liking to this pillows cooling but he likes to kneed dough to prep him self the perfect spot to cuddle into. I realized it at bed time and had to couch it that night. Overlooked that possibility but it was a good lesson learned.
What about long term? What are you supposed to do, keep changing the water? You cannot just leave tap water in that pillow. It's going to get stagnant. Does it say anything about how often you have to change the water?
God. I used to love my water filled pillow. Someone eventually poked a hole in it but it was the only way I could sleep for the longest time. That pillow was the best
I got one of those pillows me and my wife do the chiropractor send it to us because we were in a car accident I don't really like it makes me sweat my wife don't like it we don't use them
If you are in Las Vegas and want a cooler effect, try the pillow upside down. If you have trouble with it being too cool, or don't like your skin so close to the plastic, consider a double pillow case or piece of an old blanket or something to act as a small amount of breathable insulation. That might work. I used to have a waterbed years ago. One small problem was oxygen bubbles generated from algae inside. Used to have to put some kind of algaecide in the water to prevent that. Wonder if you might get a few bubbles in a pillow because of this. It was kind of a pain to burp the bubbles from a waterbed when the filler tub attached to the bottom side.
I have that square lamp you have in the back. It was an enormous trouble to assemble, but beautiful in the end. I wouldn't recommend it except to the ultra patient.
I'm back in the early 2000s my mother bought a water pillow she eventually didn't like it but it was so beneficial for babies.. for them to hear the water and feel like they're still in the stomach was a awesome experience for me as a new mother.
Expecting water to cool is folly. Water can transfer the heat away without convection or evaporation. Just like if you put your hand in a 2L bowl of water at 20 C, the water will simply take the heat from your hand/head and increase in temperature until it is at the same temperature of the hand. you would need a cooling device or a wet pillow with air flow to keep cool. Also, as you say, the padding on top of the water will insulate your head from the water so it the water probably takes longer to heat up but that also means you won't feel the effect of cooling due to slower thermal transfer. So, even if you filled it with ice cubes, the coolness may not be that noticeable and only until it has reached the same equilibrium.
You should honestly try a buckwheat pillow. It's like youre sleeping on a soft-ish rock, but it's by far the best pillow for me. No neck pain, no sleep fatigue, hold's it's shape incredibly well and lasts for like 10 years.
When I was a kid I remember my mom bought an actual water pillow like the waterbed but just a pillow with nylon cover without the batting. It's so cool and perfect since we live in a hot and humid area. Too bad it can leak too when not careful.
Water is great at absorbing heat but without a radiator to dissipate the heat the water will just remain warm so if you were to pump the water out and through a radiator and then back into the pillow then you’d have a truly cool pillow that can retain its coolness all night
I went through a period of not sleeping well because the pillow felt too hot. I got a water filled pillow, but it was constructed differently: there was a water bag in the middle and the pillow was a thick casing around it, you'd unzip the side and pull out the bag, fill the bag, put it in, and zip the pillow shut. (So there was no awkward shaking water out of a whole pillow.) It was nice enough, functioned well as a pillow, but the water didn't do that well toward cooling (I could chill the bag of water in the fridge before I went to bed, then it'd be *too* cool and I couldn't sleep), and when it came time to replace the pillow I didn't bother seeking out another of those, I just got a normal pillow. I have two now, the one I use is shredded memory foam (like a MyPillow but much cheaper), and the other is a feather pillow but it's still in the package.
I’ve had this pillow since February and just realized I was using too much water. It was heavy! I could barely move it. I refilled it last night using 2 liters of water and had the best sleep last night. Thanks!
I've had a waterbed since the early 1980's so a water pillow might be a good option for me. BTW you have to get used to sleeping on a waterbed and the firmness is different depending on the amount of water and the fiber layers or baffles if any. If you are a hot sleeper you might want to try a waterbed as you can adjust the amount of heat , if any, that you use so the bed can be quite cool up to about body temperature. Some find they get muscle aches with the heater completely off.
At least it serves a dual purpose for when you are thirsty in the middle of the night.

Same I had one for years and loved it. Also got it from the chiropractor.
Did it have a heater in it or was it cold? Cause i happen to know thats the case with a water bed!
You can use the funnel to screw and unscrew the cap. Also when removing the air, put you hand near the filling hole, you can feel the air escape while pushing down the bottom.
I’ll never understand how you can sleep on just one pillow

We cut it open and it’s basically a regular pillow with a soft plastic bag between the filling like what u get in a camel back
Been sleeping on this pillow for 4 years. It's great for those with neck issues.
How much water did u add? Why my neck is even hurts more😭

"I like weird products and this seems weird to me."

The water isn't meant, necessarily, to keep cool, it's there to help cradle your neck so that it stays in the proper alignment as you sleep :)
I grew up sleeping on waterbeds. I miss them terribly!
You can still get them and the new one's they have out now are why better then the old ones from the 70s and 80s💕
Nothing’s stopping yah, you can still buy them of anywhere.

I have been using one for over 5 years. It was recommended by my Chiropractor, and I love it. My wife doesn't like it so we emptied the water out of it, and she uses it as a normal pillow.
I'm guessing the viewer who recommended this didn't have a cat. Sounds like a recipe for a wet bed!
Good point!
The padding may be thick enough to protect it? Curious
Haha yea I have a rabbit that likes to chew my pillows. This pillow would be a bad idea for anyone with a rabbit too...

I used to love waterbeds so I might like this water pillow.
I used one for several years at the recommendation of my chiropractor. Ended up preferring a king size pillow so switched.

Oh my gosh I was born in 1989 and that clip was insane! That hair was big, man. I gotta say I like the bald head better. :P

No, you can't use water warmer than 36ºc as it would melt the glue that holds the bladder together
This makes me miss my waterbed I had as a kid in the early 2000s. Great review!!
I loved it. I happened to have a migraine headache that night (had it since 11 p.m, the night before) as well as had a fever and legit fell asleep that night around 11 p.m. and when I woke up 3 1/2 hours later my migraine was gone and no longer had a fever.
i would fill it with coffee to make it easier to wake up in the morning
Astronaut, Doctor, Policeman, Fireman, and even a pillow tester! wow!
Who else forgot waterbeds even existed?
*just me? Okay...*

What about long term? What are you supposed to do, keep changing the water? You cannot just leave tap water in that pillow. It's going to get stagnant. Does it say anything about how often you have to change the water?

I always enjoy your videos no matter what you're reviewing. You're very low key, laid back, and easy to listen to and relate to. Thanks, man!
Pillow fights will be a lot more fun.
Since I'm sleeping on my belly this would not work for me because I tend to put one arm under my pillow.
I have that square lamp you have in the back. It was an enormous trouble to assemble, but beautiful in the end. I wouldn't recommend it except to the ultra patient.
This is the first video I have seen from you but you are so chill and positive, I love it.
I'm back in the early 2000s my mother bought a water pillow she eventually didn't like it but it was so beneficial for babies.. for them to hear the water and feel like they're still in the stomach was a awesome experience for me as a new mother.
This pillow would be an ultimate weapon in a pillow fight
Yeah that's cool that it's adjustable
Imagine just waking up from thirst at night and just opening up your pillow to drink water without leaving your bed
I’ve had this pillow since February and just realized I was using too much water. It was heavy! I could barely move it. I refilled it last night using 2 liters of water and had the best sleep last night. Thanks!
My favorite thing to do is to sleep on my side with a thin- medium thin firm pillow and a really soft pillow on top of that
I've had a waterbed since the early 1980's so a water pillow might be a good option for me.
