Apparently there’s a specific day where ROTC students get to wear the uniform.. I started picking up my now girlfriend at the university and saw people in uniform and I was confused as hell. I’m enlisted Air Force so I was like what the hell why are so many military members on campus LOL
A lot of people have been curious about what ROTC is and a typical day in life for me is. This video is to help future recruits and or curious people get a taste on the cadet life. If you enjoyed the video please subscribe and stick around for calisthenics and fitness videos, tutorials etc. to help you become an even better cadet. A lot of stuff coming!
Reserve Officer's Training Corp. In the US Airforce, all officers must have a bachelor's degree in order to commission. ROTC is a way of committing to join the Air Force for a certain number of years (usually 4) when you graduate. In exchange, you learn the leadership and Air Force History lessons as well as attend field training, all of which are requirements for joining the Air Force as an officer outside of ROTC, during your college years. There are also scholarship possibilities and it builds a great community in a club-like setting, all while gaining experience that will help you in and out of the Air Force, professionally and personally.
mya C im currently active duty enlisted in the Marine Corps. If you want a challenge and dont mind getting rain checks frequently, join the Corps. Its much more difficult though. Highly rewarding nonetheless.
Never thought I would've seen Yates here lol... You never know what to expect when watching suggested videos on UA-cam! Greetings from a fellow AS-300 in the University of Puerto Rico. If you do see this comment, tell Yates I'll see him at NATCON!
Thank you for sharing Austin! Im debating whether to do Reserves or ROTC! Great filming though, I appreciate you allowing us an insight into your life! New subscriber :)
#AskAD Not necessarily a question but even though you have those other videos for us to watch, where you show us different routines. I think you should STILL consider doing a video of your routine at the GYM. I think it'd be cool to watch, plus a change of scenery from how you regularly show us routines.
I had no idea you were in AF ROTC as well, and congrats on making C/Capt out fo field training sir! I am a c/3C AS250, and although 250's have bit tighter schedule and a bit more work, your right, pretty laid back. and I know that my det (Det 105) is one of the biggest dets in the nation, DANG your as class was tiny. my as 200 class alone has at least 45 people in it. Any tips on surviving and succeding at field training? (I am going this summer)
Yea our class is small! And really know your warrior knowledge, step up and don't be afraid, don't settle in the background,be heard, and lastly stay positive as the whole situation is temporary.
Hey Austin nice vid, was wondering what college you go to and what job your wanting in the Air Force. I’m a junior in high school wanting to join as well. Thanks again!
Whats up Austin!? Just wanted to start off by saying thank you for this video. I learned alot. I wanted to get some advice from you, I'm a 25 year old (26 in july) and just recently had a crazy urge to follow in my fathers footsteps and join the Air Force. Although I wanted to go in as an officer, so obviously I need a degree first. My question I guess is this, would you say I'm making the right choice for my age as far as going back to school and enrolling in AFROTC? Or would I find myself struggling to get into it or standing out? Ill be honest, I slacked off the last year of high school so I didnt graduate with the greatest of GPA's, I wanna say I was around 3.1 GPA but I'll have to wait and see what my transcript says. I planned on getting in and just busting my ass, studying hard, partying less etc. I'm confident that I can get a solid GPA in my normal classes and willing to go the extra mile to do what I can. Is ROTC hard to get into like do I gotta be a competitive candidate? I was thinking if I could get in my first year, then I was confident I could get great grades in the first 2 years, would that be enough time to really prove myself and get selected for a 3/4th year to be commissioned?
Hey I just watched all of ur videos and I’m happy for your new journey!! I’m going join afrotc in this fall as AS100 Since you left the afrotc while you were in the poc, did you get any obligation??
Austin, do you have any colleagues in AFROTC that are aspiring pilots? What does a person have to do in AFROTC (besides the stellar grades and eyesight) to have a very good shot at acquiring a pilot slot? Great vid man
Yo Austin next time you post another video, can you do a video of high/explosive pull ups tutorial because i can do a 13 pull ups but i don't have a strength for get my chest over the bar? thanks dude.
Hi, I have a question. So I’m a sophomore in high school, and I’ve been contemplating about careers for quite some time now. My goal is to become an Air Force pilot. So does it matter whether I do ROTC or the Academy, or will both lead me down the right path. I wanted to go in as an officer rather than enlisted
What college do you attend again lol I couldn’t understand ? But I’m a senior in high soo ready to do ROTC in college as well thank you for he videos ❤️💜
ROTC - 4 year process to become an officer. Officers lead the enlisted. Officers = captains, majors, colonels, generals etc. Also of course the pay difference is huge. Enlisting- All you need is a high school degree. Come in at the bottom of the barrel usually. Think of enlisted as employees working in the store and officers in the corporate building.
Mr. megashot47 Depends on the route to becoming a commissioned officer u want to take all the Branches but the Marines have 3 routes and they are the service academy, ROTC, and OCS/OTS. The Marines have those 3 routes plus one more the PLC. U can google how to get into those 4 routes. Also just some fair warning if u have a medical condition and u know it doesn't effect u than don't tell ur recruiter. I did that and I waited over a year (Air Force) just to be told that I'm PDQ.
Do you think having a full time job while doing ROTC will be doable? I am thinking about doing ROTC but I want to see if i would be able to do that and work at the same time. And if you want to live on campus how competitive is the list to be accepted for the dorm scholarship? Thank you!
I can't wait to be in college in AFROTC. I haven't submitted my fitness test yet. Will I be in ROTC in college if I didn't? Is it true that you have to run a 6 minute mile to pass the PT test? I haven't done that since I was 11..... I'm a senior in high school now.
Eddie Rosario i have a question. I want to be a fighter pilot but I don’t want to be a reserve pilot. I want it as a career. With this you graduate with a bachelors degree and becoming an officer?
So I really want to join the AFROTC I went to a military school for 3 years of high school. But what are the first steps I take so I can get into the Air Force ROTC?
Once you finish the 4 years of training, do you have to commit to 10 years of being a pilot? (which is what I want to do to build up hours to join the airlines), or can I choose 4 years as a pilot. I'm trying to make a decision to either build up hours as a CFI, or join the ROTC Air Force.
So I am going to enter Air Force ROTC this semester, do you have any tips or pointers for a first year? and also I am African American can you tell me how ROTC works with hair and ect?
Hey I am 12 y/o and I can do 20 pull-ups and 90 push-ups but still can't do a muscle up I'm starting to give up unless I can get some advice pls reply Austin
Austin Dunham If you join ROTC, take the 4 year scholarship, do you go to boot camp for the Air Force? Also can you still do college as an officer in the US air force? Also are turbans and beard allowed now in the US army since I am a member of the Sikh faith? Thank u, I know lots of questions but it is a big decision in my life
Im intrested in airforce rotc and was wondering if it continued into summer break or just went through the school year and you get a normal summer break. Ive heard of the summer training and didn't know if it was optional or required and if it is how long is the training each year
How many times in the week do u meet for rotc classes and what if u have to go to another college to take them. Do they have night classes because my only option would be night classes?
Just pick the people you hangout with and places to party very wisely. Getting into bar fights (they can happen), a DUI and other stuff related to irresponsible alcohol use will follow you around, especially when you go to get a security clearance.
If partying is a priority in your life, enough to ask, then you really should think twice before joining ROTC. It's okay to have fun, it just shouldn't be something that defines who you are.
Austin Dunham hey bro I'm a second semester FTP cadet but I'm not on scholarship. If you don't mind me asking, how much do contracted POC cadets (non scholarship) get for their monthly stipend?
There are a few opportunities to get scholarships or tuition assistance with ROTC, and they are all pretty limited in availability. If you are in JROTC in high school, it is possible to get a 4 year scholarship, but these are darn hard to get. Also, after your sophomore year, when you got to field training, you can apply for a scholarship that will pay tuition (and maybe books? but not board) that will cover your college until you graduate. Other than those, no, you have to pay for college yourself.
Apparently there’s a specific day where ROTC students get to wear the uniform.. I started picking up my now girlfriend at the university and saw people in uniform and I was confused as hell. I’m enlisted Air Force so I was like what the hell why are so many military members on campus LOL
us military recruiters are always scouting for fresh recruits on campuses
why am i watching this I'm already 2 years into the Air Force
A lot of people have been curious about what ROTC is and a typical day in life for me is. This video is to help future recruits and or curious people get a taste on the cadet life.

I'm a marine ROTC cadet and from what you said, they are VERY different. Btw, I have the same backpack that you put in your car
X ike X was it different in a good way or bad. I’m trying to decide whether to join the marine or air force rotc
mya C im currently active duty enlisted in the Marine Corps. If you want a challenge and dont mind getting rain checks frequently, join the Corps. Its much more difficult though. Highly rewarding nonetheless.
You can’t join Marine Corps ROTC as it is not a thing, you’d join Navy ROTC and then commission into the marines
@@joeltagge1181 no there is a marine option for nrotc
Favorite UA-camr so far.
Thank you :D!
I love that you made this video I’m a senior in high school and currently in JROTC ready to be in ROTC in college 💙💙

Hey Austin, first off, great video ! Keep them coming! And I just have one question why did you decide to join ROTC ?
Omg I didn't know you had Rotc!!
Yo Austin next time you post another video, can you do a video of high/explosive pull ups tutorial because i can do a 13 pull ups but i don't have a strength for get my chest over the bar? thanks dude.
Daniel Karrat You should just keep trying to do them, pull yourself up as fast as you and keep doing that. it took me about a week to be able to them
You should vlog more often
Terren Patton agreed
Hi, I have a question. So I’m a sophomore in high school, and I’ve been contemplating about careers for quite some time now. My goal is to become an Air Force pilot. Austin Dunham bro, I talked to someone about joining my GPA is above a 90, I was told I'd go straight to officer training. how does this work?
would I still have to go to basic training? how hard is it? what should I do to get prepared for the training?
also , is this a full life career or can it be short term?
Mr. megashot47 Depends on the route to becoming a commissioned officer u want to take all the Branches but the Marines have 3 routes and they are the service academy, ROTC, and OCS/OTS. The Marines have those 3 routes plus one more the PLC. U can google how to get into those 4 routes.

This is an amazing video! I plan to join ROTC when I get to college next year. Do I have to be able to pass a fitness test to join?
Once you get in yes.
I know once I'm in I'll have to pass one. But do I have to pass one to gain entry into the program?
I’m kind of wanting to commission in the Air Force. What will happen if I graduate from rotc?
What guard size is your hair on the top and the sides? It's looked mad clean.
Do you have to go to “salute school” before being a commissioned officer? Assuming that you did ROTC all throughout college.
I can't wait to be in college in AFROTC. I haven't submitted my fitness test yet. Will I be in ROTC in college if I didn't? Is it true that you have to run a 6 minute mile to pass the PT test? I haven't done that since I was 11..... I'm a senior in high school now.
1.5 mile run :) females must do it in 15 minute I believe
oh ok that's more reasonable thanks *****
my daughter is a first year at UoO and she wants to do the AF not the Army...is that possible?
Question: do you enlist after rotc
In general what do you do after rotc ends lol
Dawt Kom after rotc you wouldn’t enlist, if you make it through you would commission as an officer
Eddie Rosario i have a question. I want to be a fighter pilot but I don’t want to be a reserve pilot. I want it as a career. With this you graduate with a bachelors degree and becoming an officer?
The Man yea so once you complete your 4 years in college and in rotc you would be active duty
Eddie Rosario don’t u need to go thru UPT?
So I'm starting AFROTC in the fall but I also want to rush a fraternity. It looks from this video there would be enough time for both?
So I really want to join the AFROTC I went to a military school for 3 years of high school. But what are the first steps I take so I can get into the Air Force ROTC?
Whata that pin on ur abu collar? Why does it look different on other cadets they have an arrow

Fraud.

I am JROTC cadet and I am private E-2 currently a Raider and I am Army JROTC and I wonder what is air force training like
Are you not allowed to wear the uniforms until after field training?
+Dave Banner for my school
Austin Dunham If you join ROTC, take the 4 year scholarship, do you go to boot camp for the Air Force? Also can you still do college as an officer in the US air force? Also are turbans and beard allowed now in the US army since I am a member of the Sikh faith? Thank u, I know lots of questions but it is a big decision in my life
You do not go to boot camp
Are the classes for AFROTC only during summer? Or do they coexist with your regular college classes?
Matthew Citty They're held during the semester along with your other classes.
I have the same dresser at 0:54
Penn State DET 720🔥 Bar Brothers All Day Every Day💪🏽SALUTE!
Awesome bro!
Would you have to have a job while doing school and ROTC to pay bills like car insurance and all? I couldn't really find much info on that
Im intrested in airforce rotc and was wondering if it continued into summer break or just went through the school year and you get a normal summer break. Ive heard of the summer training and didn't know if it was optional or required and if it is how long is the training each year
How many times in the week do u meet for rotc classes and what if u have to go to another college to take them. Do they have night classes because my only option would be night classes?
can you still party as an rotc?
Yes but drink legally
Just pick the people you hangout with and places to party very wisely. Getting into bar fights (they can happen), a DUI and other stuff related to irresponsible alcohol use will follow you around, especially when you go to get a security clearance.
If partying is a priority in your life, enough to ask, then you really should think twice before joining ROTC. It's okay to have fun, it just shouldn't be something that defines who you are.
Yes. Yes you can. Source- ROTC grad currently an Air Force LT.
So after you graduate college with your bachelors what happens to your civilian career ?
how far do you stay away from your camp? or how long is the drive?
btw, whats your height and weight?
Thanks for the videos xoxo
only 5 min. And go find that answer :) lol
hey i'm gonna go into rotc i'm a senior rn and i was wondering do you still have to go to bmt after you finish rotc?
I love calisthenics and I love U.S.Air Force like you bro ahaha, but I'm Italian! So are you going to be an Air Force pilot? :)
Only 1% of Air Force is Piloting, most likely not.
I'm thinking about joining the Air Force and being a mwd and going in as an officer how would I do that?
youtube gamer Need a degree to be an officer in the military.
Or go to the service academy.
Hey are you in school on a ROTC scholarship? If so could you explain it a bit more? Thank you.
No Im not. lol . Once you pass Field Training you get a monthly stipend though.
Austin Dunham hey bro I'm a second semester FTP cadet but I'm not on scholarship. If you don't mind me asking, how much do contracted POC cadets (non scholarship) get for their monthly stipend?
That belt is giving me a fucking heart attack
Hey super late comment but just wondering what college you went to?
Can you do a video about Field Training?
Hey quick question, as an officer in the Air Force can you pick your job or are you selected for a job like other branches? Thank you
You choose your job
How much running do you guys do during PT
What job do you plan on having in the Air Force?
I'm just curious what are majoring in college Austin?
Are any of your fellow cadets prior enlisted? I'm trying to get some information on making the transition
Eric Rotolo we have 3 in our ROTC unit.
do they financially help you if you're in an ROTC, like with tuition and books?
There are a few opportunities to get scholarships or tuition assistance with ROTC, and they are all pretty limited in availability. If you are in JROTC in high school, it is possible to get a 4 year scholarship, but these are darn hard to get. Also, after your sophomore year, when you got to field training, you can apply for a scholarship that will pay tuition (and maybe books? but not board) that will cover your college until you graduate. Other than those, no, you have to pay for college yourself.
He nailed it. Once you become a junior and complete field training you get a monthly stipend.
what helicopter were you flying in at the end?
Theo Dunnett probably a Huey or Blackhawk
Huey
When do you get to go home to your parents throughout the Semester's?
what was your gpa throughout your schooling? when did you start, was it right out of high school?
2.9 - 3.3 and yes
How many classes are required to take with AFROTC
No lie usa should make a military academy school for kids from 10 years of age and go to school for 10 years
How many people out of your class usually get selected for field training?
What career field are you hoping to go into? Pilot?
what is the name of the song at 45s?
What kind of AFROTC scholarship did you get?
damn dude, i am doing afrotc in college, i am currently in high school, and teach me how to get ripped like that xD
More!
