In enjoy how raw and authentic this video felt
Thank you! That was exactly my goal in making it.
@BMcBride Normally I'm a fan of flashy edits and such but this made me feel like I was going along on this trip.
Totally. I left a lot of the fluff in that I would normally cut and didn’t rely on just a drone to create it.
Truthfully, it was one of the more difficult videos I’ve had to put together as I fought against the GoPro footage. But I’m pleased with how raw it turned out.
Absolutely, loved this style. Felt like we were right there with you.
We got so tired of problems with our GoPros. Lockups, lost footage, overheating, etc. When we switched to the DJI Osmo Actions, we never had problems again. Now we use an Action 3, an Action 4, and a Pocket 3 and we never have issues anymore.
We love our Action 3, too! Plus, the DJI mics.
It was a fun raw, real ride-along on a fun trail. I enjoyed it! A lot of people dont get to see what its all about with all the editing. The drone footage always gets me too. Stunning!
Thanks J
Justin I'm loving the Localander series. Feels authentic and relatable. Keep up the good work
I've become more and more skeptical of YTers recently because I am just burnt out from the hollywood editing, sponsor plugs, and unattainable 1m builds. Justin, so far seems to be down to earth. I hope he doesn't fall the way of Expedition Overland.
Such a great setup Justin, been wanting to get a rooftop tent but been laying my seats down and sleeping in the back in the meantime!
4x4 colorado makes an awesome RTT. great video!
Loved the come along with feel. The lack of background music and conversational style felt less like a presentation and more like a memory or a trip with a friend. A very cool video!
Good to see you in a full sized rig again. Curious what you're doing for HAM. Any chance we might see a HAM video, going over the basics, for offroading?
4x4 Colorado has that rtt with a diesel heater port which is awesome but I can’t find the bracket they have in their pic for the heater itself to rest on. I’ll pull the credit card out the min I find it.
Appreciate the honesty of this video. Can't say I enjoyed this one, but can't say you enjoyed it either. Sh*t happens I guess, not every trip can be epic. I think Ted said once that if every night is legendary, then no night is legendary
This one was rough.
The Go Gast type setups justbseem perfect for the Gladiator.
Same with the GoPro's man. They used to be really good. They randomly shut off. They shut off because they are overheating even though they are sitting in the air conditioned car or mounted to the exterior of the car in cooler temps. DJI and Insta360 make a good product.
Hey Justin! Loved the adventure, and know it's not your usual style, nor will it be going forward. Definitely appreciate the content! I did have a question, you mentioned "100ft from water" when camping... I don't know what you really meant by that... Like to avoid the moisture? The bugs? Just curious what you meant by that. Thanks again!!
Good stuff. And FYI - I've never had any issues with the DJI Osmo action 3/4. Might be an option to look into.
I’m very much interested in the new Osmo Action or the fancy new 8K Insta360 thing.
For now, I know I’m off GoPro. That’s a fact.
I can empathize with your GoPro issues. I bought a GoPro Max and that has never overheated on me. But my GoPro 10’s overheat on me all the time and usually right when I need to capture video of what I am doing!
It’s the worst! I used to love this triple camera setup, but now I can’t stand it.
Goof timing for the 4X4 Colorado RTT. I’ve been eyeballing one, and plan on stopping by their shop while in Denver in a couple of weeks. Keep rockin! 🤘
If you pick one up, I think the code MCBRIDE will save you some cash.
@@JustinBMcBride code is no good, did you break ties with them?
@@WarthogOverland no, they told me that they never turned off the sale after Black Friday so codes don’t work. 🤷♂️
@@JustinBMcBride damn, the boss (wife) is putting me on a tight budget. I've been pushing her on 4X4 C but getting push back and getting swayed to go UnPlug SL
Footage of those Allen boots going in is so s m o o t h
That’s a big ol brick on the later half of the gladiator.
That said… I love that I could take the top off and still have a structurally hard RTT system.
Good video Justin, nice to watch you out on an adventure. I have the 4x4 Colorado Alto Elite, very well made tent just waiting on my air mattress from 4x4. By the way, some of the affiliate links appear to be broken.
Oh - any specific link? I can look into them.
@@JustinBMcBride Hi Justin, the toilet didn't work for me or the EDC pouch and knife
@@terryhundley8992 good to know. I’m on a flight right now, but I’ll look into these! Thanks for the reply!
How do you like the scrub blades?
I'm curious as well.
I'm mosty likely going to get the Insta360 Ace Pro for my action cameras. I have the same distain fro GoPro.
Great video
nice mate, no judgement all tents are a pain, esp with a ladder at that angle
Saw that there were a couple people with the colorado 4x4. Do you know if any couples slept in the clamshell style tent by 4x4?
I use GoPro’s for all the footage on my channel. I have experienced overheating problems when I’m recording long segments of video. It’s my understanding that action cameras were designed for short bursts of video. They weren’t designed to capture content the same way a camcorder would. I avoid the overheating issue by being more selective on what I record. It works well for me by decreasing memory requirements and how much I need to edit. However, I do miss content by filming this way.
Colorado is bad on drones. Mine somehow went thousands of feet across a gorge in a couple of seconds by Silverton 😢
The Tik Tok comparison had me laughing so hard!!!
how do you like the RTT over the camper? sorry TLDR lol
I’m a camper guy, but if I were looking at a tent/bedrack system, I’d look at this style tent. It’s super roomy but I love the camper too much.
I think you are saying it right.. LocalLander is 95% of the market..... as far as the RTT... Nope, for me.. I'm either inside the truck (LC200) or in a GTT lol.... keep the Vids coming, and keep it real :)
curious the height of the Xtr rack?
Try out the Super Pacific next. It’s way higher quality than the GFC.
Too similar. I’d rather try the Alucab or an AT next.
I'm sick of gopro too =( I want to like them but they're getting frustrating to operate.
BTW NICE TURTLEBACK TRAILER!
Thanks. We love it
Authentic 😎
great ,Jutin,
Thank you!
Hey Justin! John in NY. Great video. I enjoyed the journey and the Obligations parts did not feel overly obligated. Drone looks like it touched down and got blown off as the sensors registered completed landing. UGH! Drone shot audio fills? Your better then this. I think you need to watch some of your old videos. Passion hunting is needed every once in a while. Any Big plans on the calendar for 2024? Come East.
Landing in Florida for the SAVE Expo in 30 minutes. Does that count?
And about drone audio, eh. I hated every minute of this video and reliving it while editing grew tedious so I ported it and published it. Life isn’t always polished and done is better than perfect.
@@JustinBMcBride You are still AWESOME and GENUINE!
Oh i wish I had a garage that big 😢
At 45: in.. That GoPro Media Mod is total Junk!! Mine would lock up all the time. Threw it in the trash. Great Video though!
I’m done with GoPro. Toying between the new Insta360 and a DJI Action 4. Leaning Action 4 because it’s $100 cheaper.
I Like the video but I am wonder how you felt about it compaired to the trails that you run in Utah. To me it seamed like it was not as fun for you as the stuff I normaly see from you when you are running Utah trails. It seamed to me that the trails run slower too. Also are you testing diffrent RTT or looking for something to replace the Go Fast? As always still better then a day in the office.
this is a dope video. Just to leave it running on a secondary monitor while I get work done. the loud sounds at 36:00 i did not care for at all tho
Yeah - missed that when leveling audio. My bad.
How demoralizing would it be to get all the way thru the gnarliest trails, over some big rock obstacles and feel so proud of yourself and your truck, feeling so accomplished only to find a friggin' Tesla at the end. Hahaha that would suck so bad.
U had to stuck with ther older go pro ( 8 and 5) gopro 8 seems to be the best one iv had that works well
These are Hero 9s. Not the latest and greatest - well, definitely not the greatest.
@JustinBMcBride ya im honestly thinking about switching as well for the same reason gopro needs to change something dji and insta cameras are comeing up fast
When was this? You're in shorts and t-shirt here, but that area(ish) is all in the snow right now.
I think was in July. I’ve been sitting on it while I continued the fight against GoPro footage and working to recover some lost clips because the GoPro really let me down on this trip and then continued to haunt me.
Next time we need to stay there for more then one night
Yeah, that’ll make that LOOOONG trail worth it.
Where was "there"?
Miss the bronco at all?
GoPro’s suck. Used to use them when I rode motorcycles. Nothing but trouble with them. So much lost footage. 🤬🤬
Was kind of an awkward video, it seemed like you signed a deal with these guys to promote their products, but didn’t really enjoy it or want to do it. Felt very forced for me.
Interesting take. No deal. I was helping them film some videos for their website. The trip didn’t play out exactly how I imagined and 80% of it turned out to be crummy GoPro footage.
I feel ya though. I’ve had this video sitting since summer when I shot it not knowing how I would present it. Ultimately, I decided to release it “as is” no fluff or added falsehoods. Just the raw experience.
I get that it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, I can’t even say that it’s mine. But it’s up and sometimes done is better than perfect.
@@JustinBMcBride Although you are 1000 times more successful than my channel, so I guess I can’t really critique you 😂
I loved it that’s my kind of camping
Denver and I70 are truly the worst
Hourly check in sure makes you sound like you are hating the slow rocky trails. If that’s not your cup of tea why build a capable rig? Most of your vids are just dirt roads which the JTR is overkill for even in stock form 😂
Ah yeah!
