Are you kidding? Intermediate, advanced level? NO - insanely difficult for most of us, but not for you. I'm in awe of your talent, thank you for posting your beautiful arrangements!
I'm right handed. So I put my left hand behind my back to see if I could play the song. It really wasn't that hard. I was also able to pause it and replay it - all with that same hand behind my back. I bet with a little practice I could hit that play button using only my left hand.
Ah kids today! In my era we had to wind the gramophone by hand, & carefully place the needle onto a groove. Replacing the disc was definitely a two hand operation. It certainly kept us fit, & obesity levels were much lower than today as a result.
I searched high and low for the book featured on his website, but the English version seems to be sold out permanently. The Japanese site doesn't ship internationally, and this song is not available for PDF download. Luckily, I have a nephew working in Japan who was able to purchase it for me! I'm pleased to find out that the transcription is an accurate note-for-note representation of the original. This is my favorite arrangement so far. Before discovering this, Joey Alexander's version was my favorite. I would classify this arrangement as advanced. 👍👏Thanks for sharing your genius talent with the world, Jacob Koller!

Jazz feels like the art of making off-key notes/chords sounds perfect. All over it makes you wonder if it's right just to find out it's actually better.
There's a science to it, largely based on b9 chords and poly tonal chords based on diminished chords. The art is putting together with a sense of taste.
I just have one question for you Jacob, hopefully I get an answer this time. How long does it take you to practice and what's your most helpful tip for left hand dexterity...any exercises you have in mind? I hope you know this means I've been following your work for years and it always amazes me.
I practice a couple of hours a day right now. I didn't really practice many exercises other than scales. But I spent a lot of time improvising with my LH which is why I think I have decent dexterity with my LH. So I would improvise with your LH a lot and try playing the Charlie Parker Omnibook or something similar with your LH.
So beautiful!! I'm so happy I discovered your channel, searching for a Moon River arrangement. So inspiring....I wish you would write also for violin,I would buy that right away, would love to play one of your arrangements!! An insanely difficult arrangement for violin or violin and piano.
I've been working with a violinst and I will eventually notate some of the arrangements I've done with her. ua-cam.com/channels/tZrfbl8UvRLxLGrgLjCXew.html
Thanks, that's great.I was thinking more like a crazy difficult jazz arrangement for violin and piano, similar to your solo piano ones, almost impossible to play. The majority with violin are always pretty easy to play.I found none in UA-cam impressive, technically challenging, that's why I thought about that. The first one coming from the Mad Arranger :)
I'd go for advanced. Definitely easier than your Versions of Rondo Alla Turca, Pink Panther and Englishman in New York😉 However, your runs in the left hand can be quite challenging! Thanks for sharing this wonderful arrangement!😍
@@JacobKollerMusic Damn, Jacob and Joshiano, you have to play a duet! That would be epic! The backwards and upside-down Piano skills of Joshiano and your Jazz skills, just MIND-BLOWING!

That sound at 2:31 is incredibly beautiful! Sounds magical! I just want to tell you that I really love listening to your music, and heavily respect all of the work that you put into making these videos. For me, this arrangement would be very challenging, but very much in the realms of possibility. I find that when people start making incredibly difficult music, like Liszt, Paganini, all of those virtuosos, I find, to an extent, that their music becomes alienating with no clear direction due to all of the things they add to their music for the sole purpose of making it more difficult. Cool to watch people play these pieces, but in my opinion, not very fun to listen to. Your music is perfect for me, because it is something that challenges me, but it is still very enjoyable to listen to. I love your music!! Hope that answers your question
Fingering...hand separation...timing...runs...yeah, pretty much everything insanely difficult...but definitely a motivation to keep improving to at least be the best I can be...bravo, maestro!
What an awesome arrangement! I guess I would rank it as advanced, just shy of insanely difficult. (At least I hope it turns out that way when I start working on it. ;) ) I love how you switch between 3/4 and 7/4 time. That's so cool! And I dig section K, where the left hand gets his own solo! Just like a bass player. Another thing I enjoy is all the rhythmic variety. It makes it so interesting. Like occasionally there's the dotted 1/8s in the 3/4 section, which makes it sound like 4 beats instead of 3. Thanks for posting this video!
I heard little hints of so many of my favorite players in this. McCoy Tyner here, Bill Evans there... and yet it is unique. I'm glad I clicked. Just subscribed.
As usual Mr Koller this is incredible. Your style of solo jazz piano is both new and unique while taking heavily from the LA jazz tradition I live it as always keep up the great work! I'm especially a fan of all the incredibly clean tritone subs and rhythmic hemeolas. Can't wait for more!
This is insanely amazing. Would be even better if someone can play drums on top of this incredibly rhythmically complex rendition of My Favorite Things.
Could I arrange and play your arrangement of the Pink Panthere for two violins? I wont write any score, I will only play it directly on my youtube channel and add a link to your piano score. Is that ok with you? Thanks.
I've been playing this standard for 44 years, originally taken in by the minor ninths from McCoy and the opportunities for embellishments. But I never thought of working in the left hand runs and chordal movements the way you have and find it very exhilarating and liberating. It's like drawing from the left side of the brain. Great, great work and good luck to you!
