Thankfully Elmo's dad, Louie, moderates his account for him. Elmo is 3 years old and can't read. His dad types up what Elmo wants to say and reads the responses to him. His dad would have filtered out the existential crisis content. So really, everyone traumatized Louie.
@@carenasmith7 Elmo and Louie were interviewed by Gayle King and the two guys (The Pips?) last week. It was an adorable interview and Louie explained that he reads all of Elmo's Twitter stuff since Elmo is only three and a half (for the past 40 years).
I once got a "how's things?" from the guy checking me out at CVS. I just shook my head. The guy said, "Smile, it can't be that bad." I lost it and said "I just came from the hospital because my father died."
I worked as a waitress once and we had a very “difficult” person as cashier. No one could get along with her. She was so bad that we just ignored her. Once I noticed that she was talking to herself while doing an order. Something told me to ask her “how was she doing?”, so I did. She said “no, I actually am not doing alright” and she just looked at me with her eyes full misery that could fill the whole world, and again for some reason I asked “how so?”, and we proceeded to have the most heart wrenching conversation I’ve ever had. Turned out she was a medical student, an intern in local hospital, and recently she saw a very young woman that was brutally R*ped, so much so, that her organs were all messed up. I was stunned just listening. She couldn’t get over seeing it. I imagine she didn’t have anybody to talk to about it, noone who’d just listen. After that things improved, but she left shortly after. You never know what a person who is rude to you is going through. I wonder if she became a nurse or a doctor, but I could never be one. Those folks need nerves of steel.
She was talking about herself. Was just glad that she could finally confide in someone about before planning her real next steps. You could have very well prevented that poor young girl’s suicide.
Maybe they should stop bitching about being cancelled and start being funny again That is if they were ever funny to begin with, I have no solutions for Bill Maher unfortunately
It's because his jokes don't involve ONLY punching at other people and these are situations we all hear about, so it makes him a much better comedian than someone who sits around trying to be edgy
I go to a doctor's appointment. The receptionist says "how are you?". The aide taking my history says "how are you?". The technician taking my blood pressure says "how are you?". "Bad enough to need a doctor, obviously!" is how I want to answer.
I am usually very upbeat and bubbly (which is weird considering I am extremely introverted), so when I arrive at my doctor's office, I answer honestly how I'm doing, but in a cheerful voice. If you didn't know me, it might be confusing. Them: "Hey there, Braxstine. How are you today?" Me: "Chile, I'm pretty sure I died on the way here so you may want to check my pulse quickly!"
I was walking home while listening this. 10/10 do not recommend. I was trying to stifle my laughter during the Elmo bit and ended up audibly snorting and wheezing. This lady crossed the street with her kid to get away 😂😂😂
i was on a walk around my neighborhood doing this, trying not to laugh like a lunatic all by myself LOL. i knew then that i'd just hafta save these for home LOL
I think Elmo being so sweet and wholesome and part of many of our pasts was the perfect key to unlock all of this. Honestly, people might have needed it.
This is the highest level of aggressive energy I’ve seen Josh have his comedic range is wild. His delivery is always great whether silly, deadpan, dry, high energy he can do it all.
There was a post on tiktok about a womans car catching fire and the car was unrecognizable she was crying; she ipened her car door and the only thing survived was her stanely cup in prestine condition still in the cup holder. Stanley reached out to her bought her more cups and a new car andnthats what basically sparked this whole Stanley Cup situation.
The weird thing about that story though is that the plastic parts weren't melted. Like not even the straw. I'm not saying it is impossible, just kinda sus.
@cristyablad I noticed that as well but I didn't question it... I didn't know it it was plastic or painted but the straw not melted is definitely suspicious
My favorite part of the whole Elmo thing was a few hours later when the Sesame Street twitter account posted a Mental health PSA as a response to Elmo. My favorite "you get what you ask for" since Microsoft wanted to ask how people "Edge"
0:37 love how he barely eases the audience into it before immediately yelling about elmo like a disappointed teacher coming back to see the comments the sub left about a rowdy class
A Gaggle. I overheard a friend calling a group of White women a 'gaggle', like a gaggle of geese. They never gave an explanation as to why either. Just said that it felt right.
I just gotta put this out there. Maybe we need so much mental healthcare BECAUSE its not socially acceptable to tell each other honestly how we're doing? Maybe if we actually took the time to listen to each other, we'd all actually be mentally healthier? I don't actually know if this is the answer, but I sometimes wonder.
I'm one of those people that strangers feel like they can tell their business to just randomly. There's a lot of stuff that we can and should be able to talk to each other about. There's a lot of stuff that people need to be able to talk to a mental health provider about.
@@bec7080 , I understand that sometimes it's frustrating when a complete stranger starts vomiting their feelings onto you, especially when you're in a hurry and just trying to get your groceries and get home or whatever. In fact I've had moments when I feel highly uncomfortable because somebody comes up to me and just starts sharing stuff with me and I feel seriously awkward and have no idea how to respond to that, but I honestly try my best to just listen. I can totally see both sides to this whole thing, but mental healthcare isn't cheap and in my area it's extremely difficult to even get in to see a mental healthcare care professional. They're literally booking 3 to 6 months in advance. So instead of being able to see someone in afew days or next week, you have to wait 3 to 6 months! ☹️
Sure, but there is a time and place for everything. People have boundaries that we don't know. We can't assume what topics are safe for others to hear, and we can't assume that they were okay or CONSENTED to hear that information in the first place. Yes, we as a society are struggling mentally, but the first step isn't telling someone your entire life struggle. It's a lot more nuanced than that. What needs to happen is to allow more accessable safe spaces for people to vent, but not on the Internet. The Internet makes us feel isolated and forces us to see a very small window of people's lives with very little context. The Internet has become a very strong source of filtered bullshit with little honesty. This is going to sound awful and really pretentious, but I swear stepping outside and getting off your phones helps you learn how to 1) process your struggles without the opinions and influence of the internet, 2) Not be as paranoid of the world around you, and 3) helps you become selfish with context. What I mean is that you learn to become more aware of what helps you and what self-care is for you, and helps you become more aware of others. What that looks like is something similar to this quick dialogue conversation: A: How're you doing today? B: Eh, could be better A: I'm sorry to hear that, I hope things get a little easier for you Or something similar to that. As a society, we do need more empathy, but that isn't going to happen when we radically trauma dump to everyone we talk to. It's going to create more anger, loneliness, frustration, and other issues. Like everything in life, black and white rarely exists. Finding a middle ground is important to making real growth
@@mage4423 , there are also mentally ill people who don't understand boundaries and they probably never will. If we reject or ignore those people because of our own boundaries then we're isolating and hurting them. You're very correct that things aren't black and white, but there are lots of gray areas, so having too many strict boundaries could potentially be a mental illness in itself. All I'm saying is, if listening to someone vomit their feelings helps them from striking out in a dangerous and hurtful way, then maybe that's the least we can do for each other. Again, I clearly don't know the answer to this, but I sometimes wonder if all this violence lately is related to people being lonely and feeling unheard?
just got a disability that affects his mobility probably, could be having any kind of life. (josh is hilarious this isnt a diss or anything just thoughts)
Man. You wield silence like a scalpel. You let the moment breathe just long enough, like you knew a "distraught laugh" was coming. High tension, shared catharsis even? Aight, I'mma press play now. 😌🥃
The first bit gave me traumatic flashbacks to my first full-time job. TWO of my coworkers (one joined us after the other got fired) loved to trauma-dump on everyone. And I was forced to work alone with one of them for two whole months. I do not regret quitting that job without any notice.
I see Stanley Cup and I think of Lord Stanley and so when did all these women get into hockey? Did Taylor Swift start dating a hockey player? Those things look ridiculous.
As a white man on behalf of white women I really don't think we or they accept them. I've decided to refer to them as "Stanley people" or "Stans" for short
I haven't had one yet, and with those, the price won't ever have one. I'm good with my 9 to 12 dollar metal ones. As a woman, I lug around enough shit(for my kid) already without adding on a giant cup to the mix. If they bully her for not having one, she fight back lol because yeah no.
The only kid aimed thing I’ve seen that attempts to address the world sucking is the “everything’s not awesome” song from Lego movie 2. And as an adult it was kind of what I needed at the time, not sure how kids took it.
Wasn’t saying kids dont know, was saying i personally havent seen anything aimed at them that actually acknowledges in a way that can offer an actual rebuttal and different perspective on that fact.
Oh, kids already know. Kids are the ones that the world effs up the most. Adults are all concerned with teaching us, but we know - it's our experience. Stop sucking - that'd be great (this isn't aimed at you in particular, just adults in general)
This man comes up with new content faster than anyone I've ever seen. There's a huge difference between just hosting a podcast and talking to someone and doing a polished stand-up set of this quality. If this guy doesn't become a household name soon it's a tragedy.
Nailed it, bro. We are so lonely and desperate for someome to listen to us that a puppet from our childhood damn near broke X. How sad is that? In this age where everyone is connected people are more isolated than ever before in history.
My earliest experience of grief was hearing that Jim Henson died on the news - 5yo me absolutely lost it ugly crying - not sure how much I understood about death then, but I knew that it might mean no more Muppets or Sesame Street. Then as an adult I found Jim Henson's funeral on UA-cam & more ugly crying.
@@nasiamorgan Not trapped, just living the slow, banal, collapse of civilization. People think it will be all fire and brimstone, when actually it's more like a slow, rotting, decay where our greed, self-interest, and hate, slowly grind over our positive characteristics. Hot Take: The Rapture happened in 2012, but nobody realized it, because it didn't happen the way THEY THOUGHT IT WOULD. Now all that's left are the ones who can never be saved or the ones who got saved too little too late, and now we gotta wait for Judgment Day to find out if we go to Heaven or not.

I feel the coworker part so hard. I was going on my 10 minute break and saw a coworker with a cane. I made the mistake of asking him how he was and i for so much detail then i every wanted. I knew about all the doctor visits and everything. Took up my whole 10 minutes.
I remember when Steve from Blues Clues just popped back up on us, boy Steve had me really crying and talking how we went from kids to adults like 0 to 100 real quick. 😂
I walked into a bank once and heard the middle of a conversation between a customer and the teller. The customer was telling her why she had to move her money-her boyfriend was abusing her and she had to get away. This conversation was complete with PHOTOS ON HER PHONE of the bruises she said she got from him. I assumed they knew each other until I saw the teller wanting to crawl out of her skin. Poor lady. This is why I don’t ask people how they’re doing. Even if they ask me. I don’t have the capacity.
So true, as a bank teller you hear some pretty horrific/sad/heartbreaking stories. In a month I had two parents who kids were shot dead. After that I honestly want more irate crazy customers than those parents going through their worst nightmare.🥲 As a bank employee when you suspect DV or abuse ( elderly or kids) we flag it in the system, so when preps come in we don’t share ANY info or process their enquiries Later escalate to LE.
You're awesome. You seem happy to have left Louisiana and I get it. I was born in Monroe but my mom moved to TX when I was 1 month old. THANK GOD!!! 😂. I live in Dallas but I'm coming to see you when you come to Austin!!!!
I was born and raised in Oregon, but half my family is from Monroe. I've only been there once and we spent most of the time at a lake. It's just crazy to me how flat it is, like we were driving from Baton Rouge and we would go over a bridge and the bridge was the highest point all the way to the horizon in every direction. It still seems wild to me, I don't think I could live somewhere without mountains.
Probably the worst trauma dump ive received was while working as a cashier with a line of 20+ ppl. Lady comes up i ask her how are you today...and she tells me how her husband and pet passed early that year, and either her son or daughter just found out they had a pretty aggressive cancer. She also mentioned financial issues, i forget if it was medical or morgage related. It was tough, im terrible at consoling ppl but i tried my best. I think just listening to her was more comforting/relieving than anything else i said.
"And then a guy - from out of nowhere, from the darkness, from the night. A man from the shadows - will approach your group." God I love this description. The incredulous yet calm tone he uses makes it divine!
😂lol I needed that laugh. I'm in the ICU I know you didn't ask me how I was doing. But my nurse did and we had a 45 minute talk. Because she actually cared about how I was feeling and why was having anxiety? However, most people just say how are you doing? And don't even wait for a response, they just say I'm good too and keep it pushing In one question, Elmo became everybody's therapist.😂😢😂😅

One of my favorite things about you is mainly that delivery you have of not needing to explain your jokes, weather people get it or not. When you watch the best comedians, they know they will land. If something doesn’t hit but 3 people laugh you’re ok with that. That joke was made for those three. Maybe the others will get it 5 mins to a month later but you don’t care. Such a confidence in your story telling and the way you can come back to a punch line. Spot on man spot on
The follow up on Elmo was that Larry David attacked Elmo on GMA and had to apologize. The backlash on Larry was faster than if he’d attacked Taylor Swift.
I used to work at Home Depot...2 customers I will always remember after saying Hello, how are you?" I was just diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and I'm looking to put new lights in for my wife before I die, what do you recommend?" and " I just found out that my husband that I have these 5 kids with is cheating on me and I found out when the jeweler called to say the new engagement ring was in." I have never felt more uncomfortable on how to respond in my life.

I used to work as a cashier at a grocery store and we had to ask How are you? and while most are pleasant there will always be people who say grumpily “You don’t really wanna know do you?!” and or people talking about their divorce 😭
Usually when someone asks me how I am I just say still stapled together it's a creative way of answering the question without getting into the details of why my day sucked
I started a Teams call at work and the guy on the other end for real said, “Today is one of the worst days of my life and my world is crumbling around me, but I won’t bring you down. Let’s get started!” I was silent for a good 15 seconds and then I started the call. 🤷🏽♀️
It was a blast seeing you kill it on stage. Got to met you after the show and introduced you to my family. Great show. Great stand-up. Great Night. keep killing it bro!!!!
Well, Elmo’s had a taste of my life! 😂 Even as a teenager, it felt like people whether friends or strangers got way too eager to give me the real answer to how they’re doing. Of course, now as a nurse it’s kind of my job to get the honest answer. On the bright side, I’m very good at giving solid advice I myself should probably follow 😂

Jesus 😢
Kudos for being there for her. But if you still know her, the hospital owes her counseling. Pretty sure it's a legal requirement.
She was talking about herself. Was just glad that she could finally confide in someone about before planning her real next steps. You could have very well prevented that poor young girl’s suicide.
For everytime a "comedian" complains about their fanbase leaving, Josh drops a new set.
Mans unparalleled with the content.
What does this mean? What comedians?
@MrTekniqs the "Rogan Six" so to speak.
Maybe they should stop bitching about being cancelled and start being funny again
That is if they were ever funny to begin with, I have no solutions for Bill Maher unfortunately
And, it's all hilarious!! 😂
Well I ain't fucking great, I'm here, aren't I?
😂😂😂 you should have.
The medical staff isn’t asking a rhetorical question, you need to answer truthfully.
I always say…”I’ve been better. That’s why I’m here.😉”
I am usually very upbeat and bubbly (which is weird considering I am extremely introverted), so when I arrive at my doctor's office, I answer honestly how I'm doing, but in a cheerful voice. If you didn't know me, it might be confusing.
Them: "Hey there, Braxstine. How are you today?"
Me: "Chile, I'm pretty sure I died on the way here so you may want to check my pulse quickly!"
We grew up with Elmo caring about our feelings. The child in all of them responded to the question
That’s a really good point too. I didn’t even think about that. Imagine if Steve from blues clues asked.
I was walking home while listening this. 10/10 do not recommend. I was trying to stifle my laughter during the Elmo bit and ended up audibly snorting and wheezing. This lady crossed the street with her kid to get away 😂😂😂

I think Elmo being so sweet and wholesome and part of many of our pasts was the perfect key to unlock all of this. Honestly, people might have needed it.
I agree. It felt so sweet.
Like somebody cared.
It touched our damaged inner child
Elmo doesn’t judge.
This is the highest level of aggressive energy I’ve seen Josh have his comedic range is wild. His delivery is always great whether silly, deadpan, dry, high energy he can do it all.
He reached back somewhere for that hot pocket bit lmao
@@AStrangeWindmillmf was reliving that
There was a post on tiktok about a womans car catching fire and the car was unrecognizable she was crying; she ipened her car door and the only thing survived was her stanely cup in prestine condition still in the cup holder. Stanley reached out to her bought her more cups and a new car andnthats what basically sparked this whole Stanley Cup situation.
I saw that on TikTok and that story is wild. I was happy to see Stanley itself support her, but those cups are just too damn expensive frfr
Not only that, the ice inside was completely unmelted
The weird thing about that story though is that the plastic parts weren't melted. Like not even the straw. I'm not saying it is impossible, just kinda sus.
@cristyablad I noticed that as well but I didn't question it... I didn't know it it was plastic or painted but the straw not melted is definitely suspicious
@@cristyablad that is sus, could have been a publicity stunt. Who knows tho🤷♀️
My favorite part of the whole Elmo thing was a few hours later when the Sesame Street twitter account posted a Mental health PSA as a response to Elmo. My favorite "you get what you ask for" since Microsoft wanted to ask how people "Edge"
“From the darkness from the night” took me tf out 🤣
My favorite line in the whole set
"From the shadows" 😂
"He's having a very particular life" was the one for me.
I'll probably look back on the Elmo Post incident years from now, and I'll be thinking to myself "He just had to ask".
And that post led to Elmo getting beat by Larry David
“this is dystopian behavior” 😂😂😂 I love your sense of humor.
He's not wrong.
"Aww, man!"

I feel Elmo's pain. I learned not to ask if I really did NOT want to know the answer. Story of my life!!

I have heard that, too

The Federation does not tolerate dissent, you are being assigned to Prison Colony Praxus VII- Would you like to know more?
What that looks like is something similar to this quick dialogue conversation:
A: How're you doing today?
B: Eh, could be better
A: I'm sorry to hear that, I hope things get a little easier for you
Or something similar to that.
😂😂 "Nobody moves like that. He's having a very particular life."

The only kid aimed thing I’ve seen that attempts to address the world sucking is the “everything’s not awesome” song from Lego movie 2. And as an adult it was kind of what I needed at the time, not sure how kids took it.
The probably appreciated it. As a child I knew everything was not awesome.
@@ContactsNfilterslmao that’s so true. i was young not stupid things were clearly bad

After that I honestly want more irate crazy customers than those parents going through their worst nightmare.🥲
As a bank employee when you suspect DV or abuse ( elderly or kids) we flag it in the system, so when preps come in we don’t share ANY info or process their enquiries
