- The best weapon in the Octopath Traveler demo currently lies in Clearbrook, Alfyn's town. This is easiest with H'aanit and Therion, as H'aanit will be able to Provoke a townsperson and Therion can steal it. This guide will go over exactly how to do it!
Guide: (Check below for timestamp of Golden Axe)
1. Start with H'aanit and complete her first boss. Be sure to capture a few Sword-focused monsters.
2. Work your way down to Bolderfall and pick up Therion. Steal whatever you want in town, but steal a bunch of soulstones as this will make his boss easier and also upcoming battles.
3. Head further south to Clearbrook where Alfyn's scenario starts. But do not commence his introduction.

4. Save your game and head to the lady with the speech bubble above her head standing in front of a door. Provoke and defeat her. She's weak vs Swords, with H'aanit, I managed to beat her at lv8 with attacks to break and 2 fully charged Sword monster attacks when she was broken.
5. Head inside the house and use the steal command on the old man. You have a 3% chance to steal the Golden Axe and 4 attempts before bad reputation sets in with the townsfolk. If you fail, reload your save and repeat until you get it.

Very welcome. Its pretty rare so good luck if you try for it lol. Took me like an hour of reloads and game overs when it showed up after beating him. He hits like a truck too.
Do you fight him? Or steal it?
Matt Herbert it's a rare drop after you fight him with the Challenge action. If he doesn't drop it just reload and try again.
Is there a recommended level for this? I think it's 5 or 6 star difficulty.
Finally got it after wasting 20 mins. I closed the game from the home screen and rebooted the game. Then got it on my 5-6 try!

I luckily did this naturally before this video on my first attempt too. Alfyn using this axe with last resort is GAME OVER!
Once you start stealing items, it’s hard to do it any other way!

I just figure out your channel,little late to see this tutorial mode to get weapons and armors easy because just get many items doing this above couple of hours ago today but doesnt mean this weapons is useless,ty for share all this tips with us :)

There is Death Cleaver that provides even more Phy.Atk/Crit and seldomly add poison to enemies, But it's PITA to get. So i think Golden Axe is the great start.

Man I absolutely love H'aanit's character design. She's freaking gorgeous. Such a shame that I need to start with Primrose instead tho due to her story being so good, cus she kind of sucks in combat, specially alone, but I simply have to start w her cus her story is so dang good.
Laughing Hyena capture monster has the best attack for her in the game in the beginning. Took her out with 1 attack from Hyena at 3 stars on 3rd turn. It also took off 2000+ damage in Therion's story against the servant 👍🏾

Great video. I’m definitely going to get that on my main save file when the game comes out. I was also wondering if at some point you can make a somewhat in-depth video on Alfyn’s “Concoct” ability and how it works. I’ve come across some people with questions and it’d be really easy to just refer them to one of your videos.

Alfyn = most op character in the game. His concoct ability can deal all types of damage, heal everyone for massive amounts, and at the same time he can be a super tank. I started my game over and made him my main, haan'it is now warming the bench.
I still do this when I replay the game. The axes are just so good in early game. What's weird is that everytime I do this I steal that 3% axe waaay quicker than the 8% one. It usually only takes 1-2 saves till I'll steal it while the 8% always takes quite a bit more

Even stuff that should be a high chance of getting, 80%, I still fail to get what I need. Took me 7 tries to get the Golden Axe with save scumming. And whenever it's 80% expect to do the same thing twice.
It’s all RNG. I had terrible luck stealing other items.

You know what it is weird when I was rebooting the game I came across this error code I thought my game was corrupted but it's fine but short story I rebooted the game a second time after 3 tries on my fourth try I got the golden axe on my second reboot of reloading the game I am so happy and excited I can't wait to test it out right now I don't want to start over again on my game after this moment of getting a powerful weapon I'm just going to Keep On Truckin on my game

I had a 3% chance to steal with with a level 32 Therion. I saved before hand thinking I was going to have to reset my game many times but got it in the first theft. Lol I celebrated.

I REALLY hate that this game doesn't have in game maps for the various areas you traverse! It's freaking 2023 & we still have games without area maps?? That's just dumb imo! There should also be an icon or something that tells us when we have gotten all possible items in a town or area! This would make the game far easier to complete on our own vs needing to use a guide for things!
Can you do this if you already have Alfyn? I didn't know about this until AFTER I'd already got him as my 3rd character. 😥🤦

I got the axe in one try. Idk how. I tried stealing the weaker axe first, and tried twice with no success. Then I decided to go for the Golden Axe just for fun, and I got it the first try. Damn I'm lucky
So, few questions. I know I'm starting this game now lol, but could you explain the 3 hour time limit, when it begins on the Axe, what he meant about the Sword, where and who I can get it from, and when would be the best time to get it? Should I grind before therion for the sword then get the Axe, I'm confused.
This was the demo which lasted 3 hours
So I saw one of your tips says to use sword based monsters when the enemy is broken. However weaknesses are irrelevant when an enemy is broken as ALL attacks do 2x damage when they are broken. Weaknesses are only relevant when the enemy is NOT broken. Just thought I should point this out as some ppl don't seem to know this fact.
do NPCs recover from provoke/challenge battles?
Yep, I think it's tied to moving past a few areas.

Curtis Reid if you're lucky to get exp/jp x100 from bewildering dance that's one way, others I've seen involve using powerful characters and just finishing fights quickly.

I'm about 25 hours into Olberic's story, and if anyone has any doubts or questions to whether or not it's worth the price tag hit me up. Lx Beltran it's a big game. I just picked up the 8th character and I'm 14 hours in going at a pretty good pace. Each character has 4 chapters of their story total and I'm only finished chapter one on each. Not to mention there are side quests, side areas, sub job shrines to find and bonus bosses. I think 80 hours is the number that people average on their first playthrough.
wow you guys are fast because I'm about 30 hours in and I'm just about to get primrose she's the last character I'm getting... I guess I do love to grind in my old school RPGs as well as take my time. I want it to last you know? But it is an amazing game is it not?

I may be false but if the enemys shield is broken, it doesn't matter if you attack with the weakness. Those are only there to break him

Just sayin' cause you used up one of your captured mobs instead of Linde, which isn't that bad but you never know when you need it and then you won't have it cause you used it 2 times more than needed

I'm not sure. I find myself dealing less damage if the weapon or spell I use is not weak against it.
got it on my 4th attempt. wow! before that i got the commemorative coin from an NPC in Sunshade Tavern on my first try which had 3% chance of being stolen as well. hahaha lucky me!

i am trying to get that axe for 1 hours with quit and load method, and still didn't get that. so frustrating.
If you have the gold and appropriate level for Tressa, you should be able to buy it instead. But stealing is free!

No, it's just that you can't steal those, they can only be bought...

Anamana! Oh yeah, and all those "forbidden" weapons have a bad side effect.
Some of them can eventually rise your opponent's attack, for example...
So can you leave the town and Provoke/fight the woman again if you want? Asking cus I know there are some NPC's with fantastic but rare drops when defeated. Question is can you farm them or can you only fight each of them once?
Just save after u defeat them. And then reload the game

You can! The demo is 1 to 1 with the main game.
Mine does not work, after beating the grandchild, I get in the house and just see that oldman sleeping on his bad. I cannot interact with him. Are there any prerequisites must be done in order to do this? I have H'aanit, Theriod and Alfyn in my party
As mentioned in the video, you need to do it before collecting Alfyn. It may be possible to do it after finishing Alfyn's first Chapter, when side quests become available in town. But if you're on his quest, the old man will be sleeping.

Hieu D Do I've read that moving past or completing specific chapters can lock out some stuff, i.e. completing alfyn's chapter 2 locks aquiring the golden ax this way. Don't know if it is true but I did get it myself this way after aquiring alfyn. Possible you couldn't during alf's chapter 1 the towns do change a bit after chapters.
I never knew that you have to raise the characters level for their path action to take a chance interesting where is your characters level at the moment let me guess level 99 with their path action at level 99 OMG LOL

Yes, You can beat her and then save, she will still unconscious, unless you walked out of town completely.

@@TRASH-zw7zm pick up the Therion early. Run to as many high level cities as you can. Save scum steal gear. Scholar is overpowered. Evasive maneuvers from scholar plus evil ward from cleric means running into high level dungeons, grabbing loot then fast traveling out. Check UA-cam for secondary class locations and get them after you have a party of 4. There's no enemies in the shrines they're in but you'll have to hoof it there from town. Second class means more abilities and weapons to break shields. Path actions don't work if it's your secondary class. Example would be you can't steal if their from town npc if theif is your secondary class. Tressa grow on trees money trick only works if Tressa is in party. Won't work if another character has the class skill

Nope, the demo is technically the full first chapter set, no restrictions or weird changes not in the main game.

Because you’re using Olberic most likely. H’aanit can do it without level cap, while Olberic does.
it looks like this got patched or changed with the current retail, because with olbric I can't attack her until im lvl 25...

You should be able to do it once you have side quests pop up in Alfyns town after doing his chapter 1 story.
You can always return to the town once you have Either H'aanit, or Olberic and Therion. You can push the world map on the menu, and fast travel to any towns you have visited. :)
Oh that's easy! Just save scum until you get lucky. I always abuse that feature so I don't pay the risk. However It does get tedious after awhile.

Luck, you can also raise the % by scrutinizing or inquiring NPCs in town that have stealing advice.

Those advices are in multiple towns and it was 3% for me too. Just follow the guide and you’ll eventually get it. It’s based on luck and random.

In the guide (this video) I mention saving the game and reloading when you fail 5 times. Then you can keep trying and reloading until you get the item.
Not true. Not everything is 100% to steal in his town.
During Chapter 1 it is. Outside of that, it’s different. As in, when doing his story mission of Chapter 1. All path actions are 100% chance in Chapter 1 for each character.
Why do people savescum when you can just buy rep back? Getting money isn't that hard

It shouldn’t cost you anything if you’re using saves correctly.
