@City1Tiger yeah, if you're older. But the next generation didn't experience our time, and giving general knowledge is always a positive. We all know you should never use a jack only, but a 16, or 18, or even 23 year old thay just got into cars MAY not know, they need to ALWAYS use a jackstand. That one statement could make someone think twice and make a better decision.

But they are safer in racing situations since they provide more support and contact on the body than a regular seat belt. Hope that helps
@@blackcanyongarage I learned the importance of jack stands when I was a kid, my dad was fitting new brakes to his car and the jack failed causing the freshly fitted brake disk to cut into his leg.
@@City1Tigert really isn’t. So so many people will remove their safety features in favour of popular mods without knowing how dangerous it is. I’ve had people ask about my steering wheel and want to get one without realizing my car never came with airbags, and therefore I didn’t have to remove them to install it. I have to always tell people not to do it because they’ll be making their car more dangerous
Just a small tip is to leave the battery disconnected for a few minutes, the airbags can still go off for a little bit after because they hold a charge in their capacitors. Small risk but painful price.
Really glad you said that removing the airbag is a bad idea in most cases. Most people doing this modification don’t take that into account and it’s ridiculously dangerous
You need a hans device if you are using a 4 point harness and a helmet. When crashing, the 4point harness will not stretch like a normal seatbelt, and the weight of the helmet will increase the momentum of your head resulting in a broken neck. Be safe.
Please make sure your car doesn't have a backup power supply for the Airbags. Airbags can still go off even if the battery is disconnected, because they may have a backup power supply.
You are an inspiration to me ( a 79 yr old widower and retired mechanic) I like to see young people taking an interest in mechanics and racing. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I can’t wait for a photo shoot with these cars and you to hang them up in your garage or do something cool to commemorate! Keep it up, always doing something new
It's fine to remove the airbag in your daily if you run a harness and racing seats. The harness will hold you in place and you will not hit the steering wheel with your head. There is also less probability of breaking your hands.
@@TomekHar It is much better, the standard belt allows for your body to move also which in turn will be safer for your neck. Helmet or not with a harness won't reduce the risk of you fracturing the base of your skull

Make sure the rubber covered nipple holding the wires lineup with the indent on the back of the hub adapter. Don't be like me and break the plastic by torquing the hub adapter over it off center
Please get a Hans or Simpson neck support device. I see too many people that drive cars with harnesses without any neck protection. Head and neck injuries can happen at speeds as low as 35 MPH.
I’ve never seen a short, easy, and easy to understand step to changing a steering wheel. Thanks! I was thinking about changing it to a quick release I’m not really sure its soon to be my daily driver and not sure if it would be worth putting it on and risking my safety and would I easy pass safety check? check engine light? i have a 2005 Subaru
Quick note: when removing the battery connectors you should wait for a few minute before taking out the airbags.. It can still go off if the current is all drained.
That's a nice car. My car is so old that it doesn't have neither airbags nor seat belts lol. It's a Fiat 600 it needs new tires and an engine rebuilt. I just need to fix it with my grandpa it also needs lights. It Wieghts 585 kg (1,290 lb) and I really don't know why I want to make it lighter.
No you don’t, quick release serves no use except to make it easier to get into the car. If she doesn’t have issues getting in and out there’s no reason to add one
The quick release hub makes the steering wheel a little too close for my liking, but I do have sliding seat brackets so it shouldn’t be an issue if I need to get out of the car quick😁
In poland most of guys who just get his license buy E46, Golf4 or Civic 6 and immediately replace stering wheel to this same like you have and then they think that they master of driving and ends on nearby tree. We call them Sebix
Love how you only replaced the steering wheel after you had all your safety features. Makes so much sense but no one ever understands this because no one cares to explain it
Im not trying to offend anyone 😅but I'd rather have a female car enthusiast work on a car because they take their time with the job as a man we always take short cuts and regret it later on and it's usually a shortcut like not putting the rights size battery in the car and later it leads to a catastrophic failure like a fire. Respect to all the women out there who take there time and do it right 😊
I love that you explained the harness use. No one ever does that!!!
Cause it's common sense

You need connect a resistor instead of the air bag to avoid error warnings
You're the first person to realize that to me
Its a drift car, i dont think she cares about those lol
Or u could pull out the light bulb for your warning light and never have car troubles again 🤠

Now that is a cool fact!
Press the brakes a few times (in a z at least) and it gets rid of the charge

Good that you pointed out that it's not worth it as a daily. A lot of people seem to think that it's a good idea to remove the airbag on their daily.
most ppl dont have track car so who cares?

Still a bad idea, harnesses will hold your body in place but not your head/neck which could cause a horrible neck fracture
@@koolaidcrusade7776 Not really better than hitting your head against a headrest in a regular car. It is recommended to run a helmet still, though.
