Personally I get the moves, but I don't know why it is the right moves 🤣 I mean for the horse move Yes it was simple, but the rook move, it was just my instinct telling me this is the way to go haha
I adore everything Brian's done, except I don't like the "yes" angle. It kinda sidelines the 95+% of fans who could never beat any of these guys, plus it appeals to viewer ego, which is very un-Coffee Chess.
Hikaru’s revenge against Russian hustler was insane. His plan with the pawn wasn’t obvious to me but when Hikaru offers a whole rook you need to watch out for the traps.
Think about this.. This is like Lebron James or any other Top 10 Athlete in any sport, playing pick up games at the local court, field, etc etc... This really is an amazing think Naka is doing for not only the people he is playing live but also for the channel and viewers. I have to say, my attitude towards ( the bar if you will) has gone up since all of this has taken place. Bravo Hikaru.... and Bravo Coffee chess.
Loving Hikaru Coffe Chess mash up soo much that I am watching Hikaru's channel again after having abolished it for some time! I had dropped his channel after the dramatic low blows to Eric Hansen (Chess bras). That blew over but I was too miffed at whoever was responsible for the copyright strike behind the scenes go back until I saw hope for Hikaru's YT direction (ChessBae main suspect pulling strings, major chess channel donor who , word is, likes to buy right to call shots).. loving this format though! Hikaru and Coffee Chess were always my favourite channels and it is nice to have Hikaru's brilliance back in my life. Hikaru is definitely shining bright here. Just @Coffee Chess beware of big donors and maintain control of your channel please. We have enough of that nonsese spoiling politics without UA-cam channels being controlled by the highest bidder or lobbyist.
Thank you Brian! Your analysis is always great and appreciated. You have helped me develop new strategies. Also thank you to GM Hikaru for teaming up with coffee chess your matches are always exciting.
then Bc3 or Ba5, opens the file for the queen to attack the bishop on d6, but the Bd6 has to defend the c7, so the bishop only had 2 square available, d6 itself and c7 because there's no more pieces that can defend bishop on d6, so, the bishop are dead or the c7 square would no longer defended by the bishop.
Is this celebrity Ludwig?? You said they weren’t a pro chess player but if they made contact they have to enjoy chess so maybe it’s him? Would be fun to see a match of him vs Brooklyn Dave or Boston mike
2:43 his plan might have been to sack the rook on the d file in order to open up the diagonal for the bishop once it got to h3 to hopefully put some pressure with the queen on a8. The issue is that one, it takes to long and two, blacks bishop can block on b8 and im not sure how to continue attack from there.
i joined this channel like 5 or 6 months ago now its has hikaru and some new guy coming wow just wow i have found gold.. would love to come play someday
I was also a bit surprised this line was skipped in the video. I checked with an engine. Apparently, white can move their bishop to c3. The black bishop then gets attacked twice, and the only piece that can defend it, is the king, but castling instead is better according to the engine. I think if you move the king, you'll end up being a sitting duck with all the pieces white developed.
I am not huge on Hikaru streams just because I prefer others style of commentary, but I LOVE these cross-over vids and they have become my fav chess vids on YT. Appreciate both Hikaru and the Coffee chess guys for making these exciting David vs Goliath games happen!
on that knight move, am not sure what differences is it to take the other knight first with your bishop or not cause hikaru most likely still take the knight with his knight and still have the bishop with check avoiding the fork. what stopping him ??? if he did the other move other then you get that fork. nevermind i see what you mean. He shouldn't had taken the pieces with that pawn
if Nd5 defends c7 square and Bb3, then Bxb3 the knights has to take Nxb3, then the c7 square no longer defended so the knight can jump to c7, forking the king, queen and rook.
not really a loss when the other guy has 5:00 and you have 1:00 lol. don't understand why the don't use one hand to move pieces and another on the clock to save A-LOT of time.

on 04:37 bishop C4 probably could've been the best move^ - queen is targeting G6 Pawn^ - he cannot take his knight away for counter attack coz he would loose his bishop (queen will just take it) - vertical D is well protected for any double attack to mate White King last but not least, all Hikaru's opponents have a bad managment control over time. Over sudden they rush instead of taking their time and think! Alex lost with almost +3 min - stupid
If you'd have said 'first time Hikaru's opponent wins' that would have been way less douchey by a magnitude of order. It will happen eventually since 1m timer only needs someone to take him 50 moves without stalemate. Begging for someone to lose, not a classy move kid.
GMHikaru and Coffee Chess were made for each other.
🎯
Were mate each other hehe
❤🖤💘
Amen
Actually they were made because their parents loved each other very much and 9 months later they were born.
Gongrats to Hikaru for a masterclass in ST.Louis this weekend!
Yeah congratulations to him, loving coffee Chess. Also shoutout to the best to ever touch a mic.
I love the way you ask a Q in the analysis, pause, then say ‘yes’… like i got it. I never get the right move 😂
He should start saying “what would be a better move here?…. (Pause)…. No!!! That’s a blunder you suck!”…. Would be much more realistic for us.

To make GM Hikaru play (maybe 20-30% serious) is already remarkable.
He didn't offer a whole rook though, it could have been 2 minor pieces for the rook which is about equal value
Hikaru hangs a pawn and a knight on the first game. The old man was confident.
It wasn't a whole rook, but yeah you're right.

Game ends at 5:30, skip to 11:10 for how Alex could've won
The way Don wore that mask didn't inspire a ton of confidence lol
It seemed like he wore it normally to me
Its mostly effective on the chin
You see, he's an anatomical marvel. His nose isn't connected to his lungs.
i love how the music sync with the situation

Ooooh that feeling you get when you realize you've made a mistake. (your brain: please don't see it, please don't see it, please don't see it)
3:13 look at Hikaru’s face 😂😂. He knew he blundered lol. But man that’s just insane he could see it instantly after pressing the clock.
It's not a blunder, u can't take the queen. I can't understand?
@@herojack2950 Did you saw till the end of the video bruh?

I am absolutely loving this crossover, great work coffee chess crew and shout out to GM Hikaru for winning in st.louis
i'm not terribly surprised he blundered hes playing with alot less time but he still killed it at the end of the day getting good checkmates

Yoooo that look on Hikaru's face at 1:18 when he takes is a whole meme.

Coffee Chess has improved both in Chess and Heckling. ENCORE!!!
It's like he glance at the ceiling engine and thinks: _"Why didn't you tell me, stupid engine?"_

That look! Hilarious!
Mike bestowing mercy on Russian Alex- "I like this guy" 😂😂
4 minutes to 37.3... seconds. LOL
This guy was in a hurry and that kid knew it.
What a beautiful mate on the second game!
4:11 Oh no why do I hear boss music 😂😂
2:19 , Black knight to D6 is a better move?
This video proves Hikaru is not an automaton after all.
Is the guy that gives us analysis at the end the guy with the Nike glasses?
the american almost falls to the awesome coffee chess crew, great job brian
11:16 why not bishop-d6. defends the knight square and holds the position
then Bc3 or Ba5, opens the file for the queen to attack the bishop on d6, but the Bd6 has to defend the c7, so the bishop only had 2 square available, d6 itself and c7 because there's no more pieces that can defend bishop on d6, so, the bishop are dead or the c7 square would no longer defended by the bishop.
What about b4, Q moves (Qa5 or Qc6) and Nb2.
best intro.
its so much better if you put the air drop below that eyes😂
@Coffee Chess, it would have been nice to see what could have been if WK had take BQ
Blunder ? No , just not the best move, but Hikaru won again with 29seconds left ! He plays so fast 🤪👍
Yes, blunder, its loose material and get worse position. Luckly the adversary not saw.

Both blundered. Hikaru by hanging his queen, and Russian Alex by not taking it.
Hikaru impressions are something else :D
I used to dislike Hikaru for his online content, but I actually like his real life character
The strongest competitor yet.

I was also a bit surprised this line was skipped in the video.

If your goal is to save the knight, QxN QxQ PxQ says you've still lost the piece. You do gain a passed pawn on B.
