After hearing about the ice storm throughout Texas, I knew Schlatt was just having a ball especially considering how much he loved the last winter storm! C'mon mother nature, give Schlatt more winter storms, he LOVES them!
Locusts are a short-horned species of grasshopper, usually found in various regions of Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. So there's a good reason why Ted and Schlatt have not seen locusts before.
locusts are present on all continents except for antarctica! they comprise several different species of grasshopper, all characterized by swarming behavior that is only activated under the correct environmental conditions. typically, drought conditions activate a part of their brain that kicks serotonin production into overtime. they fuck a lot, have a lot of babies, and raze fields of crops. they are more common around farming areas. that’s probably why neither ted nor schlatt has much personal experience with them
Fun fact: there used to be a locust in North America called the Rocky Mountain locust but it went extinct in 1902 Edit: There are some in Mexico, my bad

The Texas Nightmare was one of my favorite early Chuckle Sandwich episodes, so I'm glad to see a similar topic! I would have loved to see Its_Jawsh's thoughts on this one, though!
If I had a nickel for every time JSchlatt complained on a podcast about getting caught without power in a snowstorm after moving from NYC to Texas, I'd have two nickels! Which isnt a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
i've never loved tucker more than when i heard the ending to this episode of the pod. he is slowly becoming a third member of chuckle sandwich and honestly i'm here for it
Just a fun fact from an entomologist! The US does not have locusts anymore because we plowed under all of our prairies and turned them into fields for crops. We have a "Carolina locust" which isnt actually a locust, its just a grasshopper. So, you'll thankfully never have to deal with giant swarms of them 👍
perfect podcast to listen to while reminiscing how i was in texas during the great apocalypse when the titans emerged from the center of the earth and started ripping buildings from the ground like blades of dry grass as i watched metal turn to melt and the sand of the desert turn to glass
In our agriculture class last year, we went up to a farm every week and worked with steers. Unit was the name of my group's steer, he was 527kg (the biggest steer there) and he was so docile. One of my friends got into the yard with him and pulled him around with a rope.
I like this podcast because I can zone out for 30 seconds and not understand what's happening when I come back but it doesn't matter at all because I hardly understand what's happening to begin with.
When the first freeze came through, my family and I were at Disney World. We were resort hoping and got news that the pipes in our laundry room burst, flooding the entire laundry room and kitchen :D This recent one, I had to go to an outdoor barn everyday to take care of livestock I was raising for a program called FFA. Got to the barn one morning and the lambs water buckets were frozen solid. A water bottle I had left in a toolbox also did that cool insta freeze thing the second I shook the water. It looked pretty cool lol
i finished the podcast and accidentally hit replay as i was zoned out but these conversations are so intriguing that i caught myself watching the entire podcast again 30 minutes in
I actually did grow up in a coastal area where people would get stuck in quicksand every now and then, and also there was clay that you could get stuck in. One time my brother lost one of his wellies when we had to pull him out
Ted's story about the bartender is so heartwarming to me. As a server I had a lot of regulars. I knew their life stories, I saw them during all kinds of special events. When I left, I was sad because I knew I'd miss my regular customers. It's good to know the para-social relationship does go both ways sometimes
I still remember the first time I got Minecraft. I was just enamored by digging tunnels in the dirt and watching how water would flow through them. I was like a kid making sandcastles and moats on a beach. 😂
In France, there is a way to die from quicksand: around a place called the Saint-Michel Mont, there are a lot of quicksand when the tide is low as it is close to the sea. It is often necessary to rescue tourists that deviated from the indicated path and ended up stucked in quicksand because they can stay blocked when the tide rises and they can drown that way.

Schlatt the type of guy to say "aw shucks" when he's caught for the multiple crimes he committed in 1999

He always has a Christmas tree in the background for two reasons: his Catholic faith and his love of winter.

So Ted quite literally peer pressured Tucker at the end there. A lot more common than you'd think

not as common as locust swarms
