While its a more extreme version, the Baroness's speech of not letting emotions get in the way of success reminds me of Cruella's first conversation with Anita in the original 101 Dalmatians film “More good women have been lost to marriage than to war, famine, disease, and disaster. You have talent darling, don't squander it.”
@L L No? we re talking about death here, historically a woman had less value than men. Men did not have to deal with famine and disease any more than women. In times of war and diseases, who has the wages? The ones allowed to work and own a bank account: men.
Women survive famine, men do not. They had pioneers go west, get stranded, all the men died, the women survived. Women carry fat reserves on their bodies and have a lower metabolism. Regarding diseases, women have an edge over men. Estrogen increases the immune system, that's why women have more auto immune diseases, and why viruses kill more men and women live longer. The lower value on women is because women are common and men are scarce. It's about numbers. And men go to war and get killed. Women do not go to war and they leave town when the enemy is coming. And women are more cautious and skiddish. They have fewer car accidents because they are more alert.
I think she kinda knew Estella was her daughter low key and wanted to be a mother a little bit but the thought of being replaced by her offspring prevented that
Not only stella played a great in this movie...but also her boss...she also deserves the appreciation.. it's pleasure to see her acting level yrr., I loved it🔥

@@johnlg2012Cruellas journey Into cruella isn’t complete. She said she never wanted to be like her mother, but the Baroness acts more like the cruella we know then she does now. The baroness will be back.
It’s weird cause like.. if she didn’t care about Estella she wouldn’t have given her the advice she did. This whole scene is actually pretty complex cause you know who Cruella is and you know how horrible a person the Baroness is that even her just like… giving her a compliment and feeling SOME remorse at the 0:49 mark actually very out of character for the Baroness
Yes, she is somehow being mother here to her and giving her a life lesson, but still, baroness is a narcissist and probably doesn't accept of being replaced by her offspring.

@L L only because they ignore the huge amounts of labour their wife does.
Estella may hate Baroness for all the right reasons but she definitely got the wicked streak from her mama.
This monologue has stuck with me since the first time I’ve seen the movie. The Baroness is such an iconic character.
In her own twisted way the baroness is trying to give Estella helpful advice.
The whole theater gasped when the cork hit his eye and I never felt more of a sense of community in my life 🤣

Me: Ohhh you have no idea what goes through her head lol.
