How to add a flickering firebox effect to an 8 Pin DCC Decoder fitted Model Railway Steam Locomotive

- In this video I go about adding a flickering fire-box effect to a steam locomotive fitted with a TTS DCC decoder. I use three different colour flicking LEDs and add them as a function to Pin 3 in the decoder socket
I love the effect of the 3 coloured LEDs. I may try this on my Hogwarts Express. The only bit that makes me nervous is soldering to the decoder socket. But I have an HM7000 8 pin decoder fitted, so could use the purple 9th cable and then just need to solder to blue common. I also think the decoder may have a built in flicker function, so perhaps normal
LEDs could be used. Brilliant guide.
Thanks.

Well done and great idea to use the decoder's built-in flicker!
Should the resistor in the group of 3 not be on the cathode-negative side at 5:51?
¡Hola buenas tardes Paul! Great little 'How To' video for lighting or, indeed, any auxiliary uses. I've been following your channel since I started back in the hobby and, your pre-work checks have certainly been adopted by me, when it comes to electrical working. Thanks for keeping things in 'plain speak' and, I am sure other novice modellers will appreciate this type of informative video. As ever, take care, stay safe and, as they say in Spain, ¡Feliz Navidad! Un saludo. Gary
Hola Gary, many thanks for the comment, glad you like the videos, very much amateur level stuff but hopefully others can follow what I'm going on about. We're all learning...
Hello Paul, Where did you find "Flickering" LED's? I have been searching through the internet and cannot find any that do not come without a circuit. I would like to find Nano/Pico or 1.6mm.
Hi there, I used 3mm flickering LEDs in my project - bought from eBay from memory
