I'm truly baffled by this. A track of mine that I made a long time ago was released to Spotify, but I never uploaded or released it it through Distro Kid. Not only that, I did not choose the name or image that was put on Spotify either. Have any idea how this could've possibly happened? I reached out to them about this. But honestly it's so baffling because I don't even have this track on my computer anymore.
I just saw today some nice Japanese song on my profile, can't find the dude to congrat him on the amazing track, so I guess it's his first release and his account isn't created due to us having the exact same artist name. I'll use the fixer mainly cause the frustration in this case will fall on him rather than me :D Thanks for the help!! p.s. - Dude is from Seoul, Korea actually (I played Star Craft for 15 years and still couldn't recognize the korean language.. damn):P
This has happened to me on every platform apart from Spotify and apple music. It's annoying as I chose to have a new profile created on Apple music and Spotify. But it still didn't create new profiles on the other sites :/ Hopefully they reply to my requests soon. Great video :)

Thanks for this video ! This happened with my song that dropped last night , and I could have sworn that I linked the correct Spotify URI when I was uploading the track. I have a question though, I have 2 EP's uploaded right now to be dropped in the next few weeks. So assuming the same thing might happen. Is there anyway to change your Spotify link in the upload section so this doesn't continue to happen? Or by doing the fixer on one track will it correct and upload properly for the rest?
Once you have gone through fixer that should resolve it going forward. If it doesn't you need to email support. The reason you can't change your own URL is because bad players where intentionally releasing their music onto huge artists pages this way. I actually noticed it recently on Apple Music for Method Man, Some garbage europop thing on there. That would have triggered millions of notifications for a new release.
This happened to me but instead of spotify it happened to me on youtube, some other creators music is on my page and I don't know how to get rid of it and DistroKid no longer has an option for UA-cam to fix
I have the same problem on this channel. The case with UA-cam has been open since 2018…. Don’t hold your breath. Best you can do is bury the music on your homepage an make a custom playlist.
Annoying isn’t it. I think some of mine are still mixed on some services. Just submit and wait. I’ve simply focused on fixing the bigs ones like and Spotify.
That's great that Distrokid got that feature. I'm also on Distrokid running my label with 5 artists but one of my Artist already got collab releases and Spotify created two duplicate profile for her.. what to do if I'm releasing new solo track for her?! Can i merge those two artist profile of same artist into one??! Help please 🥺
You can but you will need to contact support. I had this issue with an artist having features split as well. Took quite a while to get fixed. Make sure you have made them an artist profile you can access first is my advice.

So this issue still exists as of September 2020......I searched UNders on Spotify, it returned only one guy, the wrong one, then I searched for "Unders Like A Fool" and only then did I get to your music and your profile. Why don't they make it like domain registration, where you must have a unique name....
Yeah its annoying. Ive seen if you have a history of playing similar artists then il pop up in search first. Ive been toying with the idea of a name change but OMG the hassle.
What if you used the fixer and they took it off the wrong artists page (good), but then they took the song and made a whole other artist profile for the song (bad)
DOH! So you're supposed to also put in your current artist page to link it to so this doesn't happen. So its the same process AGAIN... I know sucks. But get it moved from the new profile to the correct one.

Unders thank you very much for the reply. However, what happened was he (producer) released the song from his Distrokid account so he showed up as the artist. I’m the only artist singing. He sought to use the Fixer but now I’m showing up as featured artist and the song doesn’t show up on my artist profile either. So I want to know if there is a way to fix that where it at least show up on my artist profile as well.
Question: I submitted a song and had this issue but with the featured artist. They misattributed it to a different artist with the same name. How do you go about fixing a featured artist on Spotify?
Hello! This has helped me a lot with Deezer and Spotify, thanks a lot! But I wanted to ask if you have any idea on how to work this out on UA-cam Music, once DistroKid cannot currently deal with UA-cam issues right now. I've tried contacting UA-cam before but you have to be a part of the UA-cam partnership program to get any support, now that I've upgraded to an Official Artist Channel they're mostly just ignoring me, so I'd really like some help, if you can, haha And hey great content, man! If your music ends up on the wrong page because you changed your name then after using fixer is moved to a whole new artist page because you changed your name, does your Spotify for artist change too? Please let me know.
my issue is, as soon as I press Spotify, the "select the release track" bar just disappears and only leaves me to put in the artist URI, but I dont think that would help since they don't know which track to correct. How can I fix this?

If my band has the same name as a very famous band, and our music is published on their page by error, do we risk something? a penalty or something like this? We don't want to risk anything.. is it better to change the name of the band?
If they have their name copyrighted then yeah you do. Also id suggest getting a fix in place as soon as possible. It might be a good idea to reach out to them or their management and explain the mistake too. If your honest and forthcoming its better than looking like you are trying to sneak in free plays off their name.
What if I'm just the featured artist on someone else's track? They didn't link my Spotify profile, instead they linked some other nonexistent artist by mistake.
I have a problem, I made an account on Spotify before I signed up with CD Baby that I used for listening before I released music through them, they then made me an artists page, and then a random profile called "Dan Schonskic" was created with my music on it.. I just wanted to upload my fucking music and that's that, why are there 3 accounts with my name now?
The only person who can mess up the colab info is whoever filled out an submitted the music. Its down to that admin to correctly submit featured artists etc. Now if its got the wrong feature its the same process but for a feature or collaborative artists.
Ok so pretty much anytime me and my label making a collab realease using "&" it is making a new profile in the name of the collab. For example if the song called "ARTIST1 & ARTIST2 & ARTIST3 - SONGNAME" Distrokid makes a new profile named "ARTIST1 & ARTIST2 & ARTIST3" instead of placing the song under each artists profile page. This happend to last 3 releases we made. You can t use always fixer and wait weeks to fix the issue cause you re always out of release date. Any suggessions?
That’s because it’s being listed as a new artist. Either it’s artist 1 Feat blank, blank. Or you make a group name. Imagine if the likes of D12 came out an labels each artist on a track like that.
Hey this was great but Im confused for my situation. I have featured artist on my latest project (3 to be exact), and distrokid failed to find the actually profiles and they are all sourced to pages that don't exist with the artist names. Through fixer, do i click "someone else's music is on my page" and copy the correct link to Apple Music profiles? and do I leave the "link to the release to be removed" blank or? as I do no want to remove anything, just adjust the profile URLS to the actual featured artist pages.

Exactly the same process but select youtube. However since march youtube have been TERRIBLE at fixing anything. And I have had a case open since April for a similar issue to what you describe. If you go type Unders into search you will likely see a mash of me and another artist, Both doing quite well. But all mixed together non the less... Very annoying. It happened when they updated something earlier in the year an has affected thousands of artists. As you dont have a profile yet it might be a simpler fix I hope.
I have this problem! Share the exact artist name with someone on spotify and every time i release a song it will appear on their profile. After release i use spotify for artists to fill in a form to put the release on my profile. The other artist has a huge fanbase and i get a lot of streams from it but dont know how to fix it
When scheduling your release you need to assign the correct profiles. Once its done it works for future releases. But till you fix it thing will keep going to the wrong place.
Ok I’m in the opposite issue. Someone with the same name has uploaded music on my profile for Apple Music and UA-cam. I’ve tried contacting the artist but they haven’t done anything about it so it’s just sitting there on my profiles. I’ve tried contacting tunecore which they used to upload but haven’t gotten a response yet. What can I do in this situation?
I'm having a really weird problem and I can't find a fix. I have a profile under the name "Tortured Souls." I've released music before and everything used to be fine. As of recently however, when I try and upload more music it creates a completely new "Tortured Souls" with nothing on it to put my single on. I've tried removing it and reuploading it and it will create a completely new one instead of putting it on my page with all my music. I'd really like to know a fix for this...
@Unders it tells me that it'll go under the name tortured souls alongside the other releases. It knows my page and has released everything else over on it but all of a sudden it started making new pages
What to do when I'm on a feature, but the feature is attached to another same-named profile and the owner of the song can only edit HIS name and profile, not the name and profile of FEATURING artists on the single?

this just happened to me on a ton of my new releases, when i used fixer it didnt ask me to select a track or paste in the URI of any track, just wanted my spotify artist page which was weird. i rlly think its spotifys doing since I already had an artist page and i linked it when i released those singles and it still was on the wrong page. rlly annoying. now idk if i can upload songs without it being on the wrong page.
Thats annoying, I have noticed on my recent releases that im having to choose the correct artist profile to upload to sometimes. Alway worth double checking, I to get complacent and just scroll though.
@@Unders i just released another and its not even like im using the wrong URI. and one of my singles are actually doing well on the wrong artist page. and i doubt it'll keep the plays and stuff when it moves.
@@mat.992 Plays usually come over, but it takes a month or so for spotify's numbers to reset. Thats why you sometimes see a huge flux in listeners too. If its happening on all releases then its time to contact distrokid support my friend.
Depends on the situation. Some times, but not always. Lets say the release went out to the wrong artists fans on a release radar, Well really they went your streams. You will still get paid for them though.

there are a bunch of people named Saul, Saúl etc.. but I haven't seen anyone in the music platforms named "Saúl XSZ" specifically so if nobody with my specific name pops up, distrokid will make artists accounts for me because ill be the first one ? Because previously I dropped a song with the name Saúl but people already had that name even though I clicked on create new profile etc.. you know 😅
I’m a UA-cam partner so I was able to contact the partner network. Despite that it took over a year to resolve. Initially I was able to report it from the analytics pages on here where the miss linked videos show up back in 2019
But what if you have a collaboration and the song is on your page but on the wrong page of the artist your collaborated with. In this case would you also do the same steps? And in stead of linking your url do you link the person you collaborated with?

This is a problem I've had. I have just noticed my last 3 tracks have ended up on the wrong spotify profile. These 3 tracks were released by the record label. Would i be wright in saying i need to contact the label ?

There’s no question here. But your solution is to follow the steps in the video. For every track. Also places like Spotify don’t operate for name changes and finicky updates. So be 100% before you release 👍
This is why I use my real name on all of my creations, and music compositions. I have never been a fan of pen names, or fictional names. I created everything on my own, and my name should be on everything I create.😏
Ok so im picking the option (my music in on the incorect page) then im picking (spotify) and then i can only pick an arists. i cant pick the release that is wrong. it only lets me pick WHERE and WHO. not WHICH release. how is this works? i mean how distrokid knows which track is wrong if i dont put a uri? Yeah. Don’t fill in your real name as the composer. I believe you can edit the composer data by going to your release an selecting edit (I may be wrong an can’t check just now)

Hi Unders, Any clue what to do if someone appears among your music in the youtube music app? A foreign track with the same artist's name? This caused someone now claim the right to an official artist channel, despite the fact that none of my music appears on his channel..
Few people have asked, Basically I had to send a report to youtube via the partners program. And it took a little over 18 months for the mto fix it. And its happening again now. If you dont have partner program access, Then truthfully I dont know if there's a way.

@@Kmuzic What has happened to many people. Is they own a an artist profile and the wrong music has been linked to it. Like this video is for. Since you own the page simply do this process an highlight the music that is not yours. Assuming the artist name etc is all correct.
Idk if you know how to fix this problem but when i released a song on everything except Spotify it say "VROOM (feat. Lil Valentine)" But on Spotify it says only "VROOM" And i wanna know how to fix that and have tha artist name in the titile. They dont get back to you, They simply pass on the information you provide to the correct platform admins. If its not getting fixed reach out to support.
I can see you right away on youtube. You cannot control youtube annoyingly. Im having an issue at the moment where another artists tracks got merged with mine. Been dealing with youtube support for about 6 months. Search Unders as well its now a mix of his tracks and then a bunch of my content. Hi! All of my music has been placed to another account that pretends that my music is his, i tried distrokid fixer multiple times over a span of 7 months and it never fixed anything. I made a youtube artist account but it doesnt show me the emoji next to it. When i try the fixer it says that i have to paste my artist account into the form but then it says “That's not a valid Spotify artist URI. Are you sure you did it right? See our example screenshot if you're unsure.” I honestly dont know what to do because i tried contacting the person and he doesnt want to remove the videos.

Assuming you’re on DistroKid like me. There’s an option that literally says “Let's make a new Spotify page for this artist” when you use Fixer. Do that.
🤷♂️ never used them. Have a poke around though there should (hopefully) be something you can do. If not in the video I show how to do it via Spotify fixer option. But it takes weeks.

Best of luck mate! its an ongoing issue. i've just seen someone else's music on my spotify.... An last year one of my tunes went to someone else on Beatport. mostly everything works fine. They do and options are, tale down the original track and pay for a new one. or make changes on the said track including artwork ang band name details and wait for another month to be updated... ☹️

hopefully won't be too long. You know Beatport was actually the worst id dealt with. once its done though generally that it for good.

Unders I put my music on all Dsps through United masters but the song went on the wrong artist page the only option is to claim the artist profile

You can but you will need to contact support. I had this issue with an artist having features split as well. Took quite a while to get fixed. Make sure you have made them an artist profile you can access first is my advice.

So this issue still exists as of September 2020......I searched UNders on Spotify, it returned only one guy, the wrong one, then I searched for "Unders Like A Fool" and only then did I get to your music and your profile. Why don't they make it like domain registration, where you must have a unique name....

What if you used the fixer and they took it off the wrong artists page (good), but then they took the song and made a whole other artist profile for the song (bad)
DOH! So you're supposed to also put in your current artist page to link it to so this doesn't happen.

Featured artists will show on their profile if you featured an artist with a known profile.

He sought to use the Fixer but now I’m showing up as featured artist and the song doesn’t show up on my artist profile either. If your music ends up on the wrong page because you changed your name then after using fixer is moved to a whole new artist page because you changed your name, does your Spotify for artist change too? Please let me know.

my issue is, as soon as I press Spotify, the "select the release track" bar just disappears and only leaves me to put in the artist URI, but I dont think that would help since they don't know which track to correct. How can I fix this?

If my band has the same name as a very famous band, and our music is published on their page by error, do we risk something? a penalty or something like this? We don't want to risk anything.. is it better to change the name of the band?
If they have their name copyrighted then yeah you do. Also id suggest getting a fix in place as soon as possible. It might be a good idea to reach out to them or their management and explain the mistake too. If your honest and forthcoming its better than looking like you are trying to sneak in free plays off their name.

What if I'm just the featured artist on someone else's track? They didn't link my Spotify profile, instead they linked some other nonexistent artist by mistake.
You can correct this by submitting the correction. links are in the videos description 👍 just a heads up, it takes AGES to get fixed.

I have a problem, I made an account on Spotify before I signed up with CD Baby that I used for listening before I released music through them, they then made me an artists page, and then a random profile called "Dan Schonskic" was created with my music on it.. The only person who can mess up the colab info is whoever filled out an submitted the music. Its down to that admin to correctly submit featured artists etc. Now if its got the wrong feature its the same process but for a feature or collaborative artists.
Ok so pretty much anytime me and my label making a collab realease using "&" it is making a new profile in the name of the collab. For example if the song called
"ARTIST1 & ARTIST2 & ARTIST3 - SONGNAME"
Distrokid makes a new profile named "ARTIST1 & ARTIST2 & ARTIST3" instead of placing the song under each artists profile page.
This happend to last 3 releases we made. You can t use always fixer and wait weeks to fix the issue cause you re always out of release date.

That’s because it’s being listed as a new artist. Either it’s artist 1 Feat blank, blank.
Or you make a group name.

Hey this was great but Im confused for my situation. I have featured artist on my latest project (3 to be exact), and distrokid failed to find the actually profiles and they are all sourced to pages that don't exist with the artist names. Through fixer, do i click "someone else's music is on my page" and copy the correct link to Apple Music profiles? and do I leave the "link to the release to be removed" blank or? as I do no want to remove anything, just adjust the profile URLS to the actual featured artist pages.
They as in the featured artists need to correct this not you.
At least that’s the solution in other comments. Never had it as an issue myself.

Exactly the same process but select youtube. However since march youtube have been TERRIBLE at fixing anything. And I have had a case open since April for a similar issue to what you describe. If you go type Unders into search you will likely see a mash of me and another artist, Both doing quite well. But all mixed together non the less... Very annoying. It happened when they updated something earlier in the year an has affected thousands of artists. As you dont have a profile yet it might be a simpler fix I hope.

I have this problem! Share the exact artist name with someone on spotify and every time i release a song it will appear on their profile. After release i use spotify for artists to fill in a form to put the release on my profile. The other artist has a huge fanbase and i get a lot of streams from it but dont know how to fix it
When scheduling your release you need to assign the correct profiles. Once its done it works for future releases. But till you fix it thing will keep going to the wrong place.
Ok I’m in the opposite issue. Someone with the same name has uploaded music on my profile for Apple Music and UA-cam. I’ve tried contacting the artist but they haven’t done anything about it so it’s just sitting there on my profiles. I'm having a really weird problem and I can't find a fix. I have a profile under the name "Tortured Souls." I've released music before and everything used to be fine. As of recently however, when I try and upload more music it creates a completely new "Tortured Souls" with nothing on it to put my single on. I've tried removing it and reuploading it and it will create a completely new one instead of putting it on my page with all my music. I'd really like to know a fix for this...
You MUST ensure you select that you already have a Spotify page an make sure the the URI is correct. Before scheduling the release.

Nightmare. You can correct other stores in the fixer option. Like Apple Music for example. However some. You may have to delist and re-release

this just happened to me on a ton of my new releases, when i used fixer it didnt ask me to select a track or paste in the URI of any track, just wanted my spotify artist page which was weird. i rlly think its spotifys doing since I already had an artist page and i linked it when i released those singles and it still was on the wrong page. rlly annoying. now idk if i can upload songs without it being on the wrong page.
Thats annoying, I have noticed on my recent releases that im having to choose the correct artist profile to upload to sometimes. Alway worth double checking, I to get complacent and just scroll though.

@@mat.992 Plays usually come over, but it takes a month or so for spotify's numbers to reset. Thats why you sometimes see a huge flux in listeners too. If its happening on all releases then its time to contact distrokid support my friend.

Depends on the situation. Some times, but not always. Lets say the release went out to the wrong artists fans on a release radar, Well really they went your streams.
You will still get paid for them though.

there are a bunch of people named Saul, Saúl etc.. but I haven't seen anyone in the music platforms named "Saúl XSZ" specifically so if nobody with my specific name pops up, distrokid will make artists accounts for me because ill be the first one ? Because previously I dropped a song with the name Saúl but people already had that name even though I clicked on create new profile etc.. you know 😅

I’m a UA-cam partner so I was able to contact the partner network. Despite that it took over a year to resolve.
Initially I was able to report it from the analytics pages on here where the miss linked videos show up back in 2019
But what if you have a collaboration and the song is on your page but on the wrong page of the artist your collaborated with.
In this case would you also do the same steps?
And in stead of linking your url do you link the person you collaborated with?

You pick the song. You pick the correct profile URI and they consolidate all music from the deleted artist to that profile.

Yup. If you are a small channel unfortunately not much you can do. I reached out to creator support and it took 18 months for them to fix it.
And with that said, ive noticed some videos that aint mine creeping in again.

This is a problem I've had. I have just noticed my last 3 tracks have ended up on the wrong spotify profile. These 3 tracks were released by the record label. Would i be wright in saying i need to contact the label ?

There’s no question here. But your solution is to follow the steps in the video. For every track.
Also places like Spotify don’t operate for name changes and finicky updates. So be 100% before you release 👍
This is why I use my real name on all of my creations, and music compositions. I have never been a fan of pen names, or fictional names. I created everything on my own, and my name should be on everything I create.😏

probably because you dont have spotify premium. it auto shuffles music. test it on a desktop and go to that specific track.

Yeah. Don’t fill in your real name as the composer. I believe you can edit the composer data by going to your release an selecting edit (I may be wrong an can’t check just now)

Any clue what to do if someone appears among your music in the youtube music app? A foreign track with the same artist's name? This caused someone now claim the right to an official artist channel, despite the fact that none of my music appears on his channel..
Few people have asked, Basically I had to send a report to youtube via the partners program. And it took a little over 18 months for the mto fix it.
And its happening again now.
If you dont have partner program access, Then truthfully I dont know if there's a way.
Will I have to do this process every time I upload a song?
Once you have your own artist profile just check its going to the right place on each release from your release upload page.

Idk if you know how to fix this problem but when i released a song on everything except Spotify it say "VROOM (feat. Lil Valentine)" But on Spotify it says only "VROOM" And i wanna know how to fix that and have tha artist name in the titile. Hi! All of my music has been placed to another account that pretends that my music is his, i tried distrokid fixer multiple times over a span of 7 months and it never fixed anything. I made a youtube artist account but it doesnt show me the emoji next to it. When i try the fixer it says that i have to paste my artist account into the form but then it says

Assuming you’re on DistroKid like me. There’s an option that literally says “Let's make a new Spotify page for this artist” when you use Fixer. Do that.

🤷♂️ never used them. Have a poke around though there should (hopefully) be something you can do. If not in the video I show how to do it via Spotify fixer option. But it takes weeks.

UA-cam is actually the worst. Ive had a case open now for 3 years with music ending up linked to this profile lol
Hello, so I have 2 songs with my brother is featured on them. And the songs aren’t showing under his page but it’s showing under a generic page Apple Music made. How to change it? My brother recently created a page and I want the songs to show under his. Any help?

Plays do not come across, which is to stop people purposely seeding their music to the wrong artists for plays.

If you don’t control the upload then they will need to add you as a feature their side.

what about with a feature? The issue i'm having is all my music is on the right page but there's a particular frequent featured artist I have on my songs and every time I upload music with him on it, the song doesn't go to his profile at all but somewhere else. How do I fix that with fixer?
I’ve had this happen as well. They however need to be the ones to fix it on their end. By submitting the correction to the platforms. Good luck 🙃

Our new track is well only track submitted by Tunecore is showing on different band, which happen to be the same name as ours, Am about to create an artist profile in spotify and my artist name is not even showing up, I did email spotify about it and still not receiving any response, will distokid can fix the issue or it should be tunecore? need help. thanks.
Tunecore should have an option to help. Bare in mind Spotify is very behind due to many officials being shut.
They do and options are, tale down the original track and pay for a new one. or make changes on the said track including artwork ang band name details and wait for another month to be updated... ☹️

What if the cog icon isn't there anymore?
Open the menus. Look for the same feature name.
It’s odd some people see it differently. I checked only the other week an for me it appears the same.
