Some of what he wore at certain times in certain places would be a state secret. Sterile uniforms from other places or something. Or so I heard. Somewhere.
I also love the stories about them back then getting to choose their own guns if they wanted to. Like one of his CO's who had a .44 magnum revolver as a sidearm.
As a part time Airsofter who works a boring desk job for a 9-5 I appreciate the love and admire your knowledge. My local shop makes a point that every "real" miliary helmet, gloves ect purchase gives you the option to donate to a miliary charity. It's something, so I proudly support those charitys and get to enjoy a sport that gets me out the office and in the mud :)
@bLackstar, Can you say push-pull detail? Guard duty? Cq & cq runner? Battalion driver? Police call? KP duty? I was never bored as a 11B/grunt. I however was frequently tired and pissed off! But better pissed off than pissed on.
Met him once on a Photo Shoot I did. He was OK then, but I've heard from others that he's no longer the guy I met, I can't say one way or another, met him only once!!
i know people have a chuckle at airsofters but the little man loves it and i quite like that the little fella gets mucky, stinking dirty drive home with your windows down on a monsoon day. I'm looking forward to to his mum finally giving me permission to take him to the range, Being in England there isn't the range of weapons but you can shoot and get a cert, i think he might like to join me on a deer stalk, or grouse
when he mentioned airsofter i was like oh great another military guy that hates on airsofters but then i was like oh hey this guy is really cool gained and new perspective on this stuff
Thank you largely for not bashing airsofters. Its especially important compliments come from your level of expertise. Lots of people look up to Navy Seals so words from you impact the community greatly. Secondly as an American this is just part of the culture and what this country is about. I subscribed to your channel
This made me feel better about not spending a arm and a leg on my bump helmet, I really just needed something to attach my nods and ear pro to. Still saving my money to buy a team Wendy ballistic helmet but my bump helmet will do for now. Thanks for the video👍🏻
Coch, awesome content! Can you do a vid cover battle dress uniforms that you wore throughout your career? The idea of the RAID BDU is intersting and I've seem some pictures of SEALs, especially Team 6 SEALs, wearing an all-tan uniform, circa 2001-2006. Love to hear more about that stuff. What did you wear on ops in the Balkans in the '90s? Would love to learn more about this stuff. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Coch, best video I have seen on this subject. I see the Gel Blaster guys and girls using them. Gel blasting is the Australian version of Airsoft. I also appreciate the comment on the Airsoft guys spending and therefore creating a market. When I was wearing green, we were wearing gear that just come back from Vietnam and it was a bit primitive compared to today. Love your videos, I have been binging a few to catch up. Cheers
I like that 4th one for skateboarding and work transport. I've seen some PMC's wear it as well a modified "reinforced" bump helmet for some kind of minimal ballistics protection so that was interesting
Back in early 2000s and earlier, Australian army issued a Norotos helmetless mount for our Ninox NV monoculars, they are not bad at all compared to most similar systems, but of course you pay for it! Some boys whinged that it gave a headache pressing on their face but at least it didn’t flop about
Glad us cosplayers and airsofters helped the industry grow in some ways(Who's going to buy all that surplus Cryes now that "Desert Wars" are in full drawdown if not us?) Anyways, it's our kink, OK? Some dress up as other genders, some dress up like Civil War combatants...We dress up like you.
SF & other commandos, wore baseball hats, boonies, beanies for decades, the K-Pod didn't get used alot, but some of the first cool guy helmets were also custom CVC helmets,& then custom high cut Mich or ACHs, besides the bumps Delta popularized in the 90's,those IBH also but were low numbers tho, the need for comms, nods, IR strobe identifiers,& O2 for jumping, then ballistic for CQB is nice
Hey Mark, for the many of us that don't have night vision, can you do a video or two on low light/ no light shooting, with a white light? Thanks and God Bless.
So basically the helmets provide little to know protection from ballistics but are great for carrying my gear and protecting from head butting. Cool thanks! In the movie Blackhawk down unfortunately a Delta Operator gets shot in the head and I always wondered what the point of the head gear was if not to protect from bullets
Used to serve in my country's equivalent to the rangers. I've used this sort of helmet mostly for carrying night vision during night time recon when I don't need ballistic protection, but also when riding light vehicles such as snow mobiles or ATVs.
I really enjoyed your video, thanks for making it. I wanted a bump helmet to hold some headphones. I was a soldier, not special forces but like you didn't want to throw all that extra money into it.
Please do have a crack at it, even if it’s a slow burner in the background. We need something like this as an example, then I’m sure people would be able to create plenty of similarly inspired designs!
His comment about people who play airsoft help drive the market is perfect. I don't play airsoft but I think it's cool. If I were a vet I would be flattered. And plus most people who milsim and okay airsoft love and respect the military. Why chase them away Dakota?
Hi Coach. Hope you are doing well. I am curious and eager to know about your wrist watch. Looks sleek and out of the world! Please shed some light on it. Thank you Coach.
When you're very seasoned like Coch, he can whoop off on anyone rocking airsoft gear and duck tape. 😂🤣 The real life Chuck Norris baddass kinda guy.. 💯
Where did you get the O2 mask clips you mounted on helm No2 in your lineup? I need some. Looks like the same mount as the ones on AF pilot helmets. ( I also have been saying what you've been saying about economies of scale with airsofters for years)
I'm making a whole bunch of them rn for the airsoft community so they don't spend too much money on cheaper repro helmets. if you have and suggestions or want to tell me something in making them let me know I would love to hear suggestions
Definitely got a like with the airsoft comment, I knew exactly where you were going with it as soon as you brought up how expensive those helmets are now. -an airsoft dweeb, still.
but like he said dude, as the airsoft people pay homage to people who serve through imitation, which is the greatest form of flattery, they are basically funding research into future technologies and it's on that ground , after one too many gin and tonics, i could argue playing airsoft is a patriotic duty and everyone should do play.

I love seeing what the special forces guys were using in the 80's and 90', so much DIY and modified gear that led to modern standards.
I also love the stories about them back then getting to choose their own guns if they wanted to. Like one of his CO's who had a .44 magnum revolver as a sidearm.

Yeah he forgot though that the revolutionary war was fought by farmers not a standing army.

I like that 4th one for skateboarding and work transport. I've seen some PMC's wear it as well a modified "reinforced" bump helmet for some kind of minimal ballistics protection so that was interesting
It is wild to think a solid bump helmet can cost so much, until you have a big bump playing around
I love navy seal so much
Greatest video.
