Might want to try Ulbrichts Protection Helmets, they claim to have true rifle protection helmets with acceptable backface deformation
If I can get one I will
@@Oxide_does_his_best 365-plus might be a solution, but the helmets are very expensive 😅
@@Oxide_does_his_best Good luck trying to afford one. I heard that the titanium-aramid composite ones start at around $5k. I heard that about a year ago when these things were brand new, so I hope that's not true anymore.
@@thermalvision203 a friend of mine recently got Zenturio C1300H for around 6000€, i dont want to know how much their new Zenturio VPam 6 Helmet costs 🤣
Canarmor helmet
I like that you used more ammo types that the helmets actually could reliably stop with satisfying results
wow i wonder what will happen when u shoot a armor piercing 5.7 at a soviet helmet wow oxide
I guess they finally realized Police and other domestic agencies are primarily dealing with a different threat than the military helmets have been largely oriented for. Specifically the difference between stopping shrapnel and errant bullets from a relatively long distance being the primary threats, VS short distance direct shots to the head being the primary threats.
Outstanding point.
Kinda like how Russian Police SWAT units and Special Forces units (FSB) using heavily armored frag suits, full body ballistic shields and heavy titanium helmets equipped with face shields for conducting raids.
Yeah i agree. Team wendy is still top tier for the military. It's just not oriented for building CQB, which police units get involved in, a lot
Aint none of them getting shot in the head 14x. They gotta stop spending taxpayer dollars on most of this gear militarizing civilian agencies.
@@luftwaffles274 This. Just look at German or Dutch specialized police units. They only wear the heavy rifle rated ulbrichts helmets with visors and heavy body armor in raids which typically also do not take that long, no sane person would carry such heavy shit on them for long periods. Apart from that, they just rock ops core's and light armor.
6 rounds out of a smg, without deformation, from point blank is rather impressive
The Wendy struggled to get 3...
@@Oxide_does_his_best Yet the Busch is like a helmet in tarkov against HP rounds, eating like 13 rounds back to back.
Try paying attention nooblet, the SMG has no relevancy, It's the caliber and its ballistics that matter.
@@Capture_Torture_Liberalsyes it does longer barrel means higher velocity
10:18 there is a rifle rated helmet in use with the state police of north rhine westphalia in germany. Its called Hoplit 1100 H with Fortis add on plate. The manufracturer is Ullbrichts Protection.
I like how VHS aesthetic is finally gone full blown on your vids. good job Oxide and editor.
I am very impressed at the evolution of your editing. This video definitely feels like you've taken a big step in establishing your own style of entertainment. 👍
@ColinMor-fj3qc agree to disagree, besides if he didn't do this one then there is no need to hate on him.
One thing to consider in terms of poly vs aramid helmets is sensitivity to the elements - poly helmets are sensitive to mild temperatures (80C+ starts degrading the material), sensitivity to physical damage (dont drop it on concrete lol) - all of these will degrade its protective qualities. It also starts burning at fairly low temperatures (~200-300C iirc) Compare this to aramid helmets which dont burn, you can play football with it all day and doesnt give a shit about any elements thanks to the resin/aramid combo. Burns at about 800C.
The only thing you win with poly is better fragment protection - like significantly better. But it is all tradeoffs the other way.
The 762x39 msc protection without extra plates claimed by some manufacturers is bs because of deformation. I mean this video already shows how bad the deformation is when stopping pistol caliber rounds, now try 6x+ the energy. Maybe in the future, who knows...
You should try the Ulbrichts Boltless Helmet, it's an Austrian ballistic helmet and the company that make them, Ulbrichts, claims that the helmet is beyond NIJ 3A rating. While on the development process they not only focused on penetration but deformation too creating an all round product. I would love to see you test their claims.
She Team my Wendy until I fatally deform
[EXTREMELY LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER]
Hi Oxide,
As some guys said before me you should try to get an Ulbricht helmet if you looking in the rifle rated dimension. Their Zenturion C1300H is classic among the German SEK. Their newer VPAM6 also nice. But you might wanna check out the Mehler H5 helmet especially in the faceshield and extra protective shell equipped configuration ⚠️
how did u find out about mehler m5
mehler looks like a modernized/westernized maska
Really good test.
Backface deformation is hard to judge but the clay gives a good visual clue.
Important bit that was left out(or maybe I just missed it) in the advantages and disadvantages of each, was how the weights compared between them
People really obsess about weight... there isn't a substantial advantage in the difference here or I would've mentioned it. The Wendy is lighter though by just under a pound.
I personally think it still worth mentioning tho, just for transparency. Plus, shavings off even just a few hundred grams can result in quite a bit more cost to the helmet
@@chrisblack6258 Its a bullet point you can google. It isn't about transparency its about you wanting to get spoon fed
@@Oxide_does_his_best I mean, getting spoon fed is the entire point of UA-cam isn't it? Otherwise you will be reading actuall test reports.
@@Oxide_does_his_best Nearly a pound is a rather significant difference in weight.
As far as being spoon fed information, you're doing a comparison video about the pros and cons of different helmets, and didn't include a pretty significant thing that people look for.
Yes, that information is available, as is information about back face deformation, edge hits, multiple hits etc.
But if you're putting it all together for people, you can't get upset that people are asking about that sort of information
A nice follow up to your Ops-Core video, can’t wait to see the comment section blow up saying how you did it wrong again 🤣🤣
What I’m getting out of this is that there are benefits and drawbacks to each helmet material (assuming proper manufacture).
Mind = blown.
Busch does make a specifically rifle rated helmet, but it is quite heavy. Designed to be worn for shorter periods, like warrant service for LE.
Good to see a much improved test methodology
Bravo! Good Show!
I'm just glad I bought 2 boxes of M39B shit is decent.
you are doing the lord's work with these helmet tests
subbed just because of that banger intro, this editing is some of the best ive seen, keep your editor happy
I don't know oxide, why did they?
FBI SWAT units are using the AMP-1s, but their premier tactical unit, the Hostage Rescue Team still uses Crye Airframes and mostly recently, a mix of Team Wendy Exfils.
How recent is your information?
Reject Modernity (plastic armor), Embrace Tradition (aramid armor)
The amount of money that was involved in these tests is insane. You’re providing science that most of us could not provide
Never thought id see you putting Okra in one of your videos, i love his music and have followed him for a while. Thanks for the videos
The quality and presentation of these is 💎✨ Must absorb some of this energy.
The editing is "EPIC" .. luv the video bruh
Great video, very informative and concise. Exceptionally well put together presentation of the facts. Love it!
Would you consider a weapon series where you go in depth on various weapons and their variants such as the vast amount of AK variants and maybe go through calibers like 9x39, 9x21 and 9x18 etc. You already have a reputation for very detailed videos on Russian units, armors and helmets and I reckon it would be incredible to see the same care and detail put into reviewing small arms from around the world and throughout modern times. Respect from Australia.
yeahboi, new Oxide upload to start the weekend.
Thanks for your unique content, it's very much appreciated.
Awesome video! Could you do a rifle rated helmet video if possible? A HighCom Arditi is supposed to be rifle rated and cost roughly the same as Busch AMP-1TP for 2k+ USD for civilians. The Ops-Core FAST RF1 that is rifle rated cost around 3k. Wondering if the rifle rated ones will have much smaller deformation against rounds used in the video than their level 3A Polyethylene counterpart.
I will test all of those helmets, but they're expensive. Please donate!
@@Oxide_does_his_best If you do more helmet tests, take a look at the US Army's FHSDB (fatal head shot database). It's a recording of every fatal head shot a US soldier suffered since Vietnam (or possibly Korea?). I realize you're placing your shots to hit a clean area on the helmets and not pollute the results due to the costs of the helmets. But, taking as many shots as you can at locations were previous fatal shot occurred, when possible, would add a little something more to any future videos like this. Anyway, just sharing an idea - not really critiquing. Great job on this video guys!

New oxide video? Splendid
My new wallet is made out of Ultra100. Its a fabric that uses ultra high density polyethylene, with what I think is silnylon. Its an excellent fabric. I wonder how it reflects infared.
That is the dopest into I've ever seen bravo bro 👏🏿 🙌
good to see the team wendy perform fairly well, as they are standard issue for the military I work for.
The only argument you can make for any helmet is if you plan to need to survive multiple shots to the head you probably should consider another strategy. It’s not unheard of but with the way ballistics work in general the exception is more likely to be the rule.
The thing is that aramid helmet won't deform even against higher energy rounds on the first hit. The Wendy does. There are a million scenarios. IMO you'd be good with either helmet
*Ah Yes, another Oxide video! :)*
While the team wendy is more practical for a civilian, the fact the busch has so little deformation makes it appealing to those who expect to reuse their helmet, even after a few hits. These are both good helmets depending on what you are expecting to see in a given scenario.
I think the main point of helmets is to deflect bullets, not stop them. Most bullets that end up hitting them would probably not be direct impacts, as in they wouldn't hit the helmet head on but instead at a slight angle, which makes them a lot more likely to just graze off the helmets instead of penetrating them. Helmets have been known to save soldiers from .308 rounds hitting them in the head because they deflect off of the helmet. There's a video of a marine in the middle east getting shot in the head by a sniper and surviving with nothing but a scratched-up helmet.
Also helmets are there to stop fragmentation/shrapnel, which they are arguably better at than stopping bullets. I'm pretty sure most WW2 helmets were basically useless at stopping bullets, but were pretty alright at stopping fragmentation.
But I would still sure as fuck rather have a helmet than not have one. "Better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it"
One of the most important functions of a WW2 helmet is to literally act as a builder's hard hat, I.e. protecting you from falling debris. This is very relevant when you are getting bombarded by artillery, given that explosive shells tend to throw lots of rocks and dirt into the air.
4:28 Seeing the slowmo being recorded on the same phone that I'm watching this video on is pretty fun :)
Bros editing is magnificent
noncredibledefense solution: just put another thicc layer of polyethylene on top of the kevlar helmet. Perfect protection for penetration and deformation. Also perfect for absolute neck pain and disconfort :P
great editing!!
Awesome testing I really like the Aesthetics of the video I usually cringe when people try to use VHS pipe lettering or something in their video or music but this is original and I love it
love the 2000s skate video edit style
love the intro to the vid amazing style and music also great color work on that footage this vid is top teir
I know you mainly test military based armor and helmets, but I'd love to see you test some American brands to see how they hold up. They'd probably be alot easier to obtain and test too.
nearly all helmet manufacturers make helmets designed for military use, then sell them to Police as well. Busch is one of (if not the only) company in North America that focuses on law enforcement helmets, not military.
The fedhelm 💀
Do you think youll ever be able to test a highcom helmet? Them and some other companies supposedly have rifle rated helmets, and they weigh a lot for that protection.
Yeah definitely wondering that as well.
WELCOME BACK TO WILL IT PEN
Been holding off on my TW purchase until this video came out. I couldn’t ask for a better video
Hoplite Armor supposedly makes a rifle rated level 3 ACH. may be worth the look for a test
Oxide, out of pure curiosity what helmet in your opinion did the best that you have tested so far
I have a TW for work. Tbh it performed well enough for me here, and that coupled with the weight will keep it in my good graces.
Love your videos. I wanna see my Russian stuff though 😊
As someone who just upgraded from a Hard head Veterans to a Team Wendy, I can accept these differences.
I love tropics like these, because there is very little information about helmets and their real performance
Especially in high heat, high humidity jungles.
You should try to obtain one of ulbrichts new helmets, it utilises titanium to decrease bfd and penetration
There's a brand called United Shield that sells everything from helmets to face shields to riot to ballistic shields in grade Grainger. Not a lot of info on them.
As the wiki guy for vhs-decode this vhs "style" intro effect hurts my soul, good video though!
Bruh, your vids are amazing. I always enjoy.

Would be interesting to see you test the adept armor steel helmet.
Just curious, are you gonna do another tier list for the new set of helmets you're testing? And will the previous one eventually be made into a standalone video?
For your search Ulbrichts Protection (another german company) offers rifle rated helmets some with the trauma level VPAM 6 (7.62x39).
Btw Bush Protective is well known in Germany.
I like the idea of this helmet, I really hope it takes off and other channels review it. I’ll be a lot more likely to switch over if I could watch a video about this from someone without such a chip on their shoulder, I’m very interested
My life can wait oxide uploaded a video
TBH as long as it can stop a single round then the helmet has done it's job, I don't see a lot of situations where multiple rounds could realistically be stacked in the same area of a helmet while the person wearing that helmet is still alive and conscious, and that's from direct hits, most realistic scenario would probably see rounds "skipping" rather than stopping.
Yeah it’s a totally arbitrary thing. That’s why I wasn’t really sure how other more conventional helmets would do.
thanks for these videos they're great and informative
Unbelivibel how good your side is .
Totally was Team Busch, hopped on gunbroker, and promptly realized I'm too broke to be here right now picking sides, even shed a tear for the ones we lost in this video..
Have you ever thought about testing the up-armor applique for PASGTs? I say that like there's a lot of there. I only know of one indian company that developed one. Kinda wish I could get my hands on one.

He’s back!
one question, why aren't there any helmets combining polyethylene with dyneema/kevlar? Seems like a good way of compositing the properties of both.
it could be done with either layer composite or weave composite.
And adding a D3O layer to evenly-distribute any deformation...
For all we know some company is working on that now
There is, and you saw it in this video. It's called Team Wendy.
Dyneema is Polyethylene.
There are a lot of helmets that combine polyethylene with Kevlar, sometimes even with carbon fiber. Heck, the Team Wendy in the video use both. Same with Ops core. That’s why they are called hybrid shells. It’s just that different companies use different ratios, layups and forming methods.
His distance is about the same as what you would expect in MOUT environments.
Always kind of surprising that he just gets into it. Used to at least 3-5 minutes of random chatter and ads.
I have always wanted you to test the Diamond Age Bastion helmet which is described as rifle rated, as well as the Adept NovaSteel Helmet
