Broccoli is very high in choline too. Why is this not mentioned? As I understand it - choline can produce these dangerous byproducts when fermented in the large intestine - but not if our bodies absorb it prior to that. So the choline in eggs I'm assuming will be fat soluble and therefore digested BEFORE it has a chance of fermenting, but Broccoli will sit and ferment in our intestines. Why is this not all covered in the video?

@@androz38 High for a plant food, plus you mention a pretty small serving size for comparison. Many people including me eat a large amount of broccoli. I eat 150g per day, so that works out at 124 which is similar to an average egg. It would make sense to mention that it poses a danger - if the train of logic is consistent.

I think you don't even understand what our human ancestors ate for thausands of generations. Look at our nearest living ancestors today, like Gorillas or Bonobos, which share over 96% DNA with us. They don't eat any animal products beside some Insects eventually.
The scientific data is clear, animal products are unhealthy for us, research it on NutritionFacts.org.
Or, when you don't trust the theory, just test it in practice! Do some Bloodwork before and after eating a wholefood plantbased diet, the results will speak for themselves.

You can't get all your nutrition from plants alone in any one region of the world. Therefore this debunks "what our ancestors ate". What they ate was mostly meat; fact. You can get all the nutrients required for life in organ meats. But you would have to travel the world over to get the right mix of plant foods to do the same; debunking your theory in it's infancy.

I am experimenting with WFPB. I read and research, but I am not an expert. I don't think people should be dismissive of the possibility that there are pitfalls with a vegan diet that must be addressed (as is the case with any diet) so I don't think you are off base considering supplementation in some areas. However, research seems to show that supplementation is not an effective method of getting choline. Furthermore, the research from the Cleveland Clinic (the primary source of the TMAO research) shows that supplementing with choline can indeed produce some of the same negative TMAO effects as meat and eggs. It's not entirely clear if choline supplements produce these negative effects in people who are WFPB, but given the fact that choline supplements are probably not effective I would say that they are not worth the risk and expense. That said, I do believe we need to make sure we get enough choline for brain and nervous system health. From what I read, an adult male needs around 500 mg per day and our bodies do not produce enough to get us there. So that means we need to get some from our food. Google plant sources of choline to see which ones fits in with your diet. Google "Cleveland Clinic TMAO" if you want to see some of the research they have done.

@@profd65 profd65 Think about it like this. Why does every vegan need to supplement b12, If the diet was really so perfect you'd not need to supplement anything. Trust me vegans even need much more then b12. I'm talking zinc, iron, retinol, calcium. Vegan foods are not bioavailable so even if you think your 200% RDA is enough, it isn't because only 20% will be absorbed, so 40% RDA. It's craziness and takes time to expose nutritional deficiency and when it does and all vegans have deformed children and their own health issues after a few years. That will be when you regret your decisions.

Dr Greger promotes (vegetarian) since he became vegetarian and sells books and promotes the vegan diet so its expected that some research be against non-vegan while Dr Eric Berg assures eggs are safe and he personally have been eating it for many years (well not only him, including me and rest of the world pretty much) so I won’t change my diet I will eat eggs, fish, and meat in moderation but I won’t be 100% vegan for the rest of my life. I give my full respect and appreciation to Dr Greger’s research but not all the research articles are perfect. I managed to lower my cholesterol when I used to eat a lot daily by switching to a strictly vegan diet for a week but in the long-run moderation dictates the most. we are mortal humans, we are not immortals, eventually we will die either by an ugly end, unexpected, or disease so moderation was my best answer + fasting + intermittent fasting. money, time, and location could influence and dictates our diet habits so it could be tough on some people in this life.

I search keywords like “why i quit vegan” or “keto” or anything else, i got fed up, everyone becomes celebrity then they do the next step “sell their book” everyone does this ! even the president.. now wether they are right or wrong this part is quiet deep but i am glad after many years i found out moderation works the best, avoid processed food (they add nitrate and color) wheat has gluten and heavily processed and distributed because its makes a lot of money for both (you pay for it and you pay for your health later!) I disagree with Dr Greger a bout meat debate but i learned a lot from him from the vegan side because he does a lot of research, but don’t fall into the trap! just don’t agree to everything either him or anyone says (even me) because you need to do your own research for it as well, if you trust people 100% you are simply a blind follower, you need to discover the truth yourself as well 👍

Where does TMAO come from, and how do we stop it?
One place is carnitine, which is in red meat. Another is choline, which is a product of lecithin in *egg yolks* Carnitine and choline are broken down by bacteria in our guts, which, we now know, turn them into TMAO.

after we grown up and started chatting here we already ate everything we could (along with our ancestors) and now i guess its time we tell the fishermen to stop fishing and lions to start eating grass, otherwise why we learned also about the danger of Gluten and lectins from the plant food diet? people ate bread and meat and today we have to say goodbye to meat? after we got the best iron source and complete amino acid chain from meat. I also followed the snake diet along with the keto diet... in the end moderation is king, fasting and intermittent fasting as well. @@rajulrathi9886 I know from history the ancestors who became educated and smart ate meat, I don't know about the people before them 🤷‍♂️ we have no records about them and no history to talk about, its not documented except where they went and where they died. humans survived eating both, plants and meats (no question about it), whether they went to Africa or to colder regions I don't know how much education they had in order to live longer and (to learn how they cook their meat!), but from history of people who were documented and exist in history cooked meat was around at their time. A Lion's food is different than a cow's food, you can't force nature to work different, you never existed before and neither I to change it, what makes us survive today is our genetics and adoption to environment, you should be happy that you can digest meat instead of limiting your human abilities to plants or fruits or nuts. Humans can eat both. Plants have poisonous and dangerous things on them (Gluten, phytic acid, etc..) and Meat needs to be cooked to eliminate germs and harmful bacteria. fishermen survived by eating fish, desert people survived eating whatever they find in the desert and people in extreme conditions survived in food (you can't eat !!! no question about these facts!) what's important to know as well our genetics, why human lost some abilities they used to have through many generations? because they don't use it! you are reprogramming your genetics over and over again. You stop eating meat, you might have a hard time to eat it in the future ! I don't know, I just learned Japanese people have a better digestion system in digesting seaweed than the rest of the world because of their microbiomes . Keep your body moving and your digestion working. If you became older your digestion will get older along with you and then... switch to your favorite vegan diet. Make it your retirement plan ! enjoy your life and investigate why everything (either Meat or the Vegan diet don't work) and from there you will know the truth. right now everyone is targeted from different corporation that seek business opportunities, whether its GMO soy industry sells seeds to other countries to feed million of cows or GMO plants that goes into processed food (products) and into the next generation children stomach , all kinds of things, so the subject about being Vegan or meat eater doesn't matter anymore, no need to stretch it because no one is going to live over 200 or 500 years and if anyone plans to do then good people and bad people will want as well and neither you will like it or your offspring as well. Image you a have a boss you hate working with for over 100 years lol... just do what you like and try to survive in the current Covid virus situation by getting injection from a company that doesn't give injection to their employees (go figure)
