Let's put it this way... I would not want to arm wrestle that girl... NOPE NOPE NOPE yeah a navy marine engineer saying that. She is going built that is for sure. She just might even clear the bar.
As a young boy in the early 70's working in my dads circle saw sawmill at the end of the shift he would get out of his chair and make a note of how many board feet of lumber he had sawed for that shift. All that math served him well as he went to work in a bank after the logs dried up. He ended up being President of the Bank of Barron. You are learning many skills on your great adventure. Use them!!
That’s a good idea, look around for an old/used belt conveyor with an electric motor and your in business. A good place to look would be some old farms or maybe a machinery rental place. They already have a couple dump trailers but a covered one would be nice. That would save a few hours a week pretty easily.
I hope that Jade is is able to learn the controls too; maybe switch jobs after a certain time. A business needs more than one operator, in case of sickness or accidents, etc. The more people that can operate the mill, the better for the business.🙂
@@Spaltyslife, My Grandma use to say, “If you’re going to wish for something, wish for a million dollars. Every now and then wishes come true and there ain’t no sense in wasting one!” Lol

That mill cuts in reverse, which when I see it in action, is a huge improvement in material flow. Making use of that difference will be important to realize the productivity gains you're looking for.
Congratulations on the upgrade from the LT40 to the LT70 Wide. That log deck is going to improve production as well. Fill the deck and no manual after that. Yanmar engines are well known. I saw the removal of the old and install of the new. To see you folks working it was very pleasing. Larger price tag but long term, Your Dad is a smart man. So is your Grandpa. Say Hi to the family and wish you the best.
I can see where that automated loading table already saves you time and your back! You have to trust the machine and your eyesight with that cutting from the other end. Have fun and best of luck with the new mill.
I so love your videos youngin. My Great grandfather and Grandfather were both loggers who came over from Ireland in 1804. It brings back so many great memories thank you Emerald for all y'all do🥰👍🙋♂️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🐕🐕
I could hear the engine only when you first started it. That machine is quick! Jade might need Judah to help get those glitches trimmed. Y'all might need Mom to load logs onto the mill. I can see production doubled or even tripled. All hands on deck!
Higher productivity always means less standing around. The workers work harder, and the boss makes more money, that is just the way it works. Believe me I know. It is a great machine. This is not the only channel that has one.
That's true. The one guy I USE to watch would sometimes cut 2 maybe 3 logs a day with all the discussion, explaining and measuring to get the center jussst right. I don't know how, once you figure out the final location, that you can't build a nice shelter for it. That's simply too much money to just leave out in the elements. Heated would of course be great for both equipment and you ladies, but let's start with a roof and sides. That beast definitely moves at least 2x faster and probably faster than that. Be thoughtful to Jade and don't bury her, you are still sisters😂😂. Don't necessarily try to cut faster, but just let it happen. You look pretty smooth already and as you get more familiar with the controls you'll get faster and think less. Really happy for your family with this new mill and the "new" skidder getting into service😊😊😊
I watch both. I love him too, but he’s lazy. He’s uncomfortable cutting at full speed and that causes rough cuts. They do need his dust collection system though.
Em and Jade; excellent video. Em, you are more and more professional and beautiful each time I see you. Jade, you are keeping right up with that thing like a pro. Tending, placing and adjusting the stacks as they grow and grow and grow. Jade needs to be in on the operation of the mill too for her resume. And that machine is something to behold. Please figure out how to put a canopy over it and in the area where the tenders work so the mill and you both will have some refuge from the elements and the sun. Being outdoors is great, but it can be overwhelming with time. Thank You Both for a beautiful show today and please have A Great Day. ben/ michigan
I think the hardest thing for me to get accustomed to would be the blade coming AT me instead of the way you previously had it, but it makes some sense in that the planks are pushed away from the unit with much more room. Gold luck girls!
Yup, it’s faster. Might be a good idea to ask Jade’s advice if there are any changes that you can do to help her swamp the slabs, flitches, and board lumber coming off. Just so that you don’t have to wait and can keep the mill going at 90%.
Really pleased you’re in a position to make the choice to upgrade your equipment. Hopefully UA-cam is getting you a decent financial boost. You deserve massive success on the platform Girls and your family are fantastic. All the best to you all from us across the pond in sunny Southwest England.
Wow!! The speed of that LT 70 is amazing. It resembles what we call in backwoods Alabama a "shotgun" that can be run by either steam or an MG set. My background is in veneer mills so it even seems all the more amazing to me. I'm finding you channel to be a valuable educational resource.
It will never be like a shotgun carriage. Or the even faster pony mills. Quite simply the technology of the saw blades is the limitation and as for ever running with a blade that's blunt is crazy. Accuracy and production are paramount. I once looked at buying the stationery LT300 which is basically identical but backed out when I found that even a small wide bandsaw would use less power and cut in an hour what these mills do in a day. Get upto the big wide band saws and shotgun carriage mills and a days cutting would take the best woodmizer a month.
That long table off set from the pile causes Jade a lot of extra work. Why not feed the cut lumber straight off the end (remove the added roller section) and then move the pile with the fork lift ? Lighter Slabs to one side. Sticker it as you go. Em needs a pair of cup holders on the console.
OK- that log loader is amazing. Keep working hard, keep building the business, Onward!! Success awaits. Teamwork, baby, teamwork. You guys are doing it right.
Sooo much faster! And no more rolling logs! You're days will fly by because you both are constantly moving. Might have to get Jade some running boots!😂 Great job you two!

The Robert Milton dragback modification that kinda hooks the board so it won't fall is an interesting idea! I will watch how things settle out at LCLY and make sure they know this idea. The way I see it, the flitches and slabs will need to go as far back on the table as possible and other lumber may need to drop off sooner.
yes. as soon as he stops, it lets the load down wherever he wants. It seems it would save work stopping at the far end for stuff that goes there. I enjoy watching the crew. Best regards, Doc. Henderson.@@scottsoper
