This Warhammer 40k McFarlane line has accomplished something very rare for me. They made me deep dive into a new lore. Now I’m reading the novels loving the new universe I found.

It's worth noting that the artist proof version does not have any of the Blood Angel iconography (like the sculpted left shoulder emblem), which is great because it allows you to paint it in any Chapter colours you please. I don't mind the basic paint job on the Sister. It will just act as a base coat for all the additional painting I wiill do to it. Now that McFarlane has done Intercessors, Assault, and HellBlaster marines, hopefully they will make some new molds, like Eradicators and Reivers. And a Genestealer would make a good Xenos armybuilder.
I have both of the space marine figures. And their heads are definitely swappable. And that’s how they’re going to stay. For me at least. The colors work surprisingly well actually

@@jonathanhampshire6856 Citadel paint (Warhammer paint). Will probably use Army Builder paint too. Any good model paint will work but Citadel is my go-to.

Never played Warhammer but I love the designs, the characters and those Flashgitz videos the space marines keep appearing in lol. Also the marines are supposed to be 8 feet to 10 feet tall so I think these figures scale great with s.h. figuarts, revoltech and figma figures.
These are helpful for understanding a minimalistic paint scheme for the actual miniatures, having it blow up 500% makes it much more clear where you can skip details.
Didn't expect that quality for a $30 toy. As a toy/model kit collector for over 20 years. The quality of these toys is more like 60-80 dollars to be honest. Got myself the super marine first and now I'm waiting for the necron warrior and sister of battle to arrive at my doorstep. Can't wait!
Here's hoping for some unique chapter armor designs. I was excited to see the Raven guard on the way, until pics came out and its just a black and white repaint with nothing special.
i think the battle sister needs A LOT of extra decoration. like...all the details are there, but not painted. gold trim on shoulder plates, torso, greaves and she will look a lot more baroque.
I actually added some silver paint apps and panel lined my Devastator Marine, he looks so much better because of it, and it’s already a great looking figure for the price.
Had McFarlane gone to the extent of having a helmet-less head , this would have made her a worthwhile kit to buy - but as it, not so sure I'd want her in a collection.
The Battle Sisters feet suck. The figure ends up being top heavy and the feet articulation makes it difficult to stand independently. The included stand does not work well with it either.
It's a helpful point of articulation, point blank. It keeps figures from having their legs locked in a neutral up and down pose, kick the legs out a little bit more and help with dynamic posing. Almost every figure has something there, so it's odd to not have it in so many figures from McFarlane.
Try getting into any stance but keeping your knees 100% straight forward. Pretty unnatural, right? Now you understand how much articulation your body gets from the thigh.
@@unagisauce Yeah but that rotation actually comes mostly from the hip. That's why hip ball joints are preferable. I'm all for additional articulation but thigh cuts are ugly - there's a reason why you don't see them much on the best modern figures, unless they're cleverly worked into the sculpt or hidden.
@@gez9145 A ball joint at the hip can only turn so far because it runs into the piece holding it. Personally, I prefer the way Figuarts does their Shinkocchou Seihou line with the hidden thigh cuts near the hips. Regardless of how it’s implemented though, that’s what reviewers are talking about. Thigh rotation = thigh swivel.

Mcfarlane is a shit brand, I hope they read this. But also, the scale is way off, the sister should be an inch shorter or the marine should be an inch taller, I hate that now either I'm collecting one or the other since their scaling is way wrong

blues match well, reds less so
Battle sisters are not enhanced like Space Marines. They're just normal folks in power armour.
The sister is not to scale with the marine, unless she is 7" tall.
That's a Primaris Marine. Closer to 9". So yeah, Sister is scaled way too tall. Sisters are 5'11, Emperor's holy number...
Good review, I love the sculpt on these but not the paint jobs. I picked up the unpainted versions.

There are custom printed heads for mcfarlane warhammer figures on ebay. Including helmetless sister heads.
SoB looks good, like circ classic figures good, on par with certain Batman ones, the Space Marines,.....you have to repaint it, its out of place,

Agreed I missed the first wave so building a chapter is out, so now I'm just gonna turn my Marine into an Inquisitor to go with the sisters.
