BMW Vanos Removal | BMW E36 & E39 | M50 & M52 TU Engine

Hi, in this video, I'll show you how to do a BMW Vanos Removal Step-by-step on a BMW M52 / M52 TU engine, as fitted to BMW E36 (323i, 325i, 328i) and E39 cars (523i, 525i, 528i). It is necessary to remove the single Vanos completely from the engine if you want to repair it and yes, it can be a bit of a tricky job, but this How To video seeks to show you what is involved in the work.
To Remove a M50 / M52 Vanos, you will need some specialist tools that allow you to lock the engine timing and to advance the exhaust camshaft position, which frees off the single vanos so that it can be removed from the car. I will list some of these tools below, but please do your research or ask questions of the sellers to make sure that they suit your engine as the M52 Vanos and engines do vary some during production and in different regions.

Yes I do! Basically, the way I plan my work is just fixing what comes up as a problem on my small fleet of cars. The Merc has been pretty reliable, I’ve had the wheel bearing adjustment job a few months ago, the recent dead battery problem was on my Merc. @@eriksony6398 Sorry for the slow reply! Thank you for the offer, I already have a Merc Scanner, it is a TopDon Artidiag, can't remember the model but it does "almost" everything I need it to do. I'm having a problem with "SOS not ready" and it's the telecommunications unit that needs to be coded in (long story but it is from another car) but my understanding is that this is beyond most scanners and you need software and a device to do coding... but if your device can do this, give me a shout and I'd be glad to feature it!
