I appreciate that you keep your kids in your videos. You allow them to be a natural part of your cooking /discussing without editing them out or making it “picture perfect “ which it turn makes it actually perfect in its representation of motherhood .❤️ thank you
Thanks for the recipe - looks amazing and nutritious. Aso it's very cool that you let your kids all be around and don't edit them out from the final video you upload. All the best and greetz from Berlin / Germany.
That looks beautiful and delicious!! I love seeing how you adapt GAPS recipes to what your family prefers and also to be even more GAPS compliant. I know we’re not supposed to eat too many bread-type products on GAPS, but I would love to see any other GAPS bread recipes your family enjoys (like the muffins you just did).
Looks good! Try using Key limes next time. They taste different from Persian limes. You need to add the zest of several limes to add the fragrance of limes to the pie. Interestingly Key lime pies have toasted coconut on top, so the crust works well for this!
WOW, that looks absolutely delicious. My kids would love that. We're on stage 4 but I didn't think citrus was allowed until the full GAPs diet due to the acid in citrus fruit? I've so much to learn. Thank you so much xx
Thanks! Yes, the citrus thing is something where there are different opinions. Dr. Becky quotes Dr. Natasha as saying it's okay at this stage. I would treat it individually: try it and see how your body does. Hope that helps!
Hi all, I have the cook book she referred to. I looked up the recipe, and it says 1/2 cup of home fermented sour cream. I think she substituted kefir for the sour cream.
Yes! This is the one: www.azurestandard.com/shop/product/food/baking-pantry/flavorings-extracts/pure/vanilla-extract/vanilla-extract-pure-organic/13700?package=BP159&a_aid=bH7Rv4Dgy2
This recipe contains a LOT of fat (which balances blood sugar), so you might find it's okay :) But you still feel like you need an alternative, I would try liquid stevia drops.
Hi Marisa! Im not sure if you have covered this anywhere but I just found the Gut and PHYSIOLOGY book and am wondering if there is a different healing protocol or is the GAPS diet the same for that as well? I LOVE your channel and im so thankful I found you!
Thank you so much! Great question. Yes, Dr. Natasha's newest book is fantastic! The GAPS protocol is the same, but she includes so much more information in her new book. Hope that helps!
Thanks :) Great question! Yes, butter is allowed as tolerated. If there are dairy sensitivity concerns, Dr. Natasha recommends following her Dairy Introduction Protocol.
I know you said this recipe is for stage 4 and I’m about to start that stage! 😃 However I haven’t added Kefir yet. I have been eating homemade grass fed ghee for some time now, so grass fed butter would be ok? And honey is ok at stage 4 also? I read in the gaps book that if Candida is an issue then stay away from honey? Am I reading that right?
@@bumblebeeapothecary if I got some local honey I’d use it in that recipe. Maybe at least half. And I would try not to eat the whole pie at one sitting LOL

The little chef is in the house. Laughed out loud when I saw that little finer come in for a taste.

I will try it today... is simple and looks grate! I only have lemons... will be okay if I switch, right?
Yes I think that would work!

Thanks for the info! Yes, I used 1/2 cup of kefir cultured cream :)
Thanks! I was like.. oops.. how much of a kefir thing? 😂
Thanks for the info!
Hi
Can you please let me know vanilla you use
Yes! This is the one: www.azurestandard.com/shop/product/food/baking-pantry/flavorings-extracts/pure/vanilla-extract/vanilla-extract-pure-organic/13700?package=BP159&a_aid=bH7Rv4Dgy2
Didn’t hear the measurement for the cultured cream and how do you make that?
Sorry I think that got left out! I add 1/2 cup kefir cultured cream :)
What can you substitute for the honey? Too high on glycemic index for me.

Your son is so cute at 5:54! When he keeps touching the filling.
Is butter allowed on the GAPS diet btw? Because of its dairy/lactose content
Thanks :) Great question! Yes, butter is allowed as tolerated. If there are dairy sensitivity concerns, Dr. Natasha recommends following her Dairy Introduction Protocol.
Hi. If I am not doing the GAPS diet can I still eat this pie?
Absolutely! I've served it to non GAPS people quite a few times and everyone loves it :)
This looks so good! In case there are leftovers (I doubt it! 😅) how long would this keep in the fridge?
Great question! We've only had it last for a day or two :)

You can use ghee instead of butter, and raw honey is allowed from stage 1. If you haven't added kefir yet you can add yogurt.
Your recipe looks amazing, however I am allergic to eggs.
Is there an ingredient to replace eggs? TIA
You might be able to just leave them out of this recipe, and it would probably still work!
Can you put the recipe pls
Sure!
Crust:
2 heaping cups shredded coconut
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
Bake at 350ºF for 12 minutes, let cool
Filling:
3 ripe avocados
1 cup softened butter
1/2 cup cultured cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup raw honey
Juice of 4 - 8 limes
Enjoy!
that looks like it wouldn't have too many carbs for keto
Yes! I think for keto you'd need to use a different sweetener than honey, but otherwise it would work!
