    Complicated but still does not explain why my incumbent is titled as Rector. The church was founded in 1751 but only became a parish in it's own right in 1830. Any ideas?

    Another layer of complication was added in England in the late 20th century when some churches were grouped together in Team Ministries. The most senior priest serves as Team Rector, usually based at the largest church in the Team Ministry. He or she has overall responsibility for all the Team churches, and is responsible (alongside the bishop) for appointing junior clergy (who have already served a curacy elsewhere) to serve as Team Vicars with responsibility for one or more of the other churches in the Team Ministry.
