@@spooky4223 That's... what being in a combo is. If the Yoshi does a normal combo without the guardbreak setup after the bound, you're dead anyways. It may not look like a conventional combo since it gives you the freedom to move, but the fact that it guarantees a hit makes it act like a combo so, best not to challenge it. Bottomline: think of the ground hit as "part of the combo", unless you want to challenge it and now it becomes a guard break instead.
I mean Yoshi is nearly the same he has been in most tekken games, with slight differences and some new moves, however people are complaining more about Yoshi in Tekken 8 because they are seeing MORE of him, yet he was barely picked in tekken 7, every blue moon you'd see one and even now he still isnt even among the most played compared to Brian, Dragonov etc, this isnt down playing, ppl on Tekken 8 have shown to play whats broken, yet stats dont lie, why isnt he among the top pick rates, ppl complain he's broken or complain he is hard to play, which one is it?
Most of the big changes he has revolve around the heat mechanic anyway, which every character got. What really changed is the effectiveness of his existing tools. Big example is the Flash range. Another is making FF3, 1+2 into a solid pressure sequence. Yoshi is still playing the way he used to, it's just that now his tools are more effective and to a degree, more abusable.
OH MY GOD THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. Bro i’ve been complaining about this character since T8 came out. It’s even worse since I play lars and I had to deal with flash + getting hit by a guaranteed rage art through my dynamic entry 3 (which is the spin kick) because it used to force you into stance with no safe option until they made it +5. Did you know that he can actually flash you out of lars dynamic entry? Yeah it’s not an attack, it’s a stance entry but i’ve been dealing with that bs for months. Every time I try to stance cancel against a yoshi I eat a flash so I just don’t. He just stops you from taking your hard earned offensive options and opportunities for mixup.
Yoshi is only broken for mashers or people who don’t understand how to take advantage of spacing. The only time I have a chance to get blasted by Yoshi is when they are tekken king or better. He’s a unique character that forces you to not play aggressive up close, but you can dominate him from the long/mid range. His only threats from the mid range are bad stomach, NSS forward 1+2, and evasive spin as long as you play 3D. Turtle any inexperienced yoshi from mid range or further and he’ll literally lose the round for himself. Only thing I agree with is damage nerfs.
This is not related much but this is my first tekken game coming from like mk and sf and i dont play that much i need to know even if a character gets nerfed is it still good ive been using easy as charcs like victor jun and normal characterslike reina and yoshi even though all have a skill ceiling including the basic basically dumb question are all tekken 8 charcs viable right now im still tryna find a main between reina victor jun and yoshi also this vid is telling me alot about yoshi cause im thinking hes a over the top mid character but my thoughts have changed of how he actually is and see hes much more Edit:what's a normal charc not like drag or king/yoshi thanks man good vid
Dude maybe i am a crybaby but Yoshi, Paul, Xiaoyu, King, Law, Feng, Jin, Drag, Alisa all of them feel so tiring to fight against. I don't wanna play ranked after 5-10 matches cause all people play this characters. Kazuya is also tiring but people will curse me if i say his name cause he is "honest". We need a mod that shuts up Law's voice. Hwoarang is tiring too. "Just sidestep and duck his string bro". Idk man this game needs a change. I know people do not consider him a high tier, i do not too but still high tier chars are not fun to play against there are people in blue - yellow ranks who have 40-50 defense.
Xiaoyu its not in the same league than the others, i main her and if u lab her, ull understand her tools arent as strong as ppl think and not even close to the others monsters u mention (except paul i dont consider him broken, he has some shit but i can deal with him, most of the time), to play ling u need to have a very good movement and play mindgames. U forgot to put Nina there. Hwoarang is complicated, i consider him the worst char in the game but i think it could be fixed just nerfing a bit 2 or 3 moves he have, like right stance df3. That shit should be a high and not a mid.
there is one thing you have not mentioned about the guard break : while you're in the bound state, you can just watch yoshi do KIN 2 and react to it and just lie down, take the damage, and it's -14 so yoshi gets no oki or carry and all it is is a glorified max damage combo ender. i think yoshi has some overtuned tools like enhanced 1,1 which is completely broken, but i really don't see what all the fuss is about with the guard break, it's literally just a knowledge check, and not "guaranteed" as you say.
@@blackheart59_ i just understood that you meant the guard break itself was guaranteed. i was trying to explain that if you know to stay down, all it is is a knowledge check and it just serves as a max damage combo ender that takes away both oki and wall carry. and i fail to realize how this is considered a problem.
My brother in Christ both foward 1+2 and his low unblockable are free launch on start up take away his spin? Okay sure give him a normal side step since his normal sidestep is the worst in the game. If you fall for an unblocked twice thats on you lmao. Back 22 being A 14 frame punish is whatever literally every character can punish some even launch at 14 frames his hop knee is punishable on block. Also he had the shortest heat in the game it drains super quickly
Used to talk shit about yoshi, but not now bcs using him is not actually as easy he need the mentallity to commit everything, like his unblockable, or even thinking next setup next trap or next high frame moves. i agree flash is too good, its destroy how yoshi iis especially came from tekken 7 players, and his damage is kinda insane since i main lee before as u say he have bad punishment, bad poke, and i dont know but giving him better neutral tools doesnt it gonna make every character play the same? why the needs to make everyone general? why not be diffferent?
I thought Yoshi was already quite good in T7, just clunky and hard to play. In T8 he is more streamlined than ever, with gigantic buffs in every department. I've been saying he's OP since day 1, seems people are only just figuring it out. Thanks for the video!
The thing is they didn't balance good at all in this game, he still has all his evasion and gimmicks but now on top of it he has STUPID damage... if you're going to give a character a dumb amount of evasion, then you need to compensate for it in another way. Like T7, he always had his crazy evasion and stupid shit but his damage was trash. Same as Ling, now they have both the evasion, stupid damage, and crazy 50/50 options as well. Also his spin should take away way more health with how much it lets you get out of...
I main yoshi and yeah those hitbox issues definitely need fixing. Id rather not give him better lows and ws punishment to compensate but do agree with toning down/removing loopable oki options. I think the best oki setups should be situational but the new f1+2 can be done anytime with the wall. By the same token I'm also not a fan of the strength of heat/nss 1,1. Its cool that yoshi is top tier but the broken stuff needs to be fixed and any nerfs/changes should be in a way to keep his tricky identity.
@@idontknowwhattous3 Em so what now he is. What's your point her😂😂😂. on top of talking abbout it, did you ever talk about it with other yoshi mains on what their thoughts are on the character since they would know a lot more than just surface level knowledge of the character.
I see that people call him S tier because his hit box is garbage. But they don’t care that it works against him more than with him. I wish I have recorded all the stupid shit I’ve been through when I used to play him. it would be 10 hours long. This character won me many matched because of some stupid op setups, but also lost many many matches becuase my wr3 for no reason jumped over my opponent. Or the d2,2 made me go through my opponent. Or the opponent did a 360 on me after I spinned. But no one cares. Many examples. They only care if the Yoshi is the one robbing. Thats why I will never call him S tier. Broken is the better term. Fix him. Literally been two months since I played him in ranked he is unplayable both with and against.
I play a lot of character incl yoshimitsu.. i think yoshi is strong vs scrubs but mid vs pros.. if you think you know tekken but you actually dont know tekken.. he will blow you up
You dont even need to use heat to launch you can just down foward 2 there's a set up to launch after guard break and that should be nerfed but honestly everything else are things yoshi had like his spin will never be nerfed because his side step sucks
Hes had this spin since forever and he wasn't broken in Tekken 7. He was very much mid to low tier its his tekken 8 kit stop acting like its what makes him broken when its not.
so, lidia in her release in t7 had one of the most broken hopkocks in the game as well as hella whiff recovery to set that up, this is documented. yoshis hopkick has been this way...just pointing out the lack of insight or straight up bias
spin was actually stronger in t7, where it could dodge homing moves. no longer here. guard break is broken and stupid your problem is with heat for a majority of the video.....as i suspect with a lot of yoshi complaints.
And he also has a very good tracking with all his sword moves... Ye he need some atention, even when i win most of the yoshis i find, ling has ways to deal with his shit if u read what is coming next. Actually i think there r chars that have some broken moves, but they arent op as a whole; but there r some chars that need urgent nerfs that severely affect their gameplan and that chars are: dragunov, jin, law, alisa, king, shaheen, feng and nina. Other than that r just little fixes to some moves. I dont know if you agree, do u agree? Im good at analytical thinking but i dont have all the chars at GoD so, what do u think?

And on top of that he has really good homming moves like 1+2 f 2, d3+4 3+4, u1+2 f 2, d3+4 4, u1+2 f 1+2... So, what u said it has little sense to nonsense at all... I dont remember the name of all the stances so i just put the commands. And i left a lot out of this comment... @αλεξηςπεγιαδης funny you should mention sin however since yhe first post on his twitter is how yoshis spins can get hit by homing. hope that helps bum :)
Yoshi main here. Coming in to Tekken 8 yoshi is way obvertuned. I think his evasive nature and flash is core parts of his identity. However… his damage is beyond retarded. The guaranteed guarbreak along with the hop kick, 1,1 and massive plus frames are the main issues. I played vigorously in t7 and the highest I got was Ruyjin (which I feel is somewhat respectable). But even without properly labbing his new oki setups, wall pressure and optimising of combos, I got him to Tekken king in t8 fairly easily. What made the character balanced in t7 was the fact that you had to use all the tools in his movelist. His lack of frames and damage helped a lot with toning his then broken nature down. But most importantly you had to know the matchups. In t8 you can mash to your hearts content. I’ve mostly played kaz and Bryan as I feel yoshi isn’t the same character he was that made him worth playing. Like Ling, I feel like his gameplay has resorted to every yoshi using the same broken strings and mechanics, rather than the expressive and uniqe identity you could see in most yoshis in t7.
im seeing more and more Yoshi rants lately ppl are finally waking up . this is the true monster of this game. not Feng, not King or Xiaoyu.its this guy ,the most downplayed character in the game . u pretty much covered everything i hate about him
No one should be this strong. Its not about Yoshi spesificly but Yoshi sure shouldnt be that strong thats whole another point. A character whose whole kit plays around weird gimmicks shouldnt have that much of a damage and strong tools. It's not good for the game. 😊
He kept his identity of an evasive trickster, lost the drawbacks that made him balanced and has been given REAL tekken tools to the point that he doesn't need to be played as a trickster because he can play solid. When you combine those playstyles he is quite literally unstoppable. Most chars are broken in some way but Yoshi is something special imo. He is top 1 potential wise.
Quite bad review of a character that is a mid tier at best. Sure he's got strong evasion, but it's much less rewarding and much harder to counter with, unlike a sidestep. He's got some of the wonkiest hit boxes on attacks and weakest tracking in the whole game too making it very inconsistent, also failed to mention nearly all his attacks are negative frames and very heavy at that too, making it so he has nearly 0 pressure. 1 1 being unsafe? Are you real? I've never seen such basic 2 punch combo being unsafe on the whole tekken series 😂. There's characters who can literally spam launchers, hyper armor and strings for 10 seconds straight and be still safe and plus Frames dude. Yoshi is peculiar, he got wierd tools but is FAR from being op. Not to mention a 1 1 is an instant turnaround of momentum if you even just block being -9.

If im 10 hp im dead since theres no counter play beside take the hit.
@@blackheart59_ it would do less dmg to get hit by guard break lying down rather than a proper full combo from yoshi
He is not SLIGHTLY different, he's almost a different character now
Most of the big changes he has revolve around the heat mechanic anyway, which every character got.
Yeah he's too much in this game
Yoshi is only broken for mashers or people who don’t understand how to take advantage of spacing. The only time I have a chance to get blasted by Yoshi is when they are tekken king or better. He’s a unique character that forces you to not play aggressive up close, but you can dominate him from the long/mid range. His only threats from the mid range are bad stomach, NSS forward 1+2, and evasive spin as long as you play 3D. Turtle any inexperienced yoshi from mid range or further and he’ll literally lose the round for himself. Only thing I agree with is damage nerfs.
Mmmmmmmmmm
Why is it when you delay yoshis wall combo 3,2 1+2 it does more damage? Is that a bug?
Cause it gets them on the low part of the wall, scaling is different
This is not related much but this is my first tekken game coming from like mk and sf and i dont play that much i need to know even if a character gets nerfed is it still good ive been using easy as charcs like victor jun and normal characterslike reina and yoshi even though all have a skill ceiling including
the basic basically dumb question are all tekken 8 charcs viable right now im still tryna find a main between reina victor jun and yoshi also this vid is telling me alot about yoshi cause im thinking hes a over the top mid character but my thoughts have changed of how he actually is and see hes much more
Edit:what's a normal charc not like drag or king/yoshi thanks man good vid
every character is viable ^^
Kazuya is as brain-dead as other chats right now
@blackheart59_ Yes Kaz is just branded 50/50 I'm so glad you agree. Can you do a video about him?
Xiaoyu its not in the same league than the others, i main her and if u lab her, ull understand her tools arent as strong as ppl think and not even close to the others monsters u mention (except paul i dont consider him broken, he has some shit but i can deal with him, most of the time), to play ling u need to have a very good movement and play mindgames. U forgot to put Nina there. Hwoarang is complicated, i consider him the worst char in the game but i think it could be fixed just nerfing a bit 2 or 3 moves he have, like right stance df3. That shit should be a high and not a mid.
I'll do soon@@King0fS0RR0W9
Why play the game at that point if you're complaining about half the roster
there is one thing you have not mentioned about the guard break : while you're in the bound state, you can just watch yoshi do KIN 2 and react to it and just lie down, take the damage, and it's -14 so yoshi gets no oki or carry and all it is is a glorified max damage combo ender. i think yoshi has some overtuned tools like enhanced 1,1 which is completely broken, but i really don't see what all the fuss is about with the guard break, it's literally just a knowledge check, and not "guaranteed" as you say.
You just said you have to lay down and get the full damage. That seems guaranteed to me xX
@@blackheart59_ i meant the guard break isn't guaranteed
@@enderborn9209again? It's guaranteed either you stay on the ground or wake up
@@blackheart59_ i just understood that you meant the guard break itself was guaranteed. i was trying to explain that if you know to stay down, all it is is a knowledge check and it just serves as a max damage combo ender that takes away both oki and wall carry. and i fail to realize how this is considered a problem.
Also he had the shortest heat in the game it drains super quickly
free launch??????
Yes you can launch on start up all yoshis unblockable aren't faster than 15 frames you can launch samurai cutter
Im a shinryu yoshi player yes he's op in his unique way, I even discovered a tech to make an unexpected, quick seppuku that hits twice
Nice
Used to talk shit about yoshi, but not now bcs using him is not actually as easy
he need the mentallity to commit everything, like his unblockable, or even thinking next setup next trap or next high frame moves.
i agree flash is too good, its destroy how yoshi iis especially came from tekken 7 players, and his damage is kinda insane since i main lee before
as u say he have bad punishment, bad poke, and i dont know but giving him better neutral tools doesnt it gonna make every character play the same? why the needs to make everyone general? why not be diffferent?
depends on what he does. It's good that he is different, but this way he is too much
I thought Yoshi was already quite good in T7, just clunky and hard to play. In T8 he is more streamlined than ever, with gigantic buffs in every department. I've been saying he's OP since day 1, seems people are only just figuring it out. Thanks for the video!
❤️
The thing is they didn't balance good at all in this game, he still has all his evasion and gimmicks but now on top of it he has STUPID damage... if you're going to give a character a dumb amount of evasion, then you need to compensate for it in another way. Like T7, he always had his crazy evasion and stupid shit but his damage was trash. Same as Ling, now they have both the evasion, stupid damage, and crazy 50/50 options as well. Also his spin should take away way more health with how much it lets you get out of...
Exactly!
Yoshi and Drag legit made me delete this game twice...W vid btw❤.
❤
I main yoshi and yeah those hitbox issues definitely need fixing. Id rather not give him better lows and ws punishment to compensate but do agree with toning down/removing loopable oki options. I think the best oki setups should be situational but the new f1+2 can be done anytime with the wall. By the same token I'm also not a fan of the strength of heat/nss 1,1.
Its cool that yoshi is top tier but the broken stuff needs to be fixed and any nerfs/changes should be in a way to keep his tricky identity.
Thanks!
Yoshimitsu is the biggest absurd i have ever seen in any fg
True
you mean the guy who has been there since tekken 1 and was never seen as competitive until the 8th installment

on top of talking abbout it, did you ever talk about it with other yoshi mains on what their thoughts are on the character since they would know a lot more than just surface level knowledge of the character.
I did with Sin, and he agrees with me.
I kinda agree on the stuff I said, but the broken stuff he has in his favour outmatches the weak hitboxes thing he has imo
I play a lot of character incl yoshimitsu.. i think yoshi is strong vs scrubs but mid vs pros.. if you think you know tekken but you actually dont know tekken.. he will blow you up

Then why he isn't a top pick?
Because he is not so easy to master as a character. But he remains broken

i think you need to make video about which characters needs nerfs and buffs
I prefer focusing on single characters!
You dont even need to use heat to launch you can just down foward 2 there's a set up to launch after guard break and that should be nerfed but honestly everything else are things yoshi had like his spin will never be nerfed because his side step sucks
thats not a good excuse to have that broken spin
Hes had this spin since forever and he wasn't broken in Tekken 7. He was very much mid to low tier its his tekken 8 kit stop acting like its what makes him broken when its not.

Other than that r just little fixes to some moves. I dont know if you agree, do u agree? Im good at analytical thinking but i dont have all the chars at GoD so, what do u think?

Agreed on everything. Bravo.

Heyy
Why can’t Yoshimitsu be strong ? Are we gonna complain about everyone ? How about deleting the game if this mindset persists in the Tekken community ?
There's a difference between strong and completely broken
