Well even that jumper riff kind of sounds like the last riff to Seek And Destroy little bit. If you listen very very closely. Just listen to the rhythm of it and you’ll see what I mean
THANK YOU WOLFGANG FOR POSTING THIS!!!! Ian Jones a Blitzkrieg band member co-wrote and played on this track. Metallica used to honour him by taking him on tour with them when they woudl come to the Uk. He was my best friend and co-songwriter in our own band project DEAD EASY. Ian passed away 2 years ago and is HUGELY MISSED!!! Rock on In Peace Ian. Love, Electra
I am sorry to hear that Ian has died, I am just catching up on a great track, I do have the single though, I saw them in Bedford, on the day that I finished my O-Levels in 1981, I bought the single and a pin badge, I still have both over 40 years later! Great Band, great Gig, front row, I headbanged like a B******d :-)
I was in a band called 'Blitzkrieg' in 1981-82. We were out of Petaluma CA. We were not aware of this band...but it's funny, we had a very similar sound. We didn't have any recordings...had a lead singer that couldn't keep it together, he was a great singer though, ended up going to prison. We tried to replace him...end of band.

You hit the nail on the head! I wasn't sure how to describe what I term as Raw Metal, but you've answered that! I was 13 in 1980 and was there when it was first emerging. Miss those days, especially when it was more underground. Love the Metallica version, and just found this one which, too, is awesome!

I was a teen in the 80s. It was awesome.....but I always thought being a teen in the 60s would have been better because record deals were easier to get......
'Blitzkrieg' and 'Am I Evil' were very high in my favourite 'Metallica' songs.. I did not know that they were covers (BKg DH) at the time... but I can see why Metallica covered them.. did a pretty good job on both. Listen to the song, Like it, and praise it in the comments.
Hans Von Witzland you are correct that the Brits created heavy metal BUT us Americans got a hold of it and turn the volume nob up and played it double speed....... giving the world megadeth, Metallica, slayer, exodus, testament etc.........

You found out about new bands through your friends. It was a real social thing. Fun and more innocent times! Wish I could go back!
I grew up to Metallica version and only as a grown-up learnt about this original. It really kicks ass and I began to appreciate it, it's very dramatic, theatrical I'd say, almost like heavy metal symphony. Very powerful.

awesome powerful metal track, from one of the new wave of british heavy metal bands blitzkrieg, solid and powerful vocals. and a nice bone crunching riff. #nwobhmforever

Haha. Yes. Yes it does.

Yes so true the Gameboy color

Definitely tell the influence this had on Hetfield vocally.
Well even that jumper riff kind of sounds like the last riff to Seek And Destroy little bit. If you listen very very closely. Just listen to the rhythm of it and you’ll see what I mean
So yeah it absolutely is an influence
Plus they even covered this song when they had the cover album “Garage Inc”
It's pretty wild to realise that Hetfield's vocal style is basically him adopting a geordie accent.

I love the metallica cover, but sometimes you need that old school garage fuzz in your guitar.

NWOBHM it is the best of metal, i think many people can agree with my opinion. 80s metal was the best
Rust In Peace i was born in 85 man, and im still discovering these gem's, and i agree, something about 80's metal makes me think, i was meant to be born earlier!!!!!!
Especially from 81-84. the best years for metal.
Sabbath is always the best.
Somethingclever sabbath is great indeed, they are one of the couple of bands that are just on another tier.
@@Only_Cans_101 me too!!!!
The main riff reminds me Hocus Pocus of Focus.
Yeah I was thinking that too. Accidental ripoff?
same here
Just came back, you are totally right. They even stole how the guitar comes in to thicken up the sound at the same measurement.
This is the better song tho...
thats because Ian Jones messed up the Focus riff, I was there
who care fucking idiot
This is thrash before thrash ! Nice song !
Less pedal old metallica sound is more effect blitzkrieg.
......what?
The sad truth is that Metallica ripped this song off. Almost every song on 'Kill 'em All' was ripped off by Metallica. It's just that American metal heads of the time hadn't heard these because they were by obscure European bands...and some not so obscure. I mean - Diamond Head?
+Aaron Wolbach no they didn't covered yes what did not steal the damn song
Corey Hansen You're right. I made a poor choice of words.
I love the punk/metal sound of the original, but also Kirk's interpretation of the solo on the Metallica version is awesome. 👌
sold out
its the NWOBHM
So Metallica Did Cover us ?
Wish I was a teenager in the 80s but at least being a teenager now allows me to listen to all metal from years ago.
Jimmy V i agree
yeah but you aint really part of it, y'know?
Afe you sure about that it was a violent time cops beat the shit out of you
I was a teen in the 80s. It was awesome.....but I always thought being a teen in the 60s would have been better because record deals were easier to get......
You can listen to this at any age, dude.
The first time I heard this opening riff...I was listening to "Hocus Pocus" by Focus, which came out 10 years earlier!
whoever wrote this, he's a genius!
RIP Ian Jones. Blitzkrieg are legends and you'll be missed, mate.
The best thing about Metallica's cover song is that they introduced me to some awesome bands.
They shaped my taste in music. All that classic Brit metal and punk
this is like a perfect metal song. the riffs, the drumming, melodic solo/riff, the vocals
'Blitzkrieg' and 'Am I Evil' were very high in my favourite 'Metallica' songs.. 👍🤘
I know I'm gonna start some shit with this, But... I think Motley Crue's version of Helter Skelter is 1000 times better than the Beetle's version.
True in this instance, but not in every instance...Johnny Cash's version of Hurt, for example, is better than the Nine Inch Nails version.
But But! Metalicca is teh gogz!!! / sarcasm i know they'd cringe at the comments if they saw them.
Originals aren't always better. But I myself like both versions
We Brits may be a small island, but we are masters at a lot of things. Heavy metal is one of them.
America: x to doubt

Nice to see a huge NWOBHM following on youtube. British Metal forever!
Before hearing this song I was just a fan. Now I am a whole air conditioner.
This tune was way ahead of its time.
Sabbath + Focus = Blitzkrieg?
more like later 70's judas priest mixed with focus.
Linus Eriksson pretty much any metal band in this time period was influenced by sabbath. They were one of the only guys around
This shit rocks.. I must have been living under a rock when this was out (was in the military)
favorite part of this song starts at 2:55. Love that guitar sound. And this song makes me want the album now.
Focus - Hocus Pocus
im glad i wasnt the only one who heard it
Un acorde mas un acorde menos; mas ligado menos stacatto pero es Hocus Pocus riff
hocus pocus there's a pizza on your focus

haha on the Metallica track, I heard 'aliens' but I thought that must be wrong
it's "aliens calling"
@@Acolyte82 no t's not, at least according to the lyrics in the description, which clearly say "Aliens coming"
