I wish more singers would perform the Pur ti miro with this level of passion - in so many versions I've seen Poppea and Nero are barely interacting, but instead just singing straight to the audience. It's so much more effective when sung intimately!

Mrs Erica Schuller has such a great comedy talent I stayed enchanted during the whole performance. It was a delightful time to watch the concerto.
Voice of an angel, but with energy of a deceitful Cupid!
I think this was the essence of baroque. Every emotion taken to the extreme. Deadly sorrow, and explosive fun. Marvellous performance!!!
My favourite was the drunk ending - hovewer the lyrical skills are clearly visible too!
I am so mesmerized I cannot decide which Ms Erica I love more - brokenhearthed or drunk. Probably both. What a great lady!

The Enlightenment always had its countermovements (Sturm und Drang, for example). How can we have reason and emotion at the same time?

In the Baroque period, music is emotional. It became emotional again in the Romantic era. Why were emotions toned down in the Classical period? Because it was the Age of Reason?
