Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610 is among the most beautiful works of music ever composed. Ms Sorrell & Apollo's Fire have done it justice. Bravissimo!!
Imperdibile, Indimenticabile, Meraviglioso. W Monteverdi, W Jeannette!
The most underrated score of all time?
That was the best Monteverdi Vespers interpretation ever.. and by far..thanks a million!
Really! What I appreciate the most is how they easily handle the changes of tempi. And they sing with a lightness, wonderfull!
Great performance with high energy and spirit! Please post the list of all singers as well! Thanks
Fantastic performance! My favourite performance of this piece was the monteverdi-choir with John Elliot Gardener in the San Marco in Venice(1990).But this is also a super performance!Thank you!The translation is great!
Yay! Amazing rendition! Love that Mr. Sulayman is back
I am blown away by the music and performances here. Thank you for this amazing video.
rich triumphant sensuous spiritual !
Straordinaria esecuzione
Simply amazing. Stunning performance. Congratulations. Greetings from Spain. The best for the future. Nice sounding.
There are many musical mountains in the range.
There are some peaks amongst those that take our breath away by their sheer beauty and impressiveness.
And there are only a handful which will endure everything: Bach's Mass, Beethoven's Missa, Haydn's Creation and Monteverdi's Vespers.
Great performance this. The utter joy and transportation of the people making music here is something to behold.
Thanks a lot to the kind soul that uploaded this.
Splendida esecuzione, viva, entusiasmante e piena di spirito
It is one of the most wonderfull (What a choirs¡¡¡...music...rythm..etc) masterpieces of music along with the Passion San Mateo. This superior. In my opinion the best the last one.
Wonderful, atmospheric performance. It makes you realize what a revolutionary work this was. It's not an exaggeration to say "This is where the baroque begins!"
N. 1 - DEUS IN ADJUTORIUM
(sex vocibus et sex instrumentis)
Deus in adjutorium meum intende.
Domine ad adiuvandum me festina.
Gloria Patri et Filio et Spiritui Sancto:
sicut erat in principio et nunc et semper
et in saecula saeculorum. Amen.
Alleluia. O Signore, affrettati ad aiutarmi.
Signore recati velocemente ad aiutarmi.
Gloria al Padre, al Figlio, e allo Spirito Santo,
com'era in principio e ora e per sempre
e per tutti i secoli dei secoli. Amen.
Alleluia.
2:37 I love Olivier's flourish at the end
Incrivelmente lindo o som que ela conseguiu. Dinâmicas excelentes; andamentos e fermatas perfeitas.
Parabéns Senhora Jeannette Sorrell.
Performances such as these remind me why I miss living in Cleveland.
Wonderful!!
BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
for me the best performance of this fantastic music
Is there a more joyous opening in all of music? It thrills and inspires me.
The blessed liturgy of Holy Mother Church tends to have such an effect.
@@evaneparat It is unrelated, this is just Monteverdi's style; his secular music is just as joyous. The opening in this work is remarkably similar to that of his opera "L'Orfeo", which he published a year prior to Vespero della Beata Vergine.
It was probably a fanfare of the House of Gonzaga, the ducal family of Mantua. Monteverdi incorporated it into at least two of his major surviving works (and probably a whole bunch that have been lost to time).
@@KorKhan89 Indeed!
@@KorKhan89 Yep! Glad you noted this!
Is there a more glorious opening?! I don’t think so! Love this!
Wonderful
Wow! This is amazing!=)
Bravissimi

GRAZIE PER LE BELLE PAGINE DI MUSICA CHE CI REGALI INSIEME AL FORMIDABILE ENSEMBLE '' APOLLO' S FIRE''
"What instrument do you play?"
"The theorbo"
"You mean the orbo"
"..."
Why did you break it into small videos and not one big Concert Video? Ater 4 years it is hard to find them all.
Who is the tall auburn haired beauty beside the drummer in the beginning?
3:57 slow down guys..troppo veloce...
Definitely worth a retry 8-)
Hmmm...maybe its time for me to give renaissance music more of a listen. Perhaps not the stuff of dreary drafty monasteries after all.
Watching that conductor makes me dizzy.
