POLAKO drives me crazy in BOSNIA 🇧🇦 | Sarajevo 2024

- In this video we gonna explore the city deeply. How they live in Sarajevo ~30 years after the longest siege the World has ever seen. And also one of the questions remains for me - why do Bosnians love gold and parfume so much? It's literally being sold on almost every corner.
Among the other things I was surprised one stands out: It's why Jewerly and Parfume is so popular in Bosnia? At least Sarajevo. It's sold literally everywhere. Even in the sleeping hoods you can find it! And I even saw a guy selling jewerly in a TRAM. But my bettery died so I couldn't film it. Who would buy a jewerly in a tram hah. But at least it smells very well in Bosnia because of the parfume!
"It's why Jewerly and Parfume is so popular in Bosnia?" The city is full of tourists from Arabia, the Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, etc. and they buy it as a gift from Europe. And it doesn't matter to them how much it costs and whether it is expensive.
@@bosnianmusic7580 yeah. I though so as well. I’ve heard in those countries jewelry is very popular. Gold, silver and so on. Thanks for explaining.

Sergey take a bus 31e vijećnica dobrinja from the city, and visit Dobrinja, Alipašino, Mojmilo, Otoka, Grbavica, all communist hoods just to see difference between bosnian and russian communist buildings
I thought it was a European thing, from French culture. France is the capital of perfumery, the region of Grasse. Regardless, I like both jewelry and perfume😄
@helloworld-sx8fy I already did it. Soon upload
I worked with so many from Sarajevo during the wartime, they were very tall and handsome, and could really hold their liquor! Very fun and interesting people,
thank you

You need to eat the burek meso with joghurt brother. I'm over in montenegro from the uk at the minute and the burek is just the best 👌 plenty of Russians here too. I've been traveling through here and croatia for some time now
@@AlternateMediaClips I just ate today Burek with yogurt! Was yummy 😋!
@CrazyRussianSergey yes they are, a serbian man told me I need to try the čavapi with pitta, onion and salad too. So if you try one before me let me know haha
Again a very interesting and nice video Sergey.
This time I could even get a short glimpse of the two famous twin towers, those wiith the characteristic roof tops 😎.I do remember those from the war reports when Sarajevo was under siege from the Serbs.
Balkan food is nice but rich. I love going to Balkan restaurants here as well.
PS.
Flew my new little DJI Mini drone today for the first time, real fun!
Yeah. Now it’s unrecognizable how it’s recovered. Looks like totally new buildings.

POLAKO means that what is destined for you will happen, i.e. it will happen as God has determined it to happen. That is the philosophy here in Bosnia. And there is a better word for it "SABUR".
Yeah, I was asking the other day if there is another word for polako in Bosnia. Here is another one.
It's the equivalent to the Portuguese word "fado", which is also the name of a type of traditional music we have.
I thought "polako" had something to do with Poland, LOL, thought it would be some Slavic cultural thing.
"Fun" fact" Sabur probably entered the Bosnian language from Turkish as the Balkans were ruled by Ottomans for nearly 500 years. The Turkish word is 'sabır' meaning patience, originally from Arabic sabbar meaning aloe vera which withstand harsh environments. Ottomans got the word from Arabic because they also ruled Arabs in the Levant, North Africa and the Gulf for centuries...
There is a UK Devon local dialect word 'drectly' (directly). It means something will get done, but maybe not immediately. It is a bit like the Spanish 'mañana' but without the urgency.
@@user-qj2bi3ph6psabr is actually arabian word, turks also took it from arabs
When the war was going on a lot of immigrants came to Canada and my City, some stayed but most went back home when it was safer.
It looks like a lot of the people are very tall. What is Polako?
Slowly 🙂
Bosnians are on 3. place of the tallest people in the World, after Duchs and Montenegrians.

it is Eiffel firm that made it , not a legned. But, Eiffel was a large construction company, named after its founder. So they made all kind of steel works around the world. like NY statue of liberty, Nuggatti station in Budapest just some of examples. mr Eiffel was not involved in this small bridge planning or construction most probably
There is another saying in bosnia and its "Laganini," which means "easy."
why are you not inspecting the cat manure ? i thought that you compare this between countries ?
😂😂
THANKS SERGEJ FOOT AND WORK NEW VIDEO BRAVO LOVE YOU😂❤❤❤🤣😃🤠💘💖💜🙏💜💛
Sarajevo is the literal cultural crossroads of Eastern and Western cultures in Europe, so it will be interesting, Orthodox , Catholic and Muslim influences abound there
Here in Russia you will be an alt right mayonnaise Greek Orthodox. No room for others in Mother Russia's womb.
And jewish influence also!
@@samodamir According to what I can find, the Jewish population in the city shows 1,000 citizens and they are not found in the rural area. As for influence, it is the majority of Muslims that have the most influence and I find that hard to believe due to the area's recent peaceful living and more progressive movement towards a peaceful future compared to their past. They must be Muslim lights!
I was born in Bosnia, last time I was there was 10 years ago...

Hey Sregey happy to see you happy and enjoying yourself but also very relaxed despite that small unfortunate incident in the beginning of the video .
In a lot of countries they don't have the polako , polako system that's why they are so stressed and living unhealthy lives .
The definition of polako , polako means take it easy don't rush and stress out will make it happen when it happens , no need to worry .
So we can conclude that because you are so relaxed is because of the polako polako system . 😂 Which was invented in the Balkans . 😂
Sergey it will be are shame if you go straight to Russia and bypass Serbia since you are so close and nearby but whenever you do decide to go to Serbia let your Serbian viewers know so you can maybe meet with them and let them show You around and be your tour guide for a few hours or maybe even the whole day .
Sergey before you leave Sarajevo I hope you visit The Castle on the hill .
Where would you like to live Sergey?

Strange looking food.What is it?
Well they were really going "polako" with the facades, after 30 years they are still not fixed...
It takes a lot of money to be fixed. Most of people do not make a lot, so they prioritize to pay for the most important expenses
@@eldindokara7868 I am sorry to hear people in Bosnia still struggle with money. I was in Sarajevo 15 years ago, and at that time it was understandable to see shrapnel and bullet holes. But after 30 years, a whole generation grow up, now it looks more like government neglect and corruption. Or maybe government look it as a testimony of a war and don't want to fix the facades in stead of giving citizens subsidies to fix them.
Sarajevo kao i cijelu Bosnu i Hercegovinu, su srbi srusili 80% Infrastrukture. Nesto slicno Ukraini danas.
@@yudzin88 yes there is huge corruption especially as the country is small but many governments from RS and federation entities to many smaller ones until entities are eliminated and governments are much smaller millions will be going to politicians instead of people.

Don’t worry 😉
They just don’t care about the graffiti! You clean it it’s there tomorrow!
During the summer season there is a flux of people from the Middle East to Bosnia. Some Bosnians approve of it and some do not.
I noticed some tensions about it to be honest.
who cares where is someone from all are welcome that is not good hospitality if discriminating where someone comes from or what ethnic or nationality they are
And why is expensive..you see the price off fuel, it's not easy
POLAKO is a way of life :) And payments...people just trust you, that's all.
Polako is the best word I learned in Balkan :)
I guess it's the equivalent to Turkish "kolay gelsin"?

Bizerterija Bizerterija, meanwhile cheap jewelry… everyone would understand you Sergei when you say it ❤
Ohh yeah. Bizuteriya seems like international word! I wonder though why it’s so popular here? Well, I see women wear it on their necks, but only on the neck. Also selling in a tram 🚋!
@@CrazyRussianSergey women likes jewelry and thats why 😀 while that woman in the train thats sells it, that’s probably her income most likely she is from low income people; just enjoy Bosnia Sergei!
The word comes from French: bijouterie which means jewelry store. Bijoux means jewelry. Not sure of the connotation in Slavic languages, but cheap jewelry is called 'trinket' in English. Russian seems to have lots of French loan words for historical reasons
@@user-qj2bi3ph6pin Bosnia we say bizuterija for fake gold or silver, or very cheap jewlery

Graffiti is a big problem in the balkans. In serbia its not punished enough, they are going to change the laws and increase fines for vandalism, its been talked about, as belgrade facades are getting renovated they want to keep them clean and nice looking. the heavy fines will provide the city with money for graffiti removal wich is expensive

Just to inform you.. Bosnia is older Country (it was kingdom) 20 times than Yugoslavia.
And it was bigger that Kingdom then Yugoslavia your have proof in Moscow museum..and we have all different religions more than 1000 year..republika srpska is a part off State officially Bosna i Hercegovina
not exactly bigger than Yugoslavia... yes, Bosnia was bigger than it is today, that's for sure, with much longer coast (from Ston incl. Pelješac to Split) and the islands of Brač, Korčula and Hvar (not sure about Šolta) , but even at its peak Bosnia was about half of Yugoslavia (with Istria)... no need to exaggerate, my dear Bosnian brother. Bragging and exaggeration have never been part of our culture and manners. Let others do it.

Villages in Bosnia are not more liberal than the capital, the capital is mroe religious i would say.
From what I have seen, the way the older women dress in Bosnian villages is exactly how Turkish village women dressed in the Ottoman empire with the headscarves (yemeni or yazma), knitted vests (yelek) and şalvar pants

It’s annoying that you complain too much for pay 💰in advance in some small hostel. Next time you go in hotel with 4 or 5 stars 😅
Была я в Боснии,Черногории,Хорватии, там многие до сих пор вспоминают Югославию и проклянают американцев и нато за вторжение и бомбёжку, уж очень много людей они убили.
Your country reached a new low today by targeting a children's cancer hospital in Kyiv with two missiles. It's a shame you couldn't mention it in your video. Maybe russian UA-camrs feel like they don't have to actively protest their gangster government in russia itself, but mentioning its war crimes in their videos seems like the least one could do - especially when they're speaking English, and not even in russia at the time.
Why would he do it? Can he change anything? You think that Western mainstream media is not loud enough? I never saw a single travel blogger from the US mentioning how his government was bombing Belgrade, Baghdad or Kabul hospitals. Or how the US is actively supporting genocide in Gaza right now by blocking every single resolution, threatening UN war criminal courts, arming and funding bombing of Palestinians.
I support Ukraine and think that Russia is aggresor. That said leave him alone. Imagine if someone asked US or UK youtubers to mention every crime their goverment did, they would have to apologize all the time.
I feel bad after every crazy news, but the laws in Russia are like that that you can lose everything for your speech, even if you are outside of Russia.
@@SP-yl1qz I think since Sergei lives abroad now he is saying and in a way distance himself from the Putin regime;
People just need enjoy more of life because it is a very short one!
