  • Hi hi!
I have seen the trend of pixie cuts come up a lot recently and wanted to provide my 2 cents on the topic!
I have had short short hair over half my life so I feel qualified to give out my warnings.
If you really really want a pixie cut go for it! If it is a fleating thought, maybe sit and think on it a bit longer. However; in both cases watch this video!

I feel women that choose to wear short hair cuts are very confident in their skin.

Gosh, I had no idea about the comments thing! I have obviously seen the awful (dumbass) comments whenever I see a video where someone has shaved their head but didn't know that pixie cuts also got that kind of hate too. This is the first video I've seen of yours and honestly you look freaking amazing. I wish the Internet would just stop with the judgement over what people chose to wear or do with their hair. About 5 or 6 years ago I decided to dye my naturally blonde hair red for a while and I honestly loved it, but I had people messaging me ordering me to go back to being blonde. So I went even more vivid orange/red instead! Don't even get me started on my family's reaction to my tattoo 😂 Just mind your own business and respect people's decisions to do what they want with their own hair and body

Thank you for the kind words 💞 Comments are such a heavy part of the hair length. I always grew up with "hair is hair" & no care in the world about hair one way or another. So I am right there with you about wishing people could mind their business and keep their opinions to themselves!

If I had a beautiful face like you and a nice head shape like yours ,I would get a pixie.

I hope this isn’t a rude comment, but I find your hair cut emphasizes your beautiful face and brings out your femininity. I love it! I have thought of shaving my hair off because it’s thin, fine, and I don’t have much of it-it would serve it right to be shaved off. 😂 (By shaved, I literally mean shaved with clippers set as short as possible. I’m not saying or insinuating that pixie cuts are shaving the hair off.) I had short hair for 3-4 years because my hair tech at the time said I didn’t have enough hair and what I had was too fine and thin to be anything but short. It is much more time consuming and a pain in the neck. Heck, when I got up in the morning, I always hard to wet it down and do at least a minimal amount of styling as it was sticking up.

@@sherric7860 your comment is very nice, don't worry. I had a buzz cut for less than a year, it was another kind of commitment/maintinence that I could not deal with!
My hair has thinned as I have gotten older, I find I use more mousse/spray in (water based) texturizers, and the shake-in powder is fantastic (got 2 b has a great budget friendly one). Pomades/gels are too heavy for my hair now, but always seem to be the products used on short hair.
If you ever want to go short again those are def some products that could help, if you don't have them already!

@@clairekookoo Thank you! I only really use a spray in moose thing, but will check out the shake in powder. I definitely need something that will help hide my scalp. Why is it ok, accepted, and even attractive for men to have balding issues and not women? I’m using minoxidil, a silicone massager, a dermatologist stamper, and a red light therapy helmet thing.
I have really good dog clippers (I had toy poodles a d one a Havanese-both non shedding breeds which means they have hair like a person that grows and drops like a persons) and have used them on my hubby. If I did a buzz cut, I’d just use one of those. Keeping up on that would be quicker and easier than all the things I’m doing to recover some hair and cleansing and drying my hair. I will admit that the only styling I do is a blow dry and even though my hair is down to about my collar bone, it dries in about 5 minutes.

@@clairekookoo oh, and regarding your comment about price. They certainly shouldn’t charge more for a hair cut just because of gender. I always get a color and a slight trim, so I don’t know the cost of just a trim. However, due to not having a lot of hair and what hair I have being thin and fine hair, my hair isn’t hard to trim. I’m limited in the styles I can have.
Mine is pretty much all one length, collar bone, and straight bangs. Literally takes maybe 5 minutes to cut it. Also, I do wonder if I pay the same amount to get mine colored as someone with a lot more hair and if gals with a pixie cut pay the same as someone with longer hair. Certainly, the less hair to color, the cheaper it should be because it takes less product and time.
My hair stylist is nice and has picked up a tube color along with some developer for me when she was having surgery. I was shocked to find out the tube cost $10 and developer $20. The developer lasts a while, too. I figure considering those costs and the cost of shampoo and stuff used on me along with a little bit for booth or place rent, it probably costs my hair tech less than $50 each time she does my hair. The rest is profit.

I think cost is just regional based, i am sure some salons don't charge, but some love that profit margin lol

❤Thank you, very informative! I also have been wearing short hair for half of my life. I think it's very important as well to find a stylist who's trained in baby fine hair pixie techniques. Recently had a very bad experience my hair is shredded so much that I can not do anything with it, my worst nightmare. Even after telling her my hair texture & not to do. I have ran out of salons finding a stylist who understands & sees my needs. Any advice? Heartbroken

Finding a stylist is very hard for shorter hair lengths. You could try finding a salon in a high income neighbourhood, if it's feasible. In my area unisex barbershops are popping up more and more.
Those aren't as common though, so if you do find one, always check instagram and see the tagged stylists to view their work and that they can do feminine short hair styles.
Every salon worth their salt should allow you to have a consult with the stylist you want before they even touch a pair or scissors/clippers! If you don't like the options given, don't be afraid to say no thank you, and try again another day. It's always best to vouch for yourself then sit and accept what comes at you (in this case a pair of scissors haha!)

It's been a little over three years since I had long hair. Growing up, majority of my life, I always had long, thick straight hair and always known for that. Back in 2020, unfortunately got the virus (and still dealing with long haul), started to develop pain and weakness. Could not have the strength or energy to do my hair, so I decided to go for an undercut with long lob. Then slowly got shorter and shorter, 360 undercut and now recently did my own hair (well have been for a while since prices are skyrocket). This is the shortest I ever have it and I love it! Have received more compliments about my hair with ladies, unless I go into the barber and have the design then receive some comments with men. Unfortunately, I did get snarky comments about "why you cut your hair short" and my favorite (since he is cousin) saying that I looked prettier with longer hair...like dude, I don't make comments about "aww, well you looked better with your ex wife" but it's whatever 🐸☕ Would have to say that its easier to take care of short hair compare to long hair!!
