for the list of exact products I used for this mid century modern Mersman table flip! 👇🏼✨
I found this lil guy at a flea market in the middle of the North Woods of Wisconsin 😂 it looked like it had been left outside for 20+ years. I originally offered him $5 and he countered with $25. We eventually settled on $7 but I left feeling like he should’ve paid me to take it since it was in such bad condition 😂😂😂 I was honestly stunned how well it came out!
Here’s how I restored it 👇🏼
+ sanded off old finish with 120 grit & scraped with carbide scraper
+ filled chipped veneer with plastic wood filler
+ applied 2x coats of oil based wipe on polyurethane (wipe off any excess, sand lightly with 220 grit in between coats)
+ hid repairs with blendal sticks
+ sealed repairs with satin lacquer
Ta-daaaa!! An easy beginner friendly DIY for restoring wood furniture and veneer!! Nothing against paint, I just suck at it and it tends to devalue furniture. Plus this is easier for me lol 😂

I would want this for any other piece of furniture except the one that looks like this. My art table has paint and coffee ring stains from the 80s. I love it it is a thrashed looking piece, but I grew up with it.
@@mrs.hatfield1451
I know exactly how you feel; it's cool when you think of the history and all you've been through together. But since the people whose history is inside this lucky find, are long gone... it's nice to let a new history begin, with the new owner. It's so beautiful!!
You turned it into a 100$ table
Barely
@@mrs.hatfield1451Top-notch video!
I love when people restore the wood! Always a shame to cover the grain unless it's a last resort. Lovvee
Exactly!
Yeah. I bought a nightstand. I only painted it because it was not full wood. Only the frame seemed to be all wood. The rest seemed to be an early for of mdf. The table looks and turned out beautifully. Nice find.
I like the grain but im not a fan of the orange tones. I wonder if there’s a sealant that leaves a lighter wood tone. I’m not an expert 😂
Yesss. My dining table looks great, but my night stand just does not stain well so I painted it😂
@meep2253 the orange tone comes more from the wood than the poly- the poly brings a shine to (and protects) the wood's natural beauty. If you're looking for a lighter tone, birch and maple are good options to go with! And there are also non-yellowing polys made with acrylics if you want to keep the true wood's color.
"Don't paint it" - the sweetest words I ever heard ✨ most furniture flippers are serial furniture criminals I swear
Hahahaha thank you!!!
I swear!!! That is the truth. Like watching fools get hold of an old Queen Anne house- peel off the decorative trim and try to ‘modernize’ it. Brings tears to my eyes!
IKR? I cant believe how many times I've seen people paint furniture like this. Always a boring color too like white or black.
I absolutely hate paint. Thank you from the bottom if my heart for restoring this properly. ❤
Thank you!!
So what’s on your walls?
get a grip
@@nmpoy You commenting "get a grip" and "you'll live" to people talking about how they prefer natural wood just shows that you're the problem. Like we get it, you inject paint. Get a grip.
@@vikodens you sure had time lmao. i suggest you… get a grip 😹
Fantastic. Restoration that’s actually a restoration. So many people out here doing awful paint jobs on good furniture. This is a treat
thank you sooo much!!
Danish oil with varnish in it is also a great option, it's one product that is easier than stain and properly seals the wood it also comes in many colours.
Forest flea market!! That’s so cool!! 🎉🎉
🥰🥰🥰
I recognize this Flea Market, in St Germain, Wisconsin (or nearby)! Highly recommend!
That's what I was thinking too! I've been there many times when I was a kid - we'd camp for a week in the area and always looked forward to the flea market
I love the markets around St G!!! ❤😊❤
love people who save stuff and transform!!!
Thanks for watching!!
Oh thank you for not painting that beauty!! Gorgeous!
of course!
Wonderful video, I can't get enough!
Cool! You have returned the table to its original beauty.
yessss mission accomplished!
Crazy how you have to have an eye to spot these little hidden treasures out!! You truly have two talents! The other being able to restore it back to new!
Wow thank you!!!!
@@thefurnituredoctor 🤌🥰
Turned out great!
thank you!!
An hour of work? You, madam, are fastest and best woodworker i have ever seen...
Wow thank you!!!!
The time sounds fishy. How long does it take wood putty to dry before you can sand it?
@@nofurtherwest3474application is less than 30 second of hands on work..waiting on the other hand is just waiting you’re not putting any physical labor into it.
@@nofurtherwest3474Drydex wood filler dries in 10 minutes, plus sanding 10 minutes, then poly with rag. 1 hour is more than enough time if you know what you’re doing
An hour of work? I kinda think it was quite a bit longer, it turned out beautifully
I guess because she has a lot of experience she underestimated how long it would take for someone that has never done it. I tried once took me hours for a not so good result lol
Hour only to cure plastic wood....
About an hour means a whole day's worth of work....more like weekend but whatever
@@beepboop7090Nothing to do with experience. Sanding alone that size table will take a good couple minutes, and that's with big grit alone. You'd still need to increase by at least two more grit sizes. Then the legs, then underneath the table itself. Finishing the wood also takes literally hours, just for one coat (possibly a day depending on the product), and she said she did two.
@@theren8311I would assume she didn't include time waiting as time working lol
I LOVE THE FACT YOU DIDN' COVER THIS PRETTY WOOD WITH PAINT. LOOKS LOVELY. GLAD YOU GOT A WONDERFUL PRICE FOR 7 BUCKS!
Thank you!
So incredibly beautiful to restore it to its natural state!!
You did it proud!! 😍
Thank you so much!
Thank you for not ruining a beautiful wooden table
My pleasure!
That flea market sure looks interesting! Good for you to spot the table, it came out beautifully!
Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for not painting this beautiful piece! It turned out amazing!
thank you!!!
Mersman tables were made in the town I’m from in Ohio. There are great pieces everywhere around here to find.
That is so cool I'm jealous!!
Just got chills. I think I have a painted one right behind me. I never thought a side of the road table would end up being valuable.
I'm glad you restored that nice table.
Thanks!!
You really did that! I have an old ethan aallen table ive been wanting to restore
do it!!
You're a magician! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you!!
Nobody except you got one. It’s unique!
Agreed!
Great job for spotting quality and have the skill to restore it.
Thank you very much!
Absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you! Cheers!
Gorgeous!
Thank you so much!
Did the same with an oak dining room table. Took off the old finish, took it to a 320 finish, then poly-coated it. It's close to heirloom quality and sits in our daughter's farmhouse style dining area. Well done. Cheers
When something is quality to begin with it's a no brainer to clean it up and refinish it. Nicely done👍 looks great 🫶
Thank you!!
Stunningly gorgeous!!!
Thank you so much!
It's beautiful! Nice job!
Thank you! Cheers!
IM SOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY TO SEE SOMEONE ADVOCATE FOR RESTORING THE NATURAL WOOD SURFACE AND
NOT TO AUYOMATIC PAINT A PIECE!!!
Yes, I was screaming all of that!!
Happiness level 1000 😁😀😁😃😄😁😀😁
THANK YOU
OMG it looks warm and fantastic
Thank you!!
Very impressive. ❤ Thanks for inspiring.
Thank you! 😊
Wow just gorgeous!!
thank you so much!
My father passed away this January, he was a carpenter for over 50 years. He loved doing restoration so this reminded me of him. He would be mesmerized at your techniques and joy. RIP daddy, hope you are in a much better place.
awww, that is so precious! thank you!!
No paint YOUR THE BEST!!!
Sooooooooo pretty a redone table.
Thank you so much!
The fact that people are willing to pay $700 for something as simple as a wooden table is insane
Exactly… especially that it is not very big. I wouldn’t pay more than $150 for it
It’s probably because it’s mid century modern. Highly sought after vintage pieces.
It’s crazy that people don’t know the value of actual quality furniture. This isn’t ikea or Walmart.
@scottsinner7530 I had no idea I had one right behind me. Checked underneath and yet. Mersman 8088. Now I'm suspicious of the other tables I grabbed on the side of the road
That’s a beautiful piece . I love the clean modern lines . Lovely restoration.
Many thanks!
Thank you for not destroying it
Beautiful renewal of this elegant table.
Thank you so much!
Beautiful...... so classic!
Thank you!!
I need alot of help. Thank you,
Girl,I think you do a fabulous job in everything you do. Thank you, and God bless you!
And the skill set that required is not aquired by us laymens. Beautiful work of art & skill indeed.
Thank you 🫶🏼
Beautiful
Thank you!
What a find! Restoration 💯
thank you!!
The only kind of reselling I actually support. You get paid for doing actual work and the furniture can look like it used to instead of rotting away.
hahah yes!!!
😱❤️👏👏
I know it’s a word that used to often but that is gorgeous. Good for you.
Wow thank you!
Beautiful results 🤩
Thank you!!!
You can probably tint the wood filler with some acrylic paint before you apply it to make it blend better. Looks great!
That is really beautiful. I'd have a hard time selling it.
Thank you so much!
A forest flea market sounds like heaven
Restoration that ✨doesn't use paint✨ Lovely!!
Yes! Thank you!
Gorgeous!!
Thank you so much! ☺️
YES gril I love it .fiooly some one that love wood as MUTCH as I do .
thanks!!
Beautiful!!
Thank you!
Great job. Really enjoy your videos. 👍
thank you so much!!
only an hour of work? crazyyy
Only with the sander, sanding by hand will take far longer.
I repair furniture, she is lying about an hour…
This is totally achievable in an hour. If there was tighter areas to sand then yeah. I know I could sand that table in 30-40mins at Most.
What did it sell for?
I actually loved how it looked before you started.
That’s weird tbh
Good idea and lucky find.
I think so too! thanks!
Up north? 😭 not me way down south wi crying because I miss nature agh
St germain!!
It looks gorgeous
Thanks!!
Zounds!!! That is a thing of beauty.
Wow! You CRUSHED it girl!
Thank you!!
So beautiful
thank you!!
Lovely, thank you for preserving the wood. 😊❤
Waouh!!!!!! Terrific job!
nice video
Thanks!
@@thefurnituredoctor I'm looking for cheap furniture similar to what you do, where do you find it?
@@groses Facebook marketplace!
So much better than all of the "personalized" MCM furniture I see with shoddy paint jobs.
Thank you!!
Turned out beautiful 😍😍😍❤️
Thank you!
Feeling so happy & proud !
thank you!
I love what you did, it's beautiful. I have the same table and the top veneer was beyond repair so I refinished the legs and painted the top bright yellow and it's adorable!
Thank you so much! Yours sounds beautiful!
I thought my table was a lost cause, I did not think wood filler would look good , so I painted it.
You can’t say it’ll never get old unless you can see into the future but that’s impossible.
"The Middle of Nowhere, Wisconsin." Sounds like a great place to take a vacation.
That’s why I was there :) it’s the BEST!
$700 for a small shitty table... The world is nuts
Beautiful transformation!!💕👏👍💯 So glad you didn't just paint it!!🔥
Thanks!!
I love seeing old furniture restored to its former glory,we need to ditch the cheepo saw dust and plastic and make more room the the real wood!
Why does it become $700? It's still a $7 table
Because she sold it for that
Add the labour, materials, etc. + profit to get to the selling price.
@@rethap3612the labour? She claims an hour lol! Not worth anything like that
Nobody is paying 700 dollars for that though. A side table? Whaaat?
Its UA-cam ppl thinks allways there make big Money of this 😂
She should just keep it if she expects that much .. 😂😂😂
She already flipped it. it's sold already. It was a Mersman.
@@kellydavis6316Exactly, a designer MCM piece that has collector value.
Good work, Lady. Everybody would appreciate it . . . !
Thank you kindly!
Ok the 1 hour is total bs
I think the real talent here was to ability to see true value.
Wow thank you!!!
I can’t get enough of these videos. Are you Lazarus?
Beautiful restoration, and thank you for not just painting over the wood!
Of course!!
Spot on & well done!! Painting this table would have been a sinful mistake!!
Thank you!!
I picked up a wood table and a chef rack with metal legs off a neighbor's curb--being tossed out. The chef rack had too much rust to salvage (so I'm using it for temporary storage). But I thought I might be able to fix up the table and sell it or even just make it look better till I figure out something else. It looked so good, it became the solution, rather than the temporary table till I find the solution. I also did a lot of sanding, rust treatment, and wipe on poly. It looks great. And now it doubles as a small two-stool bar table and coffee station.
love the wood! the original look can't be bait!
Thank you so much!
WOW!!! Great job!!! It's just flat out beautiful...you have definitely discovered your hidden talent!!!
Thank you so much!
I restored a mollusk shell mozaic table from the dumpster. Being able to see how to repair a table and act on it is awesome! I also sold the table in 24 hrs.
Thats so cool!
Restoring the wood always, always looks better than painting it. Nice job!
Yay! Thank you!
Beautiful job of restoration. And also recycling.
Thank you very much!
Great job! ❤
Thank you!
now it's gorgeous!
