  • Here we have Luke and Joe reviewing the new Bowtech SX 80! Tis one's for all the meatheads and vikings out there. In this video we give impressions and rough speed numbers on the comfort setting because that's what 95% of the people that buy bowtechs have them set on. This is not a comprehensive speed test. Thank you all for watching!

    Bring those #80 bows and the 700 grain arrows down and Hunt hogs in Coastal GA with one of your best outlaw customers.
    Come down anytime, I got a jeep, we will hit the WMA's for redfish too.

    For some reason my CP30 came from the factory at 76 lbs! I guess I got the best of both worlds. See you at Seven Springs.

    I actually set my SX80 up at about 74lbs/29” and it’s shooting my 466 grain arrows at 286. Absolutely 0 need for any arrow over 500ish grains for anything in North America. This bow is ridiculously smooth and easy to draw with this setup on performance. It holds amazing, and shoots equal speeds to the 77lb V3X33 I had (which was a good bow as well). Couple all that with the ease of tuning this bow, it’s really hard to beat for a do everything kind of setup.

    Its getting tempting to get back into the 80#er game, great video!

    Mfjj speed tested this bow with 420 gr on performance and shot 324. He also said that while it's a little more of a dump into the valley, it wasn't more difficult than comfort.

    I like bowtech but I find it funny that they say their composite limb pockets are just as strong/stronger then aluminum then for their 80lb now they use aluminum pockets. I think their composite pockets are fine as I haven’t heard of any problems with them.

    Can’t imagine how the string wear on an #80 bow is.. Can’t keep strings on the new Bowtechs as it is.. Hopefully they fix the cam issues. Almost bought one! Whew.

      I switched over to rouge r19 right away. I’ve got quite a few arrows through mine with no issues.

    Never got into shooting an 80lb bow the same speed as a lot of 70lb bows

      I was going to say the same thing. That’s a horribly slow bow! I have 70 lbs bows that shoot faster

      The point of this type of bow isn't speed and they don't advertise it as such. The longer brace heights and axle to axle give you the forgiveness and accuracy of a target setup type, but with speeds well enough for hunting or various target applications. Of course there are faster 70# options, but you will give up forgiveness, accuracy, and comfort to be faster.

      @@sheyanderson4371 Finally!............someone who has an I.Q. higher than their bow's draw weight lol.

    The PSE Omen shoots faster at 70lbs than that does at 80lbs.

    • @sheyanderson4371
      @sheyanderson4371 Рік тому +2

      Speed isn't the point of these types of bows, versatility is. The 34" bows will be more forgiving, accurate, and comfortable than your Omen or any speed bow is. The Mach 34 and Ventum 34 are similar platforms and both likely shoot slower at 80#'s as well.

    • @TheArrowsEdge
      @TheArrowsEdge Рік тому

      @sheyanderson4371 Which leads into, why shoot it at 80lbs? I suppose options never hurt...

    • @sheyanderson4371
      @sheyanderson4371 Рік тому +1

      @@TheArrowsEdge The same reason you would shoot an Omen at 80#'s, instead of 70, to get the most speed out of it. In Bowtech's case, having 80#s adds just another option to the SS34, but because of the limb pockets, they have to rebrand it solely as the SX80.

    that bow is not that fast but im sure the draw is much smoother then my mathews. my bowtech Realm is the smoothest drawing bow in comfort i have ever drawn luv that thing its pretty quick too. last night i put a 388 grain arrow through my V3X 29 at 78ish#s it went 328 fps at 29 inch draw... just subbed thx..

  • @jasonard7227
    @jasonard7227 Рік тому +1

    but it will shoot the same weight arrow faster like my mathews V3X 29 and my VXR 28 at 78-79 pounds slings 543 grains @292 fps my 72 pound V3 31 slings the same arrow 273 fps but the 78 pounds sure isnt needed for sure but its nice getting that speed with a more heavy arrow and smaller pin gaps...thx for the vid...
