    Hi Roger ,
    I think most os the salmon taste like crap sort of thing came about because the people catching them weren’t looking after them - if you leave any fish in a bucket out in the sun it will deteriorate quickly . I use a 2lt cordial bottle filled with water and frozen to keep my fish cool by part filling the bucket with sea water and putting the cordial bottle in the middle and i then place my fish in head first around the bottle . It doesn’t take long for the frozen bottle to cool the water down and i can also use it as a drink bottle . Sure it is an extra 2 kg to lug down the beach but as i can use it to cool the fish and drink its contents if i get thirsty i feel it worthwhile.
    Don’t Forget the fishcakes , once made they can be frozen and make a nice meal when the weather turns bad and you can’t get out for a fish !
    The frames also make good crab baits !

      @@RogerOsborneFishing hi Roger, please post the question u have at the end of video as a comment as well, so that people can respond at a single place and vote up other comments where we share same idea.
      Other than that i am interested in seeing a pov video where u find sand bars and place to fish. With drone video we understand the concept would be good to see a pov on a gopro.
      Thanks for the content, really useful

    Great info mate. Not sure if I mentioned it before but I fish Kilcunda and Inverloch beaches. I’ve caught salmon all year round and love the fight they put up. A few weeks back I was at Kilcunda and a huge flock of seagulls were feeding on white bait within casting distance. Salmon were pretty much everywhere!
    I pulled in 8 in quick succession on a metal spoon setup. Biggest was near 4kg so I was wrapped.

  • @toddmillar4041
    @toddmillar4041 3 роки тому

    Hi Roger, I've just started watching your videos so my comments are a bit late. Thanks to replying to my question on the tailor video as I have recently moved to Perth and tailor are our bread and butter beach fish. Prior to that I fished the Esperance area, all the way East to the WA/SA border, and talk about Salmon. March/April they school in there tens of thousands migrating West. They will take any bait or lure in this situation just sometimes they are a bit far out so you need to be able to cast. These salmon tend to school in similar size fish but not always. The best for size though is outside of these schools. The sharks follow these schools an smash fish a plenty, quite often the fish survives injured and swims away from the school and basically lives in the one location for the rest of its life. These fish grow huge. The green colouring on their back goes a gun metal grey at about 85cms, I personally have caught one at over a metre (didn't get a weight) on 2 snooded 7/0 hooks with you guessed it salmon as bait while chasing Mulloway. If you love Salmon then give Southern WA a crack.

      Hi Simon, I don't live in Victoria. I would need to do some research. I know that the colder water does have some impact on fish species that can be caught. You can still catch Mulloway in Victoria. The Barwon River is a consistent producer and the beaches around Barwon Heads.

    Another great video Roger. I'd be really interested in learning more about finding sand bars and gutters on the beach

    Excellent video... Super keen to get out there and give it a go! Love to know a bit more about beach fishing gear (rods/line size/reels etc) + Essential accessories.

    Awesome video Roger! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us! Could you please explain how are you reading the beach with examples? It would be helpful to see what you see and how you know that this specific area is good. I was trying to read a beach but I typically just see waves and not much structure. Thank you!
