  • In this garden we are Reducing HALF This Laurel Hedge By HALF - Hedge Trimming
I run a gardening company, where we do lawn mowing, hedge cutting, hedge trimming and general garden maintenance. I use a roller mower when mowing the lawns, to mow stripes in to the lawn, in the UK. Cutting grass and hedge trimming in Amazing gardens. I usually do the gardening with an assistant gardener.
I often go back to the same gardens, generally every 2 weeks. For which I have created separate playlists for. I use an estate car to carry all my equipment to go to different gardens, I use a roller lawn mower, combination tool for strimming and hedge cutting and various hand tools like a fork and spade for all the other jobs.

A decent set of hedgecutters would have made the job easier, Hedge trimmers are quite different, with faster cutting speed but less torque, hedge cutters are the opposite! Long reach units lean more to the trimmers, with not a lot of torque. For hedge reductions, I use use either a Stihl HS81R, or a Husqvarna 522HDR75X, both 75cm. For the stumps, I the pole saw attachment on my Husqvarna 535LK pro combi! Hope this is helpful, as you may burn your motor out if you push it too far! Good luck in the future chap! 👍😮

I have found battery powered pruners a godsend on the wrist and elbows. I was struggling with numbness in the fingers after intensive use of manual loppers. Battery operated versions now eliminated all of that.

I have a 30 m run of Laurel to cut back it currently stands around 4 m tall Andy's 4 m deep my intention is to knock off a couple of metres from the height give it a season and then cut the Laurel back around 2 m it won't afford me the privacy I have had but at 56 I don't need to be climbing ladders every year to dream it

Laurel will grow really quickly and from almost nothing. I had a row of trees cut down last winter ( leylandii , forty feet high!). I had no idea what was underneath those trees but this spring laurel sprang up. Its now forming a decent hedge. Well done on cutting the hedge. It is looking good.

You want to invest in a small chipper if your in the gardening game ,I didn’t have one when I started but jobs got bigger then I had to buy one and pay it off used it quite a lot since Cost me 5000 dollars takes up to 90 mm,jimmy Aust

Ah, good advice, but I just don't get the scales of jobs and volume to justify a chipper. We get 99% away in customers green waste bins & we never take waste away

Be areful shredding Laurel and don't carry laurel waste in an enclosed van. It has high concentration of HCN (Hydrogen Cyanide).
