When my 9-year-old daughter told me she heard something under the bed.I said to myself."Oh hell no.I've seen way too many movies.Where the parents ignore the child until it's too late."I got up, and I checked under her bed and checked her whole room.
    Thoroughly.

Staying fit is also important. Horror film victims are always tripping and falling all over the place and not being able to get up. I thought this was a movie thing but I have seen many videos where people fall down and couldn’t get up when life depended on it, weak legs and weak arms… do squats, pushups, and sprints a few times a week.

This is a video that should be watched several times.
Wisdom. "With all thy getting..... get wisdom." Proverbs, KJV Bible
Horror movies are full of alcohol, drugs, sexual activity, raunchy friends, not respecting others or their property, late nights.... If you hang around dogs, you'll get fleas. Simple. Live a good godly life. Make good choices. Be ready for crazy because it's here. It's not coming. No one is coming to help you. There are simple things you can do to keep yourself out of trouble and thrive.

Very good points. Wariness and paranoia are different things. Being alert, and knowing that your situation can go to hell without warning are survival traits of wariness. Hiding in your home, constantly checking windows and doors, walking around with your shoulders hunched and your head down, not making eye contact, are traits of paranoia. Go out, and have fun. Just be aware of your surroundings, and be wary of the strangers around you. Don't hide from life.

If these people didn't exist in real life the writers would have no models to adapt to their movies. Every characteristic you listed, alone or in combination, makes for a perfect victim. We may not be able to conquer all the weaknesses but taking care of a few greatly increases one's chance of survival. Really good video. 411 being referred to as "paranoid" seems like a stretch. Paranoia is more than being cautious or suspicious. To be paranoia it needs to adversely effecting your life. He seems well adjusted. "Don't take candy from strangers" is not paranoia.
Other thing with the paranoia brush I have noticed is that typically it is people that don't train that pull it out. I think the labeling makes them feel better. For many, the training itself is enjoyable.

Over 50 years ago I was new in my military career and my supervisor decided, against S.O.P., to “test” me after I had been told that a “test” had to be approved by a 2-star a week in advance or we were to assume it real.
My supervisor may have needed to change his underwear after I came close to killing him, and I would have been justified in doing so.
My point is that as a guard I was expecting trouble, I had the mindset and some skills to fight against an ambush.

Walking thru the park at 5am (park legally still closed) it's dark, and I'm kind of condition white and suddenly I notice a guy sitting on a bench I'm about to walk past.
It's in the shadows and he's hard to see cause it's still dark. He's not looking at me, just staring straight ahead.
I wonder what I should do, and then I make an obvious detour way around him.
He didn't move, but there was a time when I would have been too "embarrassed" to obviously "run" from him.
And I never leave the house un-armed, btw, even to go to the mailbox.

Great work! Time and place is a very important security consideration every day. Do you really need to get gas at the quickie mart at 0300? Probably not, so don't go. Many problems are easily avoided with a reasonable amount of planning. Train like your life depends on it, because it does. Be the hard target that doesn't appear like easy prey. EDC specific to time and place.

Great comparison. So to remember, that fictims and situations in horrorstories have lots of similarities with the ones in true life stories. I preceate escpecially the point about sort of alertness in the public and sort of physical self-confidence. There exist a study, where psychologist show violent criminals in prison one after the other a 5 min clip about a street in New York, than the prisinors had to identify 5 of maybe 50 peoples shown in the clip, they would choose as a victim. Over 90% choosed the same 5 people! I lived on the streets in France when I was younger, panhandle, drinking all the stuff. Never a problem with violence. I'm sure had something to do, that I had grown up in harsh invironmet with lots of violence and learned boxing as a kid.

A big one for me is political beliefs and 2A. I believe that since 1961 the Second Amendment has been reduced to a privilege by Congress enacting a permanent prohibition on all felons and providing little recourse for restoration. That's okay to share with progun enthusiasts and the 2A crowd but not society at large. My attitude is if someone can't be trusted armed they should still be in prison. Banning Martha Stewart for life from owning a gun isn't going to make the world a safer place. However there is a time and place to share my political beliefs, do it in the wrong crowd and this can bring unwanted attention.

    Thanks for the video.
I've never been a fan of horror movies, so I can't really comment on them specifically. Off the top of my head, I don't think I can even name a horror movie that I've seen. I vaguely remember seeing a movie that might fit into that category years ago, but I can't remember any details of the movie or the title. There are a couple of things that struck me as you spoke about these things.
First, I don't mean any disrespect to your religious beliefs or to reading the Bible. I will say that some of the worst enemies aren't walking around as roaring lions. If they were roaring, I could just walk in the opposite directions from the roars. Many of the most dangerous enemies out there are stalking quietly. I don't say that to diminish the value of the warning. I tend to believe that this verse from the Bible is speaking less about physical dangers than spiritual dangers. I'm just saying that if more of the dangers were roaring, more of us could avoid them more easily.
Secondly, I have mixed feelings about the beaten path. There can be safety in numbers on the beaten path, but sometimes, the beaten path is where the predators go to have the largest selection of potential victims. If I can avoid places where a large number of unaware people are congregating, I feel as if I am avoiding places where the bad guys will go to look for victims.

    • @411Outdoors
      @411Outdoors  Місяць тому +1

The real horror movie ghost is my neighbour aunty who looks same with and without makeup - can't differentiate 😅😅 neighbours sneaking up on you 24/7 is no less than any conjuring itself😂
