When my 9-year-old daughter told me she heard something under the bed.I said to myself."Oh hell no.I've seen way too many movies.Where the parents ignore the child until it's too late."I got up, and I checked under her bed and checked her whole room. Thoroughly.
I live in the downtown area of a major US city. Someone once asked me if my neighborhood was "safe" and I replied, "It's perfectly safe, as long as you remember that it's dangerous." 🙂
Staying fit is also important. Horror film victims are always tripping and falling all over the place and not being able to get up. I thought this was a movie thing but I have seen many videos where people fall down and couldn’t get up when life depended on it, weak legs and weak arms… do squats, pushups, and sprints a few times a week.
This is a video that should be watched several times. Wisdom. "With all thy getting..... get wisdom." Proverbs, KJV Bible Horror movies are full of alcohol, drugs, sexual activity, raunchy friends, not respecting others or their property, late nights.... If you hang around dogs, you'll get fleas. Simple. Live a good godly life. Make good choices. Be ready for crazy because it's here. It's not coming. No one is coming to help you. There are simple things you can do to keep yourself out of trouble and thrive.
I see young girls mostly but some guys also walking around at night with their attention glued to their phones rather than their surroundings. This is why I always tell my girls to stay ready so they don't have to get ready.
We live in a horror movie. This is EXACTLY why your self-defense (mental and physical preparation) is so invaluable. Excellent examples and wise guidance. We appreciate your creativity in driving these points home and keeping us aware, prepared, and alert . Thank you!
Very good points. Wariness and paranoia are different things. Being alert, and knowing that your situation can go to hell without warning are survival traits of wariness. Hiding in your home, constantly checking windows and doors, walking around with your shoulders hunched and your head down, not making eye contact, are traits of paranoia. Go out, and have fun. Just be aware of your surroundings, and be wary of the strangers around you. Don't hide from life.
I have long wondered why , or how people become victims of serial killers. When you look at the photographs of the victims they look like bright and confident people.
When I was younger we really didn't have to worry about things, but nowadays there are to many messed up people that somehow identify themselves with the movies now.
I say this with respect. Sir, you remind me of my father who taught me that I’m a woman, and life’s not fair or equal. Men by nature are predatory and this trait comes with good and bad. My father taught me being a woman gives me the element of surprise, I’m speaking in code. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Excellent. The truths of human nature and the sinfulness of world that we live in are not believed by many in the USA today. We think that it is other ages, other places, other people rather than seeing the reality of our own nature, our own time, and our own place. You are helping us. Thank you.
Regarding number 1, my sisters and I call that "not being able to hear the soundtrack". I like to watch certain scenes on mute to remind myself how innocuous things can quickly turn deadly.
If these people didn't exist in real life the writers would have no models to adapt to their movies. Every characteristic you listed, alone or in combination, makes for a perfect victim. We may not be able to conquer all the weaknesses but taking care of a few greatly increases one's chance of survival. This teaching video is going to make it into my blog at some point, because it's important to spread the word.
I'm a new subscriber. I love your content. I'm 70 and a judo shodan. Starting judo at 12 years old and converted into Christianity at 17, it's refreshing to hear a young man teaching these principles. When I'm gone, it's good to know the Lord has reserved a remnant to carry on his work like yourself brother 🤗
The only horror movie you'd get from Kentucky is what we'd do to the home invader. 😂 "I'll give ya a 10 second head start off this farm. Then I'm firing up this hay thresher. One... Two... You better run faster than that, boy!"
Really good video. 411 being referred to as "paranoid" seems like a stretch. Paranoia is more than being cautious or suspicious. To be paranoia it needs to adversely effecting your life. He seems well adjusted. "Don't take candy from strangers" is not paranoia. Other thing with the paranoia brush I have noticed is that typically it is people that don't train that pull it out. I think the labeling makes them feel better. For many, the training itself is enjoyable.
The most frustrating thing I experienced when people make stupid, horror movie victim mistakes is when I realize I'm the"People" making the mistake(s). I've had a significant amount of self-defense and personal security training and study over the years, and I still catch myself now again making those mistakes. If you notice yourself making a mistake, first thing to do is to stop making it

Over 50 years ago I was new in my military career and my supervisor decided, against S.O.P., to “test” me after I had been told that a “test” had to be approved by a 2-star a week in advance or we were to assume it real. My supervisor may have needed to change his underwear after I came close to killing him, and I would have been justified in doing so. My point is that as a guard I was expecting trouble, I had the mindset and some skills to fight against an ambush.
Walking thru the park at 5am (park legally still closed) it's dark, and I'm kind of condition white and suddenly I notice a guy sitting on a bench I'm about to walk past. It's in the shadows and he's hard to see cause it's still dark. He's not looking at me, just staring straight ahead. I wonder what I should do, and then I make an obvious detour way around him. He didn't move, but there was a time when I would have been too "embarrassed" to obviously "run" from him. And I never leave the house un-armed, btw, even to go to the mailbox.
Great work! Time and place is a very important security consideration every day. Do you really need to get gas at the quickie mart at 0300? Probably not, so don't go. Many problems are easily avoided with a reasonable amount of planning. Train like your life depends on it, because it does. Be the hard target that doesn't appear like easy prey. EDC specific to time and place.
Ash is not a good horror movie candidate : he has a chainsaw mounted on his arm and sawed shotgun in the other hand : "GROOVY" ! (Evil dead 2) More seriously : you are perfectly right, horror movies victims are most of the time stupid and naive and people, who act nonsensely.
Maybe that is why I never enjoyed watching horror movies! The victims are so “stup* d “ I always had a hard time finishing those movies because the characters/ victims made me too angry or frustated at the stupidity. I recently started watching one on netflix about that road rage guy harassing that single mom. She could have ended the situation so many times I had to stop that movie and watch something else.
I’m certainly in need of your tutelage but one thing I am very good at is locking doors. If there is a lock then you can bet I’ve locked it. I’m so good at it I’ve locked my family out of the house on more than one occasion 😂 Hey, that’s why they should have let me know they were going out in the yard or to get the mail or whatever. If someone ever comes in on me then I’m going to hear them coming because they are going to have to make some noise to get in.
I watched *Speak No Evil* yesterday. Would you consider discussing this movie and exploring how it serves as a strong example of people ignoring warning signs, being overly polite, and prioritizing others’ feelings over their own, even when it’s detrimental? Also, I love your channel, and thank you for the great videos! Greetings from Norway.
