The Most Exciting Music Production Discovery | EXTC Stereo Effects Reamper

- I consider myself an effects pedal aficionado. Using the EXCT Stereo Reamper to apply my pedals to ANY audio I record or sample is something that genuinely exhilarates me. 🎶
This is a turning point in my journey of music production and I cannot wait to see where it leads me. 😆
Thank you, Radial Engineering. Thank you, Chase Bliss Audio. And thank you, BADBADNOTGOOD, Danger Mouse, and the Madvillain himself - MF DOOM. 🙏🙏🙏

To further clarify why this is such an exciting discovery for me:
I’ve been aware of reamping for a while now, though I never really used it (I’d typically just double track through a different guitar/pedal/amp combos).
What excited me most here was coming across the ability to route the reamping so that you don’t hear both the reamper AND original audio at the same time. Very useful for when you don’t plan on blending in the original audio with it’s reamp as you can more clearly monitor the modulation of effects you’re applying.
That combined with freedom to have any audio from your computer processed through your pedals immediately is a game changer! Especially when that is able to be directly recorded via your DAW.
I always figured you’d have to first open the DAW… get the audio onto it… record the reamping… and THEN playback the new audio soloed to hear the end result of what you did. The ease of use/real-time-monitoring opens up a lot of possibilities that I simply wasn’t aware of before. 🎛️
Haha your joy and excitement is infectious 🎉 that’s me when I started reamping through my pedalboard!! It’s so much fun! ❤
Your so kind, thank you! 🤗
Have you only recently started or has it been a while? I think this technique is only going to become more common/popular as we progress.
Any fun findings through your experimentation? 🤔
I just realized I didn’t properly read your comment on Facebook the first time; please forgive the redundant question above. To clarify your method:
Do you record vocals and guitar into the pedalboard at the same time or separately? Do you use the radial blue box with the MAW, alone? The thing looks like a beast btw. OBNE is great! 🦷
So you go out channel 3 mono on the Apollo and through the blue box return in stereo? Is that stereo via the through (1/4”) and XLR out (they’d both be sending the same signal, right)??
@@stephenbeyer I be recorded everything traditionally through my board to DAW for years and only the last few months experimenting reamping my dry signal through my pedalboard and back in like an FX loop. I find with vocals I can keep the words present and running parallel not love them in the reverbs through a different track, I’ve recorded stereo into Apollo console panned, center going into Apollo certain tracks.. just distortion on left side and the reverb on the right. I’ve just been trying everything as a science experiment really and have enjoyed how much more I like the control of outcomes sound wise.
@@stephenbeyer I record guitar and vocals always separate. Better control for me honestly of all the variables. I can use MAW but I as of now use a Shure MV7 which gives me both thunderport and XLR option. From my Logic DAW sending out the dry track out channel 3 mono of Apollo line cable to XLR to My blue radial to then go from the radial with an instrument cable to the in the mono side of my pedalboard. My ending row of pedalboard is all stereo so the R and L go back into the rear end of my Apollo channels 1 and 2 Line level and Linked for stereo recognition that 1 and 2 are a R and L stereo signal when recording. I hope my long winded signal chain made sense hahaha
loving your energy (and this would work with most pedals), but aren't chase bliss pedals able to accept line level? meaning you wouldn't need the radial reamp box
Good for you dude 👍
Thank you! 😊
Can we get a step-by-step tutorial please on the set up in the computer? Thank you.
I plan on doing a more in depth video on this device after I get more experience with it. In that I'll likely include how to set it up! 👍
@@stephenbeyer still planning on it? I’m really curious how you routed this setup
@@FadingVessel It won’t be for a bit, but I do still plan on it. 👍
I have a lot of other projects/videos in the works that are higher priority.
@@stephenbeyer Eh?
I might just always listen to music through pedals now. 😂
I have a Scarlett gen3 2i2 . Is that compatible with this approach?
It should work just fine, though I'm not 100% sure. The only thing is since that model only has 2 Outputs, you won't be able to use a reamper AND use external studio monitors.
Although... That might even work so long as you're reamping in mono and using one monitor (one for each output).
Let us know how it goes! 👍
Hot damn.
Yes, Johnny62. Some may even say… damn hot. 🥵
The only problem is that the Habit is mono so you're losing one channel.
Who's going to tell him that you could go to Spotify and then run a headphone jack into the input of a pedal and have The. Same. EXACT. THING. Happen? We used to get bored in the 80s and do this with the headphone jack into our pedalboards and out of our amps.
It would’ve been nice if you would’ve explain to people how you got it to work rather than just boast about how happy you are for six minutes lol. Not trying to be a dick here, but there are a lot of people out there that don’t know how to set these devices up properly and it’s always good to share that information to help other people it’s not hard to set up but it’s intimidating for people who don’t know about it
Agreed. I have this same reamp box with a Scarlett 4i4 and I haven’t been able to get a full wet signal. While this video gives assurance of the possibility of a fully wet signal, it doesn’t help people, like myself, get there who are having trouble figuring it out.
Edit: I figured it out! Now, I feel like Stephen 😂 I’ve been reamping the mess out of Spotify tracks and my own music
