    Great video, to the point with tests, instead of the usual generic description we too often get on other sites!

    Just the kind of video I was looking for. Thanks! I´ll get one right now!

    Hey Paul, just wanted to give you an update: after our chat and watching this vid, I grabbed one of these. Thanks for the assist!

    HIGHLY impressive bit of kit!
    Not cheap, but a 'relatively cheap' way of adding analogue outboard.

    Thanks for this video! Pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Would love to see a follow-up on using re-amp devices with different amps (to see how they sit in a mix), for experimental purposes (adding chaotic delay feedback to intros/outros of tracks), or really any other creative ways to use these! Also, beautiful studio -- what a collection, and well-organized!

    I have spent so much on great amps, and the radial stuff always makes it sound its best. My favorite guitar pedal of all time is their switchbone, and it's an A/B/Y box haha

    Thanks for this great video! I’d like to learn more about gain-staging through this device too.

      I actually found it to vary based on the source and the selected pedal.

    I bought several ua boxes, Golden, Starlight and Astra
    Also the Mary Cry optical comp
    I do have everything else that radial makes
    Is it worth it for the all in compact box?

    I would like to know if one microphone is plugged into the main input (left side) if then on the mixer the microphone is going to sound on the left channel only while the stereo efects would sound in full stereo. Or how can I use this device with only one channel input to make it sound stereo outputs? Thanks.

    This is a really great tut on re-amping impact - (now get it in a 500 series Radial :) )

      There is a 500 series mono version

      @silversulu 2 роки тому +1

      @@RecordingMag I own 2 of the monos; I’m hoping for Radial to make a single rack stereo re-amp 500 series to free up rack real estate.

    awesome vid. trickiest part for me is setting up a send/ return in logic.. not having luck w that. does this channel cover this type a thing?

    • @RecordingMag
      @RecordingMag  4 місяці тому

      I have never tried to set up a send-return scenario with Logic. I know it can be done, I have just never tried it. Unfortunately, we don't have any videos on this subject currently.

    Hey, great video. Does the reamper come before the pedals or after?

    • @RecordingMag
      @RecordingMag  Рік тому

      This device is both. The pedals are essentially inserted into the device. The signal comes out of your DAW/Audio interface into the EXTC. The EXTC sends that signal into the pedals. The signal from the pedals goes back into the EXTC and then out from there into your DAW.

    Very useful information, thank you for putting this video together. I'm still curious about how a set up with an analog mixer would work. Do you still need, or benefit from, the Reamp box if you are going: Soundcard xlr out to line level in on the mixer, then using the aux sends (line level as well) to send to a stomp box? Any difference with a strymon vs older stomp box? Thank you for your time.

    • @RecordingMag
      @RecordingMag  9 місяців тому +1

      1. Yes, you would still need/benefit from this in your setup as it converts your line-level signals from your aux sends into the proper pedal impedance.
      2. Every pedal can react differently, and the EXTC boxes will offer an even greater benefit than a modern Strymon.

    Are you playing back the tracks along with the dry recording , or just the processed track after going thru the radial ?

    • @RecordingMag
      @RecordingMag  2 роки тому +1

      Both, in most instances I have a section where its just the effect.

  • @johnsaras1

    I thought about one of these for some of my Strymon pedals, but then I realized they accept line levels up to +8 dBu from the interface. So is there really a need for the Radial? For some of my Boss pedals it would make sense…

    • @RecordingMag
      @RecordingMag  7 місяців тому

      Strymon not so much, Boss, definitely.

    Do you need to use XLR to go I/O of your interface? I have the mono version and I use TRS to go I/O of my interface but when I send my pre-recorded track out to the Radial, the signal I get back is mushy, clipping, distorted- uglyyyy

    • @RecordingMag
      @RecordingMag  Рік тому

      Hmmm, not sure what is up there (maybe contact Radial to trouble shoot). I sent the units back a long time ago, however I did all of my connections to my patchbay which is TT using patch cables.

      I've been getting the same thing trying to use TRS 1/4" cables for I/O. Let me know if you've found a solution and I'll do the same for you :)

    • @ckrug32
      @ckrug32 Рік тому

      Did you make sure your interface "in" ports are set to "line" level instead of "instrument" level? Sometimes I forget to check, and experience clipping

    Can this box also be used as a regular DI box, times two?
    So if I'm recording a bass player and a guitar player at the same time they could share this as a DI box ?
    * Also, does it become a passive DI box if it's not plugged into AC/ the wall? PLEASE DOESE ANYONE KNOW? I Have Asked On Radial You Tube Advert and No Response?
    Maybe It''s A Dumb Question? This Box Is A Lot Of $$$

    If only this device could have been powered by 9 or 12 V - it could have been chained to most quality pedal power supplies... Those power adapters are fucking awful for most rack or studio applications.
