This is the best explanation about Dupuytren’s that I have found ANYWHERE…full stop! Many thanks for your clarity, time & effort putting this all together. I’m a (skinny!) 62 year old self-employed gardener and have basically got accustomed to my 4 bent fingers (pinkies almost doubled over!) I won’t be going for the open hand surgery because of my job, the nerve damage risks & recovery time (especially for manual work). Had 1 needle op a few years ago that helped a little, but it wasn’t long before it was back as it was. It has been a decades-long daily “nuisance” though. So good to listen to someone who really knows their specialism in depth and who clearly cares about this often neglected area…& the people who “inhabit” it.
It does give you hope. It makes you wonder how we can get the condition highlighted, as so to bring more attention the subject and an investment from governments and private alike.
Thank you for producing these videos. I recently discovered that I have this disease and at a fairly premature age (first nodule at about 30). It's been an anxiety inducing experience, but knowing more about the condition and possible outcomes definitely helps. I really appreciate the work that you and others are doing, hopefully we will eventually find ways to prevent others from suffering in the future!
I just had NA on both ring fingers here in SC by a student of yours, Dr Sutker. I am so pleased, with nearly flat hands bilaterally for the first time in over 10 years. I do yoga, sail and play pickleball, hoping to pick up my guitar again, so I truly appreciate your research.
Thank you Dr. Eaton for taking up this important cause. Thank you for your research, determination and persistence. I hope continued progress and discovery toward better remedies and hopefully ultimately a prevention happens sooner rather than later.
Thnx for the extensive & informative presentation The linking of Dupruytens to cancer and other ailments seems very contentious and is glanced over quite easily, it's been said before but has it been statistically confirmed? I have never seen it statistically shown. It might also alarm people with Dupruytens unnecesarily. (Such as myself at 48) So, if one has dupruytens but no other obvious health problems, never smoked, doesn't really drink , should one still be worried and get a medical checkup for the mentioned related illnesses/diseases? At this point I'm more worried of the mentioned related diseases then the disease itself, which is mostly just a hindrance. Also, is bad diet a contributing factor? Diabetes seems to be mentioned. (Stretching doesn't seem to help me much, light activity every now and then like playing a bit of guitar, buidling furnite does temporarily somewhat loosen up my hands, removes some stiffness. )
I'm 80 years old and have Dupuytren's disease in both hands and would like to see a cure cause my Son is 52 and has nodules in both hands. I really worry for him having to go thru this. Thanks for giving us as much information that you can and let me know if I can be of any help.
Excellent content, i seeing a surgeon in a weeks time, to give a date for an operation, people say that it alcohol, poor diet, diabetes and smoking , never smoked, limited alcohol , not diabetic and have a pretty good diet, hopefully surgery will straighten and flatten out my hand. Over the past couple of months its started in my other hand.
Thanks, Charlie! Much appreciated. Perhaps this is a good opportunity for machine learning analysis of large numbers of blood samples.....tell the machine to search for patterns in Dupuytrens blood compared to normal blood. Data science.
Thank you. I learned so much in your presentation that I did not know regarding possible progression and no progression from nodule stage onwards. Knowledge truly is power.
Thank you Dr Eaton for this video. You note those with severe Duypuytren have a higher incidence of malignant sarcoma and malignant cancer. Are there particular types of cancers that you are referring to, and if so l, what are they?
I heard something about this having to do with diet. Or at least the body being acidic because of diet. Eating raw vegetables and fruits like melon and berries make it more alkaline. Also breathwork like the Wim Hof method is supposed to help with making the body more alkaline. It’s worth looking into because it’s free. I’m a tattoo artist, 33 and just found out about I have dupuytren in both hands. I need my hands for my job, so I’m going to at least try this and will keep you updated if you want. Cheers
I disagree. Vegetables and fruit contain oxalates and are highly glycating to the blood cells. Not to mention phytates and other assorted anti nutrients. Especially raw. This is rarely mentioned, but a quick internet search will clarify
Excellent information, thank you so much. I have contracture in both hands so eagerly waiting further advancements that could help improve or even cure this.
Thank you. Very helpful. - As an aside, regarding this not being a Viking disease, I have been looking at various articles and maps about the various Germanic tribes (Indo-Europeans, etc., that went north/northwest out of the area around the Black Sea....) and their migrations (from a deep roots genealogical standpoint), and I have noticed that several countries that have Dupuytren in higher numbers, and those areas of Britain that were EITHER heavily occupied by Vikings (many originally Germanic) OR heavier Germanic Anglo-Saxon settlement areas are showing a heavier incidence of Dupuyten's. - - The same observation, by the way, seems to apply to the countries shown as having the "tallest people" - almost all of which appear to have Germanic tribal/genetic roots. - - Is anyone looking into a connection of Dupuytren (or height) to Germanic or ancient Germanic/Baltic/Scandinavian ancestry, as opposed to focusing on the more limited Viking group? Thanks!
Thanks for your interesting studies. I have cords in both hands, but only a clear contracture in one pinky finger. I use different Dupuytren's contracture cream bought from US, which perhaps helps a little, but not sure of the effect compared to the high cost.
since diagnosed a year ago i have had 2 surgeries attempting to straighten it with no improvements.....they amputated it a few days ago......absolutely devastating for me and happened fast
Mi doctor me dijo esto desciende de Europa, yo no le entendí, Luego entendí yo tengo esta enfermedad 😢My doctor told me this comes from Europe, I didn't understand him, then I understood, I have this disease 😢

Dr. Eaton, Thank you for putting this video together. it provides me with the confidence that Dupuytren's might one day be a treatable disease.

Robert, what is NA?
How long did the recovery take and did you do both hands at once?

I’m in SC. Where is that doctor located?
Never mind, I see he’s in Rockhill. Thx
Thank you Dr Eaton
This has been sent out in time to forward to my son as he has just discovered that he also has Dupytrens.

I would like to see a controlled study on how diet affects this disease
It doesn't.
@@cornstar1253so matter of fact. Hold tight, doesn’t seem like we have all knowing status on this disease by any stretch of the imagination.

Excellent update, I have not listened to Dr. Easton for a year and he/we/us have so much new useful info at our finger tips (no pun intended).

Thanks, Dr Eaton! This is a fascinating presentation.
I use silicium and it helps me very well.
It makes the cords flexibel.
Works for me!
how? orally? topically?

terrific presentation! Finally, a search for a cure..or at least, better treatments!
Thank you very much for this very interesting talk.

Why is the anti-TNF "early stage" threatment with adalimumab not mentioned? Is it still too unknown?
Yeah! THIS!!! ☝️

Rapamycin seems to be slowing down contracture
Really that’s for anti aging
What type of results have you noticed
Where do I purchase it
It might be worth a try

why is radiotherapy considered "Risky"
I had it in Feb this year... in Germany supposed to be 80% effective
Radiotherapy or sonar therapy???
not sure if he means Radiation therapy for Radiotherapy... I had radiation therapy this year ant it seems to have stabilized
Is there any truth that this type of arthritis increases cancer rate by 24% ?
I wonder how many of Jose people smoke.
