- Brutiful is a roller derby documentary that focusses on Princess Paincakes from the Dead End Derby league. Made by Kate Geary and Rebecca Edwards from the New Zealand Broadcasting School in 2009 containing music by O'Lovely
Yes, there are roller derby leagues in the USA as well as in Canada. I've been attending now for three years (I'm a guy) and enjoy watching these wonderful woman play and enjoy this wonderful sport.
Very good documentary. Here in San Diego, I have the privilege to referee for the Starlettes and the Rockettes. Derby has introduced me to only sport that I truly have any interest in. Great work Princess. One day this sport will be accepted into the Olympics and that will be a great day!

Roller Derby was a big hit in the u.s during the 70's I was a San Francisco bay bombers fan my favorite female player was joanie weston.

Haha hey Brutiful! I love the name! im Aqua Knock U Out. Aqua for short i play roller derby too. We have jr teams where i live. Its really awesome. Haha i have only been playing for not even a year yet but im in love with the sport already. I remember when i was fresh meat and i got a concusion on like my second week over practice. Good times. Love the video by the way. Keep up da good sk8ing
If i knew how to skate i totally would have loved to do this, but since i can't skate i've decided to do rugby as an outlet for every time i get pissed. Lol

@nicholecliche Most leagues do not REQUIRE that you take them out (some will) ... just be aware that they ARE at risk of getting ripped out.

@romiicc87 male teams are now playing, I play for Manchester Roller Derby in UK. It's a long way behind the women's team but catching up fast. rugby players who skate are ideal candidates!
I'm about to try out for the derby team in my town, but I'm utterly afraid for my piercings. Any tips on skating with them? Do you guys take them out or what?
I have my nose, which I don't mind taking out, and my vertical labret.

Yes the unites states I'd big on it. I'm on a team. In Hollister. Actually I just got back from practice. Icing my knees from taking a huge spill over some other girls. It was fun tho. I ABSOLUTELY UNCONDITIONALLY IRREVOCABLY LOVE ROLLER DERBY!!

you dont have to know how to skate, silly. You enroll in fresh meat or raw meat and learn with the rest of em. I hadnt skated before...not with any real idea of what I was doing, (and that was twenty-ish years ago), anyone can Derby!!
