you dont have to know how to skate, silly. You enroll in fresh meat or raw meat and learn with the rest of em. I hadnt skated before...not with any real idea of what I was doing, (and that was twenty-ish years ago), anyone can Derby!!

Yes, there are roller derby leagues in the USA as well as in Canada. I've been attending now for three years (I'm a guy) and enjoy watching these wonderful woman play and enjoy this wonderful sport.

@nicholecliche Most leagues do not REQUIRE that you take them out (some will) ... just be aware that they ARE at risk of getting ripped out.

I'm about to try out for the derby team in my town, but I'm utterly afraid for my piercings. Any tips on skating with them? Do you guys take them out or what? I have my nose, which I don't mind taking out, and my vertical labret.

Very good documentary. Here in San Diego, I have the privilege to referee for the Starlettes and the Rockettes. Derby has introduced me to only sport that I truly have any interest in. Great work Princess. One day this sport will be accepted into the Olympics and that will be a great day!
